siphr··on Angry Birds Maker Sued for Patent Violation
The greed machine is at it again. This is exactly why I hate patents. Innovate or take a seat and be entertained. Do not leech or you'll bring the whole system down.
siphr··on Who's your SSH buddy?
Well on the surface nothing, however login credentials can be stolen easily. Focus is on "easily". Sure keys maybe hijacked but the problem becomes non trivial and I am all for making burglars jump through a monkey bar before they even get to the door.
siphr··on What G+ is really about (pst it's not social)
Nicely done and easier to follow. Although I think just like any good business Facebook cannot let it's guard down no matter what this presentation says.
siphr··on All about 64-bit programming in one place
Sigh! This article is probably a few years too late. It would've been handy when alot of people like myself were doing ports a while. Having said that it may still be useful for late adopters.
siphr··on US claims all .com and .net websites are in its jurisdiction
I think this is typical U.S. spoilt brat mentality. We need a new internet :).
siphr··on US claims all .com and .net websites are in its jurisdiction
Marked down?! For what?
siphr··on US claims all .com and .net websites are in its jurisdiction
Yes I agree. I think this typical U.S. spoilt brat mentality. We need a new internet :).
siphr··on Illustrated Calculus Textbook
I like this. I think it derive's a bit from Khan's Academy in that it tries to make it look casual and fun.
siphr··on Toss Your Expectations Into the Ocean
Haha nice, I publish an essay on amazon kindle a few months ago along the same line. http://www.amazon.co.uk/To-Be-Human-ebook/dp/B00551JJTM/ref=...
siphr··on Ask HN: What documentaries are worth watching?
Well interest in documentaries could be varied by your personal domain of interest. Since you've not mentioned any particular domain, I'll give you a list of the ones I think were great.

1. Century of Self 2. BBC Horizon Infinity and Beyond 3. BBC Horizon Is Seeing Believing 4. BBC Dangerous Knowledge 5. The Shadow Factory 6. Get Lamp 7. Human Experience

Hope that helps.

siphr··on Making a Ponyo boat
Nice. This design of creating a toy boat has been extremely popular in south east asia for atleast the past 20 years. It's good to see it here again. Nothing beats nostalgia. :)
siphr··on 20 WebGL sites that will blow your mind
I just tried out Rome in Firefox. Seemed to work fine. It's nicely done.
siphr··on Arch Linux Packages Visualization
I fell in love with Arch about 2 years ago and have stayed loyal since. :)
siphr··on Top 20 Motivation Hacks
Nice validating read. All of the points quoted in this are discussed in detail in Richard Wiseman's "59 Seconds" book. He references scientific studies associated with all of these points.

According to that book #5 is a big no no. Wiseman claims (and shows with references) that conducted studies suggest that visualisation actually has adverse affects on a person's ability to actually achieve a goal.

siphr··on How do I create my own programming language and a compiler for it
Two words. Lex and Yacc. These are freely available tools that should (if nothing else) atleast give you solid launching platform into writing your own language.
siphr··on Implementing Pure Functions (in D)
Informative. Anybody know what the status of D is? Have people started using it in their projects hobby or even commercial?
siphr··on AFDS11: Microsoft Announces C++ AMP, Competitor to OpenCL
I agree. Microsoft's childish attitude towards reinventing the wheel and hijacking ownership is adversely affecting progress in technology.
siphr··on Do you have trouble waking up? Please take a survey and help our #startup
I can smell another retarded app Idea on it's way.
siphr··on How I Learned to Live Google-free
I agree, if you hadn't said it I would've. Other search engines existed before google. There were other ways to walk the net be it not that fast or somewhat accurate.
siphr··on Stallman: EBooks are "attacking our freedom"
I have to disagree with RMS here. As an example of ebooks attacking our freedom, I agree with someone else that the problem is DRM and not the ebooks. Amazon, for example, lets the publisher choose whether they would like DRM in their ebooks or not. More so, the publishing platform lets the publisher to allow lending. The issue of Amazon wiping out 1984 is one of those things that has been done to death as a news article on the internet. Sure it was wrong, but from the copyright holder's point of view, it may be justified.
siphr··on The Dangerous Mr. Khan
I agree. One correction though you are confusing Khan with Kahn. There is a difference.
siphr··on Anonymous message to NATO
Yes I agree. I was thinking the exact same thing when I was reading it.
siphr··on Why is America the 'no-vacation nation'?
I can second this. It is one of those documentaries that you need to see at least once before you die. Very informative.
siphr··on C++ at Google: Here Be Dragons
Well written! The simple bugs that it seems to detect are fairly high frequency so it should therefore improve overall code quality. Looking forward to playing around with this in my spare time.
siphr··on Why is America the 'no-vacation nation'?
