I've been to 50+ interviews on both sides of the table and can tell you there is always a few questions you can ask to determine someones development competency.
Not to mention I have literally thousands of hours of work I can send you from PSDs to code if you want to dive into my work.
I disagree-- it would appear to be exactly the opposite if you look at current design trends (checkout dribbble.com), cards look to be a very big yes-yes in the design community. I believe googles implementation of the cards within Google+ very poor UX. If they made each card the same height so your eyes can move about the page more orderly it might make Google+ more palatable. You are right in that it is very hard to digest the content with that design.
Wish someone would make a solid angular dropzone+cropper.
Seems like a ton of options available. Some expensive and some not. Many features to consider like storage limits, power source, integrated rear-view cams, etc.
I'm definitely an outlier. I've yet to meet someone holding it down in the Bay Area with a developers title who didn't have a degree. It's always a look of surprise when asked where I went to college and I respond "I didn't.". Part of me wishes I had, the other part wishes I was less lazy. The ladder in me knows there isn't a thing I can learn in college I couldn't teach myself on my own.
I once asked a genius colleague of mine (also founder and now millionaire at 29) who went to school for biology and wound up a developer if he felt he wasted his time pursuing biology. His response "No, it taught me how to learn.". I really liked that response, obviously it's stuck with me. For many things you need a degree (health fields etc) but for most everything else you need the ability to learn and learn well.
Should I be worried?
It reminds me of Massdrop. You expect to get a deal by purchasing something in "mass" with others but it turns out you are paying at best Amazon retail price but most likely MORE than you would pay buying from Amazon not to mention shipping costs.
