sim04ful··on DeepSeek-V4-Flash Update
That's an absolutely terrible idea for any non-trivial project consuming it.
sim04ful··on DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 Intelligence, Performance and Price Analysis
I can't help but feel the timing coinciding with luna's price updates to be somewhat strategic. But without multi-modality it's slightly dead-in-the-water for my usecase: https://design.withfudge.com. I'm currently using Minimax-M3, but Luna ekes out abit futher on the intelligence, so i'll be switching to it very soon.
sim04ful··on DeepSeek-V4-Flash Update
Why didn't they increment the version as atleast a patch update
sim04ful··on Jack Dorsey launches Buzz to combine team chat, AI agents and Git hosting
Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels like the economics of software are shifting. If companies can afford software tailored to their exact workflows for less than the annual cost of a single engineer, what does the moat of a traditional SaaS company become?
sim04ful··on Kimi K3, Qwen 3.8, and Anthropic's (Potential) Unravelling
If there's any hope for AI sovereignty and equality, we would have to either make expensive models cheap to run or make cheaper models do less work.

Making the latter happen involves either reformulating work in ways less intelligent LLMs can work better with. Or condensing intelligence into smaller models.

I'm not sure about the harness now: https://github.com/lidge-jun/opencodex
sim04ful··on HMD Touch 4G
I recently found my old Nokia Lumia 800.it behaved rather smoothly with the metro ui, ofcourse nothing worked aside phone calls
sim04ful··on Codex Resets
I'm starting to think It might be a good idea to stay with American models, by virtue of them feeling so threatened they give out more and more free perks.
sim04ful··on Hardcore IndieWeb: Run your own website 100% independently for only $0.01/day
The cost doesn't really matter as much as the payment methods, especially at that price point.

Payment methods are inherently discriminatory.

sim04ful··on If You Build It, They Will Come
This is indeed part of the something i've been internalising for quite a while. I've always felt i needed to improve my social circle by finding/making one, but i realised it's better to just have hobbies and skill sets that make me useful and relevant to a certain niche and then my circle would naturally arise from there.

It's also why i'm trying to participate more here, even with the crippling imposters syndrome that prevents me from contributing anything...It's so difficult actively participating in a group that seemingly got cultivated from a culture somewhat alien to my own upbringing.

sim04ful··on Show HN: Spellsurf – Create words from words
Some of my favorites: Disquake obvermeiled obinn

i'm curious how did you make the two word-gen merge so naturally ?

sim04ful··on Show HN: Spellsurf – Create words from words
I love this. It's so difficult to coin words that both sound familiar but are unique.
sim04ful··on Brainless: Shadcn components that look like Claude Code, Codex and Grok
I love this!
sim04ful··on Cyberpunk Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels
I've honestly not ever considered Ghost in the shell to be under the cyberpunk genre. It's too clean and the characters too ingrained in the working of the system. And the system "works", it's not a sanitised depiction, gits society feels much like our own with a detailed techno-realism it's a society still at the transitional point to something more radical; exemplified by humans still doing very manual things - take for example that classic scene from the 1995 film, where the man uses multiple fingers to extremely fast into a terminal, this would seem impressive but pales in comparison to a direct cyberbrain connection, they still have terminals because this is a world still in transition. Another of my favourite but less known scenes is this scene from gitsac: https://paul.kishimoto.name/2017/01/barcodes/

Prolog would have been a better choice
sim04ful··on GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra produces proof of the Cycle Double Cover Conjecture [pdf]
I find it somewhat interesting only 1/5th of the prompt has to do with the actual problem, rest is just cajoling the harness into shape.
sim04ful··on Computation as a universal and fundamental concept
I really do think matter wants to be sentient, being sentient is natural. Why i think that exactly, i'm not sure why, it just seems intuitive.
sim04ful··on Good Tools Are Invisible
I would also say good tools have better "physics" they've got some coherent internal model that is somewhat easy to intuit about.
sim04ful··on EVE Online's Carbon engine is now open source: Fenris Creations explains why
Jokes aside apparently they've hired economist to keep the game's market's stable.
sim04ful··on It's not about physical vs. digital games, it's about ownership
Actual digital ownership is what i hoped from NFTs.
sim04ful··on Show HN: Logo Design for Busy Founders
I'm curious, you didn't realize you could click any of the existing logos to edit them ?
sim04ful··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
One thing i've got to wonder. Would this always remain the case, at what point should society seriously consider the "personhood" of an AI (as a noun).
sim04ful··on AI learns the “dark art” of RFIC design
Then why can't these constraints be encoded into the selection/scoring function ?
sim04ful··on Previewing GPT‑5.6 Sol: a next-generation model
Sol and 5.5 pro are in parity at $5 input / $30 output. What I'm inferring from this is that: - model weight size didn't change, and this is mostly a result of better model architecture and scaled up RL - better hardware utilization and and they're making better margins OR - worse hardware utilization and they're okay with digging into their margins.
sim04ful··on Previewing GPT‑5.6 Sol: a next-generation model
"We're also launching GPT‑5.6 Sol on Cerebras at up to 750 tokens per second in July, bringing frontier intelligence to customers at unprecedented speed. Access will initially be limited to select customers as we expand capacity."

This seems like it would be the largest and first closed-source model Cerebras has offered till date

sim04ful··on Crypto in 2026: Oh, This Is the Bad Place
I simply cannot see how crypto can go mainstream without first solving the on-ramp experience.
sim04ful··on Ask HN: Will programmers write more efficient code during the memory shortage?
I certainly hope so, it's cheaper than ever to write native code, but if sub-trillion dollar valuated companies like OpenAI have done the math and still use electron for the codex app, one has to ponder what was considered.
sim04ful··on How many of the 170k English words do you know?
I notice that the concept related to the right answer sometimes has an opposite counterpart.
sim04ful··on Show HN: Write SaaS apps where users control where their data is stored
Awesome project, love how straight to the point your landing page is. I was building something similar to linkedrecords but on the internet computer (https://internetcomputer.org), i went about things naively compared to this, and decided working on the problem wasn't worth as much effort as completely reformulating it (different topic)

Yeah i feel separating compute from data is one of the best directions the industry can move towards, it means less lock-in, more flexibility and user agency as well as more personal compute utilisation (increasingly important with the cloud compute pricing-in the RAM supply crisis).

Could i ask, what made you decide to work on this ? personal and/or enterprise ?

sim04ful··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
I’m building https://design.withfudge.com, a Prolog-backed design search engine that lets designers/agents query structured design knowledge from real websites. It uses data from my other startup, https://fontofweb.com, to help designers find concrete inspiration e.g fonts, colors, layouts, screenshots, and patterns, so they can make better design decisions.
