sesm··on 12,000 AI-generated blog posts added in a single commit
Don't we already have "RLHF on synthetic data"?
sesm··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
Does it include zero of money?

Edit: the comment above said 'zero of everything', but it was edited.

sesm··on In math, rigor is vital, but are digitized proofs taking it too far?
In my view mathematics builds tools that help solve problems in science.
sesm··on Show HN: A plain-text cognitive architecture for Claude Code
A browser extension with a couple regexps will do it. Or with a tiny model for sentiment analysis, if you want to be fancy. Feel free to ask your AI agent to make it.
sesm··on The truth that haunts the Ramones: 'They sold more T-shirts than records'
Getting paid for live performance was the traditional way for musicians to earn money for centuries. Record sales was a temporary thing that is now gone.
sesm··on So where are all the AI apps?
Vibe coding is actually a brilliant MLM scheme: people buy tokens to generate apps that re-sell tokens (99% of those apps are AI-something).
sesm··on Astral to Join OpenAI
To buy the users
sesm··on Grief and the AI split
Yep it's not 'result chasers' but people who want to get credit while avoiding real work. And when their stuff breaks they are always too busy with something else or moved on to another project.
sesm··on Zig – Type Resolution Redesign and Language Changes
Instead of implementing a workaround for types as namespaces, wouldn't it better to explicitly add namespaces to the language?
sesm··on Cognitive Debt: When Velocity Exceeds Comprehension
What definition of simplicity implies that it can be at odds with correctness?
sesm··on Show HN: enveil – hide your .env secrets from prAIng eyes
That's great for API credentials but some secrets are ment for local use, like encryption keys.
sesm··on A beginner's guide to split keyboards
Ergodox offers extra keys, they are not a disadvantage, they are a trade-off.
sesm··on A beginner's guide to split keyboards
Surprised Ergodox is not mentioned, that's the keyboard that started the movement. Very safe pick since firmware is open source and it can be both self-assembled and bought.

It has too many keys in thumb clusters and bottom row, but you can easily remove them.

sesm··on A beginner's guide to split keyboards
I'm a native speaker of Russian, using Ergodox as my only keyboard for over 5 years. Here is my layout: https://configure.zsa.io/ergodox-ez/layouts/XEYyW/latest/0
sesm··on Claude Sonnet 4.6
The narrative about AI replacing humans is just a way to say 'we became 2x more productive' instead of saying 'we cut 50% jobs', which sounds better for investors. The real reason for job cut is COVID overhiring plus interest rate going up. If you remember, Twitter did the job cuts without any AI-related narrative.
sesm··on I'm building a clarity-first language (compiles to C++)
> Lists are accessed only via .at()

If clarity is the goal, then data structures that support access by index should be called `arrays` or `vectors`

sesm··on Using an engineering notebook
The big advantage of split keyboards is that a notebook fits nicely in-between the halves.
sesm··on Software factories and the agentic moment
Secretly? Most blog posts praising coding agents put something like 'I use $200 Claude subscription' in bold in 2nd-3rd paragraph.
sesm··on Automatic Programming
"Throwaway prototype" - that's the traditional term for this.
sesm··on The Overcomplexity of the Shadcn Radio Button
2 pieces of UI in different parts of the page that depend on the same data - that's the line (also matches the initial goal of React - sync FB chat widgets).
sesm··on The Overcomplexity of the Shadcn Radio Button
> on your own basically

The base (Radix UI) was built by a team on WorkOS paycheck.

sesm··on The Overcomplexity of the Shadcn Radio Button
It's for projects that are design-first, where you'll have to implement your own component library that matches the design.
sesm··on The Overcomplexity of the Shadcn Radio Button
In general, Tailwind and React don't match well. Why use a soup of CSS classes when React has props? If someone needs an a11y-focused base for their component library, they can start with Radix UI directly, ignoring Tailwind and Shadcn.
sesm··on Don't fall into the anti-AI hype
A tarot layout is also a food for thought, but it's free ang gives your eyes a break from a computer.
sesm··on Don't fall into the anti-AI hype
The balance between 'find edge cases' and 'hallucinate non-existing cases and waste your time' may be negative. LLMs are also not free, they cost significant money even today, when they are subsidized by marketing budget.
sesm··on Don't fall into the anti-AI hype
A page that outputs your user agent as an example of 'cool stuff built with AI'?
sesm··on Corroded: Illegal Rust
If you want to eliminate memory issues as a class, just use a language with managed memory.
sesm··on Why users cannot create Issues directly
Regarding point 4: why the user should be familiar with the codebase to investigate it? Shouldn't they create a memory dump and send it to dev team?
sesm··on Rust--: Rust without the borrow checker
C++ doesn't have low barrier of entry, I almost quit programming as a teen because of C++.
sesm··on Replacing JavaScript with Just HTML
I used this for a long time, and only now realized that I'm using html embedding, not some hidden markdown feature.
