Ars has been featuring Stack Exchange questions, with their permission for quite some time. I think it's some sort of partnership. http://arstechnica.com/author/stack-exchange/

Opera planned to adopt WebKit+v8, but since they are moving to Blink they will be fine.

4.5 million lines spread over 7,000 files is only ~642 lines per file, so I doubt there is an extra zero. Perhaps they included whitespace and comments in their count.
signed0··on Aereo Wins Appeal - Trial Likely for Streaming TV
I'm surprised that PBS was one of the plaintifs. I can't fathom how Aereo's service harms them, given that they do not show commercials. Do they believe that this is going to reduce the amount of people that watch telethons or buy their show on DVD?

Amusing post. The links on the left side of your page seem to overlap the text, not sure if that's intentional. http://imgur.com/Kg4rCpI on Mountain Lion + Chrome.

That was my first thought as well. Just extending the white translucent box all the way to the bottom of the page would make a big difference.
signed0··on How To Hire Me (or any other programmer)
Ah, I was imagining a huge page filled with resumes in the same vein as a wall of text.
signed0··on Adria Richards: ‘I’m staying safe’
And yet this article completely misses this:

> Then the internet erupted, as male developers saw one of their own attacked for something that just about every man can envision himself doing.

There were plenty of female developers that also expressed outrage, that also admitted to making similar jokes. The root cause of this entire debacle is that everything keeps being framed as a battle between all male developers vs a lone female developer.

So it's like a firewall but for resumes?
signed0··on How To Hire Me (or any other programmer)
Can someone explain what a "resume wall" is.
signed0··on Infringement of 9Gag's trademark [pdf]
In that case you could open source it and let people build their own apk.
signed0··on Infringement of 9Gag's trademark [pdf]
Seems like they are saying "Take down your app or we will complain to Google and have them take it down". If this is the case, what is the harm in leaving it in the Play Store and forcing them to jump through hoops?

If they do get it taken out of the Play Store, you could always provide the .apk for people to download.

signed0··on Sorry Google; you can Keep it to yourself
Keep and Reader are built for different groups of users. Reader was a niche product used by a small (but vocal) subset of all Google users. Keep is a product built for everyone.
signed0··on The PyCon Incident
When I first heard of this I was expecting another "CouchDb: perform like a pr0n star" indecent. After learning that the offending comments were made in private, not by one of the speakers, and of their lack of explicitness, this entire thing seems entirely overblown.

"While I did make a big dongle joke about a fictional piece hardware that identified as male, no sexual jokes were made about forking. My friends and I had decided forking someone's repo is a new form of flattery (the highest form being implementation) and we were excited about one of the presenters projects; a friend said "I would fork that guys repo" The sexual context was applied by Adria, and not us."

"Nothing material-wise has changed with the hinges, and we kept them visible so you still know strong the laptop is."

signed0··on Uber Drivers Protest Outside the Company’s San Francisco Headquarters
If they are telling riders this, then everyone will end up giving drivers a 5 unless they had a bad experience. This artificially inflates every score such that a 5 score ends lumping in the exceptional drivers with the slightly above average.

I would imagine they meant the former. If they wanted to say it was popular they would compare it to Angry Birds.

This appears to be just for Android, not the Chrome browser.
signed0··on Google Reader shutting down
While I am an avid Google Reader user, I think this is good news. Their product has stagnated over the past few years, yet few competitors emerged. Hopefully this creates a void that a better service or set of services can fill.

It would be really nice if there was an official Twitter account with status updates for things like this. Might reduce the amount of refreshing.

signed0··on Stop Corporate Takeover of New Internet Names
I somewhat doubt that most of these new domains will catch on. We already have .jobs, .aero, .travel and .mobi which I have yet to run into while browsing the web.

Plus people have already gotten used to recognizing a domain name simply by having a string of characters followed by .com or one of the other popular TLDs. Trying to keep them from prefixing the domain with www has been a losing battle.

I could see .app taking off though.

In both cases those that hate them spend far too much time expressing their hatred.
