shamiln··on I don’t believe in sprints
Seems like the author is ranting hot air.

I’ve worked in sprints. I’ve been a facilitator and an IC and now manager (aside from sprints).

A bad team won’t improve with sprints.

Similarly a good team might not always benefit from sprints.

Almost every team I’ve worked with has improved with iterations and interactions.

The best team I’ve worked with used sprints and communicated with stakeholders well… which in turn spoke true to the agile manifesto.

shamiln··on I don’t believe in sprints
It doesn’t.
shamiln··on Is NoOps the End of DevOps?
Sure, go ask a team to resolve their production issues without any help.

NoOps doesn't make sense, there's always operational toil, and using technologies such as FaaS doesn't resolve that, at all.

shamiln··on Crossrail Project Update
I love the Elizabeth line!

Unfortunately, I live on the central line, and pre-covid, it used to take about 4-8 trains passing through the station before I would consider getting on.. to only be squeezed.

shamiln··on OneDev – A Lightweight Gitlab Alternative
there's only 1 author
shamiln··on Gitea 1.17.0 is released – includes package registry support
I use it, works well and performs well. It’s pretty good compared to GitLab, but misses some features such as registries.
shamiln··on Ask HN: Is on-premise software still a thing?
I'm building my product to be cloud native, but that's all - the product is designed not to be a SaaS product, but to operate within private clusters.
shamiln··on Ask HN: Is VSCode becoming too complex after each update?
Fleet is ok, it can’t compete on price or extensibility
shamiln··on Supreme Court Overturns Roe vs. Wade
Then surely you support universal healthcare and right for that pregnancy to be terminated by cause if it harms another’s life.
shamiln··on GitHub actions is down
It looks like it's an artefact cache issue rather than a more widespread issue?
shamiln··on Citigroup plans to hire 4k tech staff
I guess I'm severely underpaid then....
shamiln··on Citigroup plans to hire 4k tech staff
I’d posit that most VPs and some EDs at JPM aren’t on that salary.

Looking at the data, that salary is a massive outlier, and I know SVP salaries at Citi aren’t at 190 for technologists.

shamiln··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2022)
I’d love to work on this, sounds actually interesting.. sadly can’t commit to moving :(
shamiln··on Tell HN: Turned 44 today and I'm lost
Happy Birthday to both of us :)
shamiln··on An Open Letter from the CEO of Puppet: Puppet and Perforce
Ugh Perforce...
shamiln··on WWDC22
I was at the last WWDC in person in 2019, and well, the collective gasp at the price of the Pro Display XDR stand was quite a participation!
shamiln··on AWS Graviton vs. M1 vs. M1 Pro Node.js Benchmarks
Windows ARM though?
shamiln··on Microsoft says Win11 Explorer ads were ‘not intended to be published externally’
Did they actually say that?
shamiln··on Official Response: Request to Freeze Canadian Edge Users’ Accounts
Do explain
shamiln··on Cloudflare Considered Harmful (2019)
So far, I remain unconvinced.

> As things stand, the extent of the number of websites which have come to use Cloudflare, multiplied by its issues, poses a hazard to the state of the web.

The same argument can be applied to other cloud providers.

shamiln··on Grafana Incident: Smart incident management for your teams
Seems like the industry is headed in that direction.
shamiln··on Atlassian drops native Jira app for macOS, upsetting users
Sadly not, but I'm building one for myself at least because I don't want it in the cloud.
shamiln··on This career feels like a few key hours with year-long cool-down periods
I am interviewing for a Staff Software Engineer, SRE role and I expect leetcode to come up as part of the interviewing process.
