I had the privilege to attend a talk by Jun Ye, one of Hall's previous advisees, a few months back about frequency combs. I really felt honored meeting the person who is so tapped into the work being done at JILA. Lots of amazing, mind bending work.

Today marks the start of my robotics phd in a lab focused on trajectory optimization and optimal control. Coincidence I came across this? Nope. Go rust for robotics!

I'm betting my money on causality. These kinds of articles ignore how the EPR experiment may demonstrate nonlocality, but does not allow information exchange faster than the speed of light. I don't think we'll ever break that barrier.

The idea of night trains is incredible, but in practice they are brittle to rely on (at least in Europe).

I remember sitting at the Padova rail station until 3AM waiting for the beloved night train to Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna) to arrive; the train was four hours late. Let's not neglect to acknowledge the downsides.

Even after that bad experience, I still support them as a great alternative to air travel, but I hope for more reliability in the future.
