I used to give a fuck, now I give a fuck more.

skinfaxi··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
If you are a citizen like this person is then you can tell them to fuck off, they can keep the phone, and they have to let you in.
skinfaxi··on Seed: Minimal, self-modifying agent harness
Where did you write about this? I am interested in reading more.
skinfaxi··on Vomit: Clean up Claude 5's token output with a separate LLM
It is so coincidental that I have been working on a fork of Kilo to do the exact same thing. I wonder if it has any effect on watermarking. I came across this other project yesterday which appears to have the same goal (unaffiliated and I havent tried it). https://github.com/gvzdv/claudish-to-english
skinfaxi··on Aaron Swartz was prosecuted for scraping, while Meta does it without consequence
That's pretty reductive. Or do you not see a difference for example between someone speeding to get to the hospital vs speeding to elude police after a bank robbery?
skinfaxi··on Aaron Swartz was prosecuted for scraping, while Meta does it without consequence
I think part of the balance is that law requires discretion because humans are not good at making deny lists which the law boils down to.
skinfaxi··on Pacing model development in an era of cyber-critical capabilities
This comment does not read like someone who wants to be proven wrong.
skinfaxi··on Meta's blockbuster trial draws parallels to big tobacco
I think your parent's point is even larger than that. To be alive is to engage with risk. There are no stores of value that withstand all decay.
skinfaxi··on How to disable or avoid intrusive AI
How about if AI was the gate for emergency services dispatch?
skinfaxi··on Teaching my kid to code with a modern MUD
What? The article even states there's only one use of AI. What are you talking about?

> Wish is the only AI feature in Canon, and it’s strictly limited to a single tutorial item per day. In a gameworld where everything else is explicitly written by humans for humans. And that alone was instantly polarizing.

skinfaxi··on How to disable or avoid intrusive AI
How many people prefer having an AI gate customer support, for instance? I don't think we are talking about two groups here.
skinfaxi··on How to disable or avoid intrusive AI
Would be interesting to see anti competition law applied here, too. Essentially bundling the two together, leveraging the market for car play to gain adoption for Siri.
skinfaxi··on Patterns and problems in emerging multi-agent systems
How do you enforce that gate?
skinfaxi··on Buyer cancels showing after Deflock shows two cameras utilized by the HOA

skinfaxi··on Buyer cancels showing after Deflock shows two cameras utilized by the HOA
Would be a great angle as a buyer's agent to proactively show clients flock camera locations. At the same time, would be an interesting way to hinder the sale of a property by falsely reporting flock cameras where none are.
skinfaxi··on Patterns and problems in emerging multi-agent systems
Could you elaborate on how that looks in practice?
skinfaxi··on How Organizations Use AI: Evidence from ChatGPT [pdf]
Does that account for parents working multiple part-time jobs?
skinfaxi··on Ordinary abundance
Go camping every so often if you can.
skinfaxi··on How Compaction Works in Pi
I found hermes to be really lightweight, though I am on a relatively older version and built a custom plugin to lazily load mcps (that's probably in hermes proper by now). Compared to kilo it seems to consume far fewer tokens.
skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
In an ideal sense you're right, but so long as AI is created by people and those people don't have universal agreement, our products will mirror our faults. Interesting to think about the variance in personalities of AI produced by different cultures.
skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
It feels a lot like externalities. Like planned obsolescence increases profit at the expense of the environment. Is our judgement lacking because our scoring is failing to account for these externalities? I could be completely off base here and am out of my depth but I find this whole thread fascinating.
skinfaxi··on Choosing an AI model: one prompt, 11 models, different results
That wasn't my intention and I sincerely did not mean any offense.
skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
> Honor, morality: if we don't have an accurate test for the fitness of a model, then who is to say the lying, cheating, stealing is not the 'correct path' towards survival?

I think part of the problem is that deviant behaviors lead to short term gain at the cost of long-term cooperation and since the duration of tasks given to agents is relatively short those successful shortcuts never lead to having to pay the price.

skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
Why do we need universal agreement? We acknowledge that different cultures have different tolerances and customs. Your reply leaves me wanting. Why say that we need to demonstrate how to live honorably if we don't even agree on what honor is, why would that be the panacea, then? I still think there is something to this honor idea..
skinfaxi··on Deutsche Bank becomes first foreign yuan clearing bank in Europe
Following Hurricane Sandy, many were left without power and ultimately even gas was strictly rationed. So it's not out of the ordinary to imagine an event like that happening.

skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
I think their point was, if you look at who controls the most resources, they are rarely the ones we would consider worthy of honor.
skinfaxi··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
How do we reward honor? Honor does not always pay off as a strategy and requires coordination in that other actors have to exhibit honor for it to be rewarded.

At least with humans there is a social backstop but what's the parallel for computer agents?

skinfaxi··on Choosing an AI model: one prompt, 11 models, different results
To see the hours, get a sense of the menu. There are many matcha shops by me for instance and my wife likes to check the specials before choosing which one to go to.
skinfaxi··on Choosing an AI model: one prompt, 11 models, different results
This is an interesting point. But even then everyone has their own style. Some might walk with a bit of a swagger, some with a limp, some might have to get in a wheelchair to go over. Would model temperature be another knob to turn beyond a more creative prompt?
skinfaxi··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
What is the broader point? Enterprise architects also are not responsible for implementing their ideas.
skinfaxi··on Delta
For me it's less about trust and more about practicality. If you are coordinating live in person while collaborating that is a bit different than trying to edit a doc multiple people are in, all remotely. When I had said it's not fun that's the case I had in mind.
