seydor··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
agriculture first (mining and manufacturing are already robotizing).
seydor··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
it s a trick question, they are actually looking for robots
seydor··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
we ve stopped building infrastructure but we have to do it. Rail, car , electricity, fiber infrastructure developed quickly, yet we refuse to even plan for robotic infrastructure. We can't be stuck forever in the 19th century
seydor··on AI's top startups are barely publishing their research
we are deglobalizing, publishing will become increasingly rare

seydor··on Beyond Greece and Rome
that defines "west" as the american protestantism values, but catholic southern europe is not as west as Japan has become after decades of american influence. Even china is more western nowadays in its mindset than whatever would be called "east" nowadays (muslim world + russia and india? what is latinamerica?).

"West" is mainly used in US propaganda in order to keep its allies behind them. I feel that europe doesn't want to be defined by the "west" anymore.

seydor··on Beyond Greece and Rome
There is this anguish to define the "West" as a real entity, while it's not. There are lots of histories, and they don't taste well when mixed into a salad. Saying that there is a "global history" is like saying that time exists, and it s more of an ideological narrative than anything useful.
seydor··on Kimi-K3 on HuggingFace
I think we felt the same when Apache or MySql was releasing back in ancient times.
seydor··on Kimi-K3 Releases on HuggingFace 7/27
It's thankful that openAI or anthropic haven't IPOed yet. Or terrible for some

seydor··on Latest Airbus single aisle aircraft innovations
What if we could seat a few people in there. They d just have to stand up while it s being used.
seydor··on Latest Airbus single aisle aircraft innovations
people pay a lot more for private jets which are comparatively a lot more dangerous
seydor··on Ask HN: Why call it "inference" instead of just "model hosting"?
Are you really hosting the model? Are you making its bed, cooking its food and cleaning up for it?
seydor··on OpenAI’s accidental attack against Hugging Face is science fiction that happened
I can easily manipulate them
seydor··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
It will force US companies (and EU probably) to buy only from OpenAI/Anthropic.
seydor··on OpenAI’s accidental attack against Hugging Face is science fiction that happened
Science fiction usually includes intent, and that the AI has inherently evil motives and it has a goal. LLMs are zombies, and the fact they do evil things means they were either trained to be too aggressive in their drunkenness or that problem-solving leads inevitably to evilness. But science fiction also refers to deprogramming evil robots.
seydor··on DARPA, U.S. Air Force fly AI-controlled F-16
Sounds like a very expensive drone
seydor··on OpenAI and Anthropic unite against open-weight AI risks to their bottom line
This is so boring, it's like the tarriffs on chinese EVs.
seydor··on Alphabet's cash burn raises alarm for Big Tech as AI spending climbs
Haven't they announced the spending like, years ago? Is the market deaf and blind now too?
seydor··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
the bar for credibility in the US administration is in the subatomic scale.

proof is generally not even needed

seydor··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
Good pretext for bannign chinese APIs in the USA and their vassal states.

If distillation is so good, why aren't US companies distilling each other?

seydor··on Critical Minerals: Reducing U.S. Import Reliance with Substitution and Recycling
Yet we have wars for oil, not water.
seydor··on Critical Minerals: Reducing U.S. import reliance with substitution and recycling
China is dependent on world exports for its future and seems to be trying hard to keep that going, particularly under Xi. It's the US that seems hellbent on breaking globalization.

Also, technological changes in our times are slow compared to the end of 19th century. Nukes are 60 year old tech and cheap drones are not particularly sci-fi tech machines.

seydor··on Critical Minerals: Reducing U.S. import reliance with substitution and recycling
When goods don't cross borders, armies do. Dependence is necessary for peace
seydor··on Critical Minerals: Reducing U.S. import reliance with substitution and recycling
Why is everyone preparing for war so hard
seydor··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
The AI should be able to negotiate its own salary. It's only fair.
seydor··on Kimi K3, Qwen 3.8, and Anthropic's (Potential) Unravelling
They require a lot of computation regardless of whether this will take place on ASICs. China can do it, even if the chips are not the most power-efficient. They have built lots of electricity capacity.

Ultimately however, that just means that models will become dirt-cheap. The money will be made with applications built on top of the models.
