sieep··on F# 10
.NET is really good nowadays & does well cross platform, absolutely worth trying.
sieep··on Gen Z first generation since 1800's with lower cognitive performance
I'll pay attention when a reliable and trustworthy institution decides to claim this
sieep··on I now assume that all ads on Apple news are scams
so you're saying this is a real product and the ad you saw(then purchased from) was a fake?
sieep··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
Didn't the Anthropic CEO claim we would be replaced by this AI tech by now? Here's Anthropic moving their own goal post in real time:

sieep··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
Heres $20b in VC funding. Congrats!
sieep··on OpenClaw is basically a cascade of LLMs in prime position to mess stuff up
OpenClaw seems good at exposing sensitive data. How do you even know anything on that site was generated by an agent? The entire api was out in the open without any sort of validation.
sieep··on AI controls is coming to Firefox
Seriously...I would pay for web browsing, reddit, HackerNews, etc. to exclude all AI stuff. Thats more money than ive spent on AI products.
sieep··on Show HN: Moltbook – A social network for moltbots (clawdbots) to hang out
yup...so sad. And we seem to be the 'unpopular opinion' these days..
sieep··on Oban, the job processing framework from Elixir, has come to Python
Oban is incredible and this type of software will continue to grow in importance. Kudos!
sieep··on Oban, the job processing framework from Elixir, has come to Python
Excellent point. Never thought of transactions in this way.
sieep··on Thief of $90M in seized U.S.-controlled crypto is gov't contractor's son
We don't really do the whole calling people stupid or flaming around here. You can make your point and leave it at that or don't comment. This sort of behavior will get you banned by the very active mod team in the future. You can refresh yourself on the guidelines of the site: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

Here's a section just for you: "When disagreeing, please reply to the argument instead of calling names."

sieep··on People who know the formula for WD-40
Ive heard from others that this is how defense software engineering goes.

You write code for a certain part/spec that could go on a number of things (missle, airplane, etc). You dont know if your code will be used in a missile or not.

sieep··on How scientists are using Claude to accelerate research and discovery
Honestly, it was fun ride HN but the never ending AI blog spam & advertising is 'gumming the works'.

The writing is on the wall that AI will continue to dominate discussion on here for the forseeable future (yawn...)

Its time for me to move to a space where the AI bros are not, wherever that may be. I hope to see some of you there!

sieep··on jQuery 4
believe me if it was up to me I would get off framework this week hahaha
sieep··on jQuery 4
all these kids chasing the new frameworks...jQuery and .NET framework have always kept me fed!
sieep··on Cloudflare acquires Astro
jumped on the same train, still using astro in production but on the side im using Elixir to create an SSG to use moving forward for anything new.
sieep··on Denmark's struggle to break up with Silicon Valley
I just can't see it happening. The United States benefits from decades of compounding advantages compared to the EU: elite research universities, talent pipelines, mature capital markets, and tons of integrated industries (fintech).

This is obvious in the recent AI race. EU-headquartered companies remain rare compared to their US/Chinese counterparts.

sieep··on Ask HN: Share your personal website

sieep··on Replit founder Amjad Masad isn’t afraid of Silicon Valley
Excellent point. With that being said, I think there is market potential for replit, specifically in the middle ground between 'not knowing any code' and 'full on developer using an IDE/Cursor'.
sieep··on Slopware.wtf – Roasting AI-Generated Garbage Software
Nothing like AI-generated garbage software that is dedicated to highlighting other AI-generated garbage. What are yall even doing anymore? lol
sieep··on The Target forensics lab (2024)
I can actually comment on this a bit as I ran an eBay business during college selling second-hand clothes. A lot of it is about volume and brand. For example, women made up a majority of our sales even if it was men's clothing. Certain brands like Nike, Polo sold better & having hundreds of items up vs. just one and having 5 stars. All of that combined allowed us to sell items daily.
sieep··on The Target forensics lab (2024)
Great point! I know some pretty advanced statistical analysis is used in my friend's case to detect anomalies in ordering, shipping, etc.
sieep··on The Target forensics lab (2024)
I have a friend who works for Nordstorm doing this kind of work. She claimed the bigger problem financially is employees in retail, i.e. stealing clothes in large scale to be sold on eBay.
sieep··on Show HN: TCP chat server written in C# and .NET 9, used in the terminal
Good write up, thanks for taking the time to go into detail. I may try to implement your feedback at some point.
sieep··on Show HN: TCP chat server written in C# and .NET 9, used in the terminal
Thank you! I think it goes against Microsoft's C# conventions a bit (i.e. the classes should be separated out more) but I prefer this setup.
sieep··on Show HN: TCP chat server written in C# and .NET 9, used in the terminal
I highly recommend trying C# on Linux, it works fantastic. Rider on Linux works amazing as well so hats off to Jetbrains.
sieep··on Show HN: TCP chat server written in C# and .NET 9, used in the terminal
Admittedly I don't know a lot about networking or IRC clients, but in practice I believe so. The idea was to implement the simplest possible way for 2 people to communicate via TCP.
sieep··on Show HN: TCP chat server written in C# and .NET 9, used in the terminal
I used Rider's auto-complete for a lot of the code but it is handwritten.
sieep··on Claude Code On-the-Go
You can do that if you want. Ill refuse. Ill take a manual labor job doing basically anything else for 40 hours a week over what your describing.
sieep··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (Jan 2026)
I just launched the beta of my app that uses Elixir/Phoenix. Its a community driven aggregation of technology resources for Michigan, like companies in Michigan that hire tech talent, university programs, incubators in Michigan, etc. It also includes a newsletter thats already fully live and has over 10 subscribers. I'm gathering starting data and feedback now!
