skeeterbug··on Node v0.12.0 (Stable)
I am just curious, what happens when people start writing ES6 io.js modules and posting them to NPM? Won't it be an issue for older versions of node? Is NPM going to start fragmenting because of this?
skeeterbug··on Photos Preview
No you are not living in the stone age. I keep photos backed up on an external drive. I also use CrashPlan to keep a copy of my files (encrypted) offsite so I won't lose my photos if my house burns down or is broken into.
skeeterbug··on Microsoft Acquires Calendar App Sunrise for North of $100M
I am on 4.4.4 (Samsung though). The default calendar and email apps are still on there. Doesn't Nexus remove the default Android browser and replace it with Chrome too?
skeeterbug··on Google Fiber is coming to Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham
Woah. I am at 40th st and Cactus. No gigabit here yet. Last time I had a tech out he was saying this area gets newer stuff quicker because we are so close to North Scottsdale.

EDIT North Scottsdale is generally first because that is where most of the company execs live.

skeeterbug··on Bye Bye JavaScript Promises
https://github.com/srikumarks/cspjs - The readme has benchmarks from bluebird generators. It is only 74 ms slower than the sweet.js solution. So the author knows.
skeeterbug··on Elixir v1.0.0 released
Well Dart runs in a VM outside of Chrome now and could be compared to NodeJS in that regard.
skeeterbug··on iOS 8 reviewed
I agree completely. IOS7 screwed over html5 devs so hard. IOS8 is just as bad. Putting overflow:hidden on a text area in IOS8 Safari makes it so the user can no longer scroll within to edit the text at the top. It also causes it to draw extremely weird on the screen (you see the border appear way above it). Putting a height of auto on an input is causing Safari to pop the keyboard open when trying to scroll (the page and happen to touch that element). File uploading is completely messed up too (http://blog.fineuploader.com/2014/09/10/ios8-presents-seriou...). We also have issues clicking buttons when the app is using a cache manifest and saved to the home screen. I will be having a few drinks over the next few weeks.
skeeterbug··on Ragnarok MMO open-source HTML5 client
It is free to play now. The comment I was replying to seemed to indicate it was the earlier years of RO. Maybe I was mistaken.
skeeterbug··on Ragnarok MMO open-source HTML5 client
iRO was not free. The only time it was free was during the beta IIRC. After that there was a fee.
skeeterbug··on Jest – Painless JavaScript Testing
Any plans to support AMD or just commonjs?
skeeterbug··on Jest – Painless JavaScript Testing
Curious - What are you using to transpile your ES6? Traceur?

skeeterbug··on Announcing TypeScript 0.9.1
What makes you think it is windows only?

npm install -g typescript

skeeterbug··on The Crucial/Micron M500 Review – 960GB SSD for $600
I have one at home right now. It is dogshit as well. Countless BSOD because of it.
skeeterbug··on Federal court tosses Colorado's Amazon tax
Roads, utilities, buildings have to be inspected by fire dept, etc.
skeeterbug··on Poll: Which text editor do you use daily?
Interesting. I have had VS 2010 lock up several times attempting to find in files. Searching the entire dojo source (7k some files) is very fast in Sublime Text 2. Though it is not a very fair comparison, my home PC has a solid state drive, while my work PC has a 7200RPM.

skeeterbug··on Launching the Kindle Fire was a mistake
My wife loves her kindle. She has purchased a few books, uses it for web browsing and a few games.
skeeterbug··on Netflix loses 800,000 subscribers (stock drops 28%)
I went back to Directv. I was already missing sports, so this move pushed me back in that direction.
skeeterbug··on Tell HN: I took your advice, quit my job, and am charging money for my software
EasyBCD is great! I could not for the life of me get grub to dual boot with my setup, so instead I used your tool and it worked out great using the Windows bootloader. Good luck with your venture.
skeeterbug··on It's official: developers get better with age. And scarcer.
If you have a higher reputation and give correct answers, couldn't we then assume that the older developers have a wider range of knowledge to be able to participate in more responses? Also, it is not really clear how "better" is defined in this case. Maybe it is "better" == I know more technologies than you?
skeeterbug··on Microsoft is Dead
