sizeofchar··on Brazil Bolsonaro: Facebook told to block accounts of president’s supporters
> Yeah, Bolsonaro was stabbed by a nutjob, and STF's ministers and family constantly receive threats from people online. Both affirmations are true, although that's not the reason for the censoring in question.

None of the censored made threats to any ministers, other than legal political activism. I would be surprised if you could link to just one occurrence of threat to ministers.

What is unfaithful is to say otherwise. The left in Brazil IS violent, period. They have a history with terrorism, in 70’s, agency with Cuba and USSR, the murdering of deserters (see Celso Daniel’s case), money laundering to finance despotic government abroad third world and their own plan “to be kept permanently on power“ - Dirceu again, has he retracted that as well?

sizeofchar··on Brazil Bolsonaro: Facebook told to block accounts of president’s supporters
Absolutely none of the censored did threat with physical aggressions. It is quite the opposite.

Bolsonaro was stabbed, and almost died, by a leftist activist, with former link to a far left party, PSOL.

Dirceu, the strategist head of PT, the main opposition to Bolsonaro, gave an interview recently saying that “it is time to retake position of power, which is not the same as winning the elections”.

Marcelo Freixo, currently the most popular politician from PSOL, was saying the left can’t simply resist the right, but must work to destroy it.

Alexandre de Moraes, the justice that is censoring brazilians worldwide was for more than 15 years advocate to criminals pertaining to PCC, the biggest drug smugglers mafia in Brazil. He was put in the court after a very suspect plane crash which killed a justice that was incriminating our last former president, Michel Temer.

sizeofchar··on Brazil Bolsonaro: Facebook told to block accounts of president’s supporters
There is nothing independent with Brazil’s court. They are just dismantling the executive powers so they and their own can be kept on power.

In Brazil, the Supreme Court is filled by presidential choice. Brazil had 25 consecutive years with social democratic and socialists presidents, so that every justice currently have been put there by them. Now that democracy turned to the right-wing, the losers aren’t accepting the results and the reforms being made, that takes out their privileges and positions of power.

I know barely nothing about India, but what you described certainly is not correlated to what is happening in Brazil.

I had the same thought. I myself used LXD for my personal server and I can't regret enough.

Not that I dislike LXD, but a good configured server won't require many interventions. In my case, I was about to upgrade some guest SO, and I had to relearn lots of things and remember what I did, even why, after about two years without touching it.

In fact, the biggest problem I had overall with LXD is not just the lack of documentation, but even understanding it and its terminologies.

I think he meant "bad sample" in the sense that those programmers aren't representative of abilities of average programmers. Ie, he thinks Google programmers are top programmers.
sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
Thanks for clarifying, but that was exactly my point.

> This is where the government's dishonesty comes in. They wanted to change the daily reports so that they would only include deaths that were added to the system in the same day where the person died. Any deaths that were not reported in the same day (which is the majority of deaths) would be left out of the statistics entirely.

I don't think this will be happening. I am sure they will keep counting daily deaths correctly, adding numbers to past days, and making it publicly available. They just will stop feeding the media trolls.

What we were having in fact was dishonesty from the media, claiming falsely that thousands of people died from covid-19 within 24 hours. They weren't making it clear that those deaths mostly happened in the last 45 days, so to create extreme reaction from its audience.

sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
I see contradiction between your two paragraphs. First, there is no cut to thousand deaths per day. But then, the government is able to do it?
sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
> 1) Bolsonaro paraphrases nazi slogan "the work sets you free"

That's merely a case of misinterpretation of his words. By using this method of finding nazis, you would conclude that every one is a nazi because nazis had red blood like all of us.

> 2) Bolsonaro drinks a glass of milk in one of his infamous Facebook livestreams a day after Brazil has its first neo nazi "protest" a LA Charlottesville.

Fact-checked to be false. Revista Forum is a well known fake news site. [1]

> 3) Minister of education compares Supreme Court investigation against Jair Bolsonaro to the holocaust, going as far as posting "SIEG HEIL" on his Twitter account

Can you read portuguese? He was accusing his politicals opponents of treating him like nazis treated jews. And in fact he is from a jewish family that fled from nazi Germany.

