sirbutters··on Carlos Slim cancels his collaboration with Elon Musk's Starlink
I get some animal farm vibe reading this. I'm looking at the US gov and I'm looking a the cartels, and I can't figure out which one is which. The way this US gov is operating, they pretty much operate likes cartels "we are the boss, you stfu and you do as we say, or else".
sirbutters··on "Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies" – Executive Order
Exactly, the one area where he would lose the crowd is if he goes against the conservative "christians". ie: if he openly embraces LGBTQ, fully supports abortion rights, taxes churches etc. Only then would these people revolt.
sirbutters··on "Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies" – Executive Order
Propaganda via Xitter successfully got the orange turd elected and the propaganda machine will only get worse (TikTok, deep fakes etc). Democrats will never hold the presidency again. At best they will occasionally get the House, and I'm not sure until when that still will be a possibility.
sirbutters··on Tesla Cybertruck Drives Itself into a Pole, Owner Says 'Thank You Tesla'
The very fact this is a cybetruck owner, that already tells you you're dealing with a fanboy (aka cult member). edit: over simplification of course, but not far off from the truth
sirbutters··on Musk-led group makes $97B bid for control of OpenAI
I've been uncomfortable with this shit stain since he took over twitter. And it has gotten exponentially worse ever since he endorsed the orange clown.
sirbutters··on Mistral releases its AI assistant on iOS and Android
Can we abandon twitter links please.
sirbutters··on DOGE employees ordered to stop using Slack
haha, well said.
sirbutters··on What's happening inside the NIH and NSF
Bro gets his news from X. hahahahaha. Adorable.
sirbutters··on The young, inexperienced engineers aiding DOGE
The cult of personality would die though, with a considerable impact to the regime. We've been predicting the death of orange man for years considering his diet, and yes it's a miracle he's lived this long, but an often understated asset of his is that he doesn't drink an once of alcohol. That can help him survive way past his 2nd term, I think.
sirbutters··on Order Declassifying JFK and MLK Assassination Records [pdf]
Bullseye. That's exactly what will happen. They have much more to gain by keeping some of the mystery. If they hand out a black and white explanation they have 1 less leverage to manipulate the mass.
sirbutters··on The young, inexperienced engineers aiding DOGE
Key word here is "cannot be elected more than twice". So as long as there is no official election, he is not technically violating the constitution by remaining in power. I'm playing devil's advocate here.
sirbutters··on Commercial jet collides with Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan airport
And yet, completely unsurprising. I know there is no limit to how low this pathetic human being can go.
sirbutters··on Ross Ulbricht granted a full pardon
Of all the issues in this country that really has impact on millions of people, I am baffled when I hear people only caring about 1 person and not care about the common good of society and the hundreds of millions of people in the US who live in it. Fascinating and depressing.
sirbutters··on Ross Ulbricht granted a full pardon
Yea right. Drugs and violence are never mixed together /s. Just because he didn't commit violence himself (let's exclude his murder for hire. ahem.) does not mean no violence was ever caused because of his market place.
sirbutters··on Ross Ulbricht granted a full pardon
Bailing him out comes at no cost? That's one way to see it. In my opinion, it sends a message that as long as you can provide value to this new administration, you get preferential treatment - no matter how shady and unethical your business ventures are.
sirbutters··on Why America's economy is soaring ahead of its rivals
"hence the last vote".

You are implying that logic fits the results. It doesn't.

sirbutters··on Trump's likely FCC chair wrote Project 2025 chapter on how he'd run the agency
You forgot the part where social media companies are fully on board with extreme conservative agenda, and more people will be brainwashed. IMO Trump would have never won if it wasn't for Rogan, Elmo and his xitter. It's completely over. The only thing I hope happens - to prevent this country from being a 1 party system in perpetuity - is inner conflicts within the republican party that ends up dividing them and help create a new party to help recalibrate. But it will just be "extreme right" vs "very extreme right".
sirbutters··on Trump wins presidency for second time
It's not a tie for Gaza. Trump is the one who provoked and moved the US embassy to Jerusalem. With his SIL being jewish, and his love for authoritarian regime like Bibi's - in what world do you think he gives a flying F about Palestinians? The left disappointed us for Gaza, but Trump will be much worse.

