Did you file bugs explaining these problems? That's the first step for someone to look at them.

Second step is, of course, if you can even fix them yourself.

There is one difference that will never change: we human (and non human) beings can feel pain.

siwatanejo··on FTX/SBF: Alameda wallets funnel over 1.7M via crypto mixers overnight
You don't seem to understand what "counterparty risk" means. If all FTX users had used a non custodial exchange to purchase crypto, the CEO of that non-custodial exchange would not have access to any customer funds, so he would not be able to commit any crime like that.
siwatanejo··on FTX/SBF: Alameda wallets funnel over 1.7M via crypto mixers overnight
So what the DOJ should learn from this is to not allow bail to perpretaros of cryptocurrency-related scams.
siwatanejo··on FTX/SBF: Alameda wallets funnel over 1.7M via crypto mixers overnight
The only thing that allowed this in the first place is counterparty risk, the very problem that bitcoin actually solves. People will have to learn this the hard way, unfortunately.
siwatanejo··on All I want for Christmas is these seven TypeScript improvements
> I want a ‘pure’ keyword. Any function that is pure can only call functions that are also keyworded as pure. No side effects, guaranteed.

It's better to default to the best practice. What you should wish is for an `impure` keyword and then all impure functions that are not marked as such would raise a compiler warning.

siwatanejo··on Can Duolingo actually teach you Spanish?
I've been looking for ages for a way to learn chinese with pinyin (or just audio, no chinese characters), please don't give up.
siwatanejo··on Proof of work is temporarily illegal in New York
Sure, so compare them with Google if you want (because I guess google's electricity bill for data centers is huge). Now, why would you want to forbid what bitcoin miners do with the energy they purchase while you don't forbid what Google does with the energy they purchase?
siwatanejo··on Proof of work is temporarily illegal in New York
Bitcoin mining uses energy, it does not generate it. What needs to be regulated is the dirty ways of producing energy, they should be banned out right. All fossil fuels.

But miners just pay their energy bills like any other citizen. Who are you to tell them what activity should they perform with the energy they purchase?

Mmm ok it might be true that he has technical knowledge, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there. But thing is, some things he does really suck big time, such as claiming he's the founder of Tesla (merit stealing smell right there) or maskerading their driving assistance system as FSD, when it's well known that his system is the worst in the market (probably will stay like that until they add Lidar sensors).
siwatanejo··on Housing is at the root of many of the rich world’s problems (2020)
> because the reward for having merit - money - is itself an effective substitute for merit.

True! It's exactly what happens with, for example, the richest man in the world right now. Everyone loves him because they think he has so much merit, but he's just a glorified recruiter and/or magnate, he doesn't have any technical knowledge at all.

siwatanejo··on Housing is at the root of many of the rich world’s problems (2020)
Exactly, and the ironic thing is that the most insightful comment in this page is coming from a throaway account (possibly because of the fear of reputation-burn or something...).
siwatanejo··on Man who robbed bank to get his own money back hailed as national hero
Holding foreign currency (USD)is not that easy and if there is a "corralito" event like the one that happened in Argentina, your USD is at risk too.
siwatanejo··on Man who robbed bank to get his own money back hailed as national hero
Oh well that's interesting. I myself have never had this problem in the countries I live.

> noone will trade with you

There are P2P non custodial exchanges where you can sell your BTC in person (e.g. LocalCryptos), in case you need to stop hodling for some sudden expense, like the medical bills for your dad.

siwatanejo··on Man who robbed bank to get his own money back hailed as national hero
> How would self-custody of BTC allowed this man to pay for his father's medical bills? As far as I'm aware the hospital did not accept bitcoin payments.

Sell your BTC for cash, in person.

> There have also been several instances in time where BTC has lost 80% of its value (and many more instances of 50%+)

Better than the 90% inflation (or withdrawal "correction") in Lebanon.
