sh4rks··on Ask HN: With recent layoffs, how would you advise new grads entering the market?
Great advice. The only thing that's missing is to grind leetcode as hard as you can. As much as HN and Reddit hates leetcode, most companies still use it in some form. Getting good at leetcode-style questions will allow you to get through the first few interview stages more consistently. Then, in the later interview stages, you can show off your personal projects and open source contributions.

sh4rks··on Ask HN: How much does it cost to run Hacker News?
How does one find the best tools for the job? I want to build something that is performant and maintainable, but I also don't want an over-engineered mess.

In my opinion, games are the most fun when you're playing against someone slightly higher than your skill level.
sh4rks··on Show HN: GPT-3 Powered Shell
What would be cool is if you could get GPT to break the command up into its components and then explain what each component does and how it works.
sh4rks··on I still use Flash
This was a great read. I distinctly remember playing Hapland as a kid. Armour games or Crazymonkeygames, can't remember which one it was. So this was a great nostalgia trip.

There was no need for that second comment
sh4rks··on Chess Investigation Finds U.S. Grandmaster ‘Likely Cheated’ More Than 100 Times
The delay would have to be a lot longer than 5 minutes. It's not uncommon for players to take 30+ mins on a single move in OTB chess.

Also, if your cheating device allows you to somehow input chess positions, then you wouldn't even require an external signal. Though it would be extremely impressive if somebody could pull that off.

Or worse, Quora "answers"
sh4rks··on Meta announces hiring freeze, warns employees of restructuring
It doesn't matter. At the end of the day, all leetcode "style" questions fall into a particular bucket. Two pointers, graphs, etc. It's not like the company is innovating new types of problems. It's just the same problem reworded.