With regards to Ukraine - how do you judge the accuracy of the French documentary you watched? Who financed it? Even in a far fetched scenario where you believe Putin felt threaten with NATO closer to his borders - does that suddenly make it ok for him to invade a sovereign state? Especially given they made an agreement to respect their territory in exchange for Ukraine giving up their nukes? Oh right - Russia's word means sh!t.

PS: Stein is fully in Putin's pocket. Don't buy the Green Party BS who only exists for a few months every 4 years.

sirbutters··on Trump's likely FCC chair wrote Project 2025 chapter on how he'd run the agency
With republicans in power and the gerrymandering that will be allowed by the SCOTUS, and with a president who will never admit defeat and order his VP to not certify an election that doesn't go his way - in what world do you see democrats ever having power in America again? It's 100% over. We've become Russia. EDIT: a word
sirbutters··on Trump wins presidency for second time
no, no, he really meant 8, at least. Laws and constitution don't mean shit no more.
sirbutters··on Trump wins presidency for second time
Well said.
sirbutters··on Trump wins presidency for second time
If Putin orders him to, he will.
sirbutters··on Trump wins presidency for second time
Key word here is "elected". Prepare for their justification like "well XYZ is not really an election so...."
sirbutters··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
No need to be pedantic about it. Bump stocks can do just as much damage as a full auto weapon. SC is fine with that accessory in the hands of millions of citizens. As if we didn't have enough gun violence in this country.
sirbutters··on ICC prosecutor seeks arrest warrants against Sinwar and Netanyahu for war crimes
Certainly wouldn't want US or IDF soldiers to be held accountable. smh.
sirbutters··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
I know, right? We all know Musk is a good guy and would continue to offer generous packages, even if he could get away with not offering anything.
sirbutters··on What I learned trying to classify abortion access across the rich world
You want to talk about good faith? You just said "people who've had abortions, many regret it". Without even providing a ratio.

UCSF studies show 95% of women who went through abortion believe it was the right decision.

In another response in this thread you pretend to be neutral about the debate, but the example I mentioned above makes you dishonest and clearly opinionated one way.

sirbutters··on Supreme Court Overturns Roe vs. Wade
Because they are hypocrites (it's a fact, not a judgement). And it's interesting because hypocrites is one of the things that Jesus specifically calls out in the Gospel and seem to have much disdain for them. As a Catholic, I practice my faith with as much common sense as I can, to not judge, and forgive, as Jesus wanted us to.

As such, I am against the death penalty, against "preemptive" wars (of course defending your territory being invaded is justified), against 2nd amendment, and support women's right for abortion. To me, this is common sense that aligns with Jesus' message.

I cannot picture the loving Christ looking at a 13 year old child pregnant because of rape/incest and go "this new life is a miracle and it was my will". I reject this notion of "every conception was God's will and is sacred".

sirbutters··on Apple already scans iCloud Mail for CSAM, but not iCloud Photos
This comment should be way up. People afraid of "what else" Apple can start scanning on our devices has always been a reality, way before CSAM. If they ever decided to remove the feature, it's not like it will magically make it impossible for Apple to ever scan our devices again in the future. They can run whatever code they want on their device. We've always put our trust on Apple to not do any shady things on our phone. This new outrage makes no sense at all. As you said, people can turn iCloud Photos off to disable the scan. Therefore people need to STFU.
sirbutters··on 68% of the top links on Facebook since September are in support of Donald Trump
I agree, let's get rid of the electoral college, and we'll never have to deal with incompetent republicans in the WH again.