> 4) His slogan, of course, "Brasil acima de todos" which paraphrases the nazi slogan "Deutschland uber alles"

Same as point 1. You can't get loose expressions from people, put them in whatever context you would like, and pretend it is true or even a fact.

And he fired the guy in the same day, you forgot to mention. Also, that culture minister was set up to that piece by foul assistants, he didn’t knew what the piece was about.
sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
Wasn’t this the guy who said there would be hundreds of thousands of deaths In Brazil by now?
sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
Yes, Brazil is very far from being hard hit. We aren’t having colapse in our health system. This death count is mostly inevitable, by the nature of the disease. It is indeed much lower than predicted by March, where some were pointing numbers as high as 500k deaths by May.
sizeofchar··on Coronavirus: Hard-hit Brazil removes data amid rising death toll
This is not true at all. We are not having thousand deaths per day, but thousand confirmations of death by covid per day, meaning that most of those died in past days.

sizeofchar··on Show HN: Caddy 2
I am a happy user of Caddy v1, and I want to thank you developers! It's made my life much easier, managing TLS automatically for my home server, and having a less than 10 lines adequate config for 3 web services I use behind it. I even forgot I was using Caddy, which is a proof of how great it is for systems integration.

I'll be looking forward to v2 in a few weeks, when I will upgrade to newer ubuntu and go full ZFS.

Thank you!

sizeofchar··on Lambda School’s Misleading Promises
> What pains me is the embarrassment of appearing like some clueless fool who got caught up in some get-rich-quick scheme. I love programming, and I just wanted a structured curriculum to train as a professional.

Been there. I think this feeling comes mostly from the fact that this initiative has had a lot of attention, and of course, a lot of public criticism from people that weren't really able to give qualified opinion.

If you are having a good time there, if you are perceiving value, learning new things that makes sense and seem useful, just ignore those bad opinions and try not to think how others are looking at you.

I myself had a course on investing given by a moderately famous youtuber, and the environment around it was full of sarcasm and debauchery. I somehow managed to ignore it, took the course to the bone and now, less than 12 months after finishing, had a more than 3-fold return on the money I spent on it.

sizeofchar··on Apple’s Use of Swift in iOS 13
Swift is my dream programming language as well, but I tried (2 years ago) reimplementing some python scripts in it and I had a hard time with things as simple as printing to the terminal (which involved distinct libraries and methods for mac and linux), and other things I don't remember very well at the moment.

But I do remember having to implement myself protocols for standard library types, most of them obviously belonged to the standard libraries, they even had theses protocols as examples in Apple's docs.

The language is truly great, but was not ready for primetime out of Cocoa apps.

Has anything changed?

That’s it! For the Chinese they were great. What was gained by Brazil, if not some temporary seats on some international bureaucracy, with hardly any Brazilian commons ever hearing of it?
sizeofchar··on Brazil waives visas for visitors from U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan
Not only this, but even if the money comes back anyhow (and I am casting doubt on it, never heard of any insurances) all the international influence built will be lost, because it was done specifically for the parties of some countries supporting tyrants.

There was no plan for Brazilian international relevance, but a plan for colluded political parties, to disintegrate nationalities.

sizeofchar··on Brazil waives visas for visitors from U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan
What is ideological about my statements? There are only facts with named actors in it. Or simply by casting the wrong names makes it be tagged ideological?
sizeofchar··on Brazil waives visas for visitors from U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan
Your second paragraph is ideological gibberish. Brazil was always miles distant from leading BRICS, which is merely a buzzword to captivate through vanity the minds of theirs political elites.

By playing international influence game, the workers party managed to overflow Brazilian market with cheap and unfairly produced Chinese industrial goods, paying for it by selling most of our mineral commodities and committing with money-sink international projects with African dictatorships.

At the same time, the aforementioned party gave billions of dollars in infrastructure projects throughout Latin America bolivarian states, that without a doubt won't make returns in any way.

If that is what you call "international influence", I'm relieved we gave it up.

sizeofchar··on AMD’s Rome is indeed a monster
They started using watermarks this way when their news were plagiarized some 5 years ago by even big sites such as WCCFTech, Tom’s and others. It is ugly but understandable, they are independent, don’t live on ads, aren’t invited for most events and barely receive pre-release hardware for reviews.
