sebazzz··on ChatGPT Launches 'Company Knowledge'
This feature is actually useful and M365 Copilot Enterprise already has this for a while. It is actually quite useful because it basically has access to all public (“public” as in: accessible to any employee) information in a company - on Sharepoint - plus your own mailbox. It helps finding information I otherwise couldn’t have found easily with the company-wide search functionality.

sebazzz··on Windows 11 25H2 October Update Bug Renders Recovery Environment Unusable
Microsoft has been offshoring a lot. QA and implementation. If not given the proper attention, those overworked people can't deliver.
sebazzz··on ASP.NET Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability
Those outside your bubble.
sebazzz··on HTTP3 Explained
I also have em-dashes in memory.
sebazzz··on MAML – A new configuration language
JSON5 is what that is called and it already has wide support.
sebazzz··on Windows Subsystem for FreeBSD
Is FreeBSD used a lot?
sebazzz··on Clavier: An FPGA-based mechanical keyboard with USB hub and comms interfaces
Basically, only variable adapable designs are suited for OpenSCAD - because those can be trivially regenerated in web applications.
sebazzz··on Why Developer Experience Is More Than Just Better Tooling
Switching from Jenkins (supposedly self-hosted) to Github Actions (cloud hosted runners) is faster? Impossible, any self hosted runner is bound to be faster than any standard-size Github Actions runner.
sebazzz··on Optimizing a 6502 image decoder – part II: assembly
The moire confuses my Samsung 49" ultrawide monitor. The brightness drops significantly when the dithered image is in my viewport.
sebazzz··on The LLM Lobotomy?
I agree. I asked it for some help refactoring a database and some of the SQL is quite broken. It also doesn't help that their streaming code is broken so LLM responses sometimes end up broken in the web browser (both Firefox and Edge so it is not a browser issue), so you need to refresh after a response to make sure the LLMs response was not an indication of a drunk LLM.
sebazzz··on SQL performance improvements: finding the right queries to fix
If you misuse a database you will have a lot more complex SELECTs than UPDATEs perhaps ;-)
sebazzz··on Tips for installing Windows 98 in QEMU/UTM
That suggests also that QEmu isn’t the right software when fiddling with raw x86 assembly to write an OS (qemu is the recommendation of oswiki though).

So what is? One would need software supporting debugging. VirtualBox supports that I think, but I don’t know if that works if it runs on top of Hyper-V - which is enabled by default in Windows due to some security features (and I don’t want to disable that anyway).

sebazzz··on Intermittent fasting strategies and their effects on body weight
> For me, the most important for me is to save the biggest meal for late in the day.

Wouldn't the big meal be stored as fat during sleeping?

sebazzz··on GPT-5 leaked system prompt?
I suppose with an LLM you could never know if it is hallucinating a supposed system prompt.
sebazzz··on Electric bikes might just be the healthiest thing to ever happen to teenagers
> Before the "fat bike" phenomena the same demographic used to ride around in "snorfiets" scooters which were theoretically limited to 25 km/h, but pretty much everyone modified for speeds of up to 50 km/h.

The difference is, of course, that a snorfiets/bromfiets requires a driving license (AB) and a fatbike does not, nor does it have any age restriction. A classic case of the legislator not keeping up.

sebazzz··on Lasagna Battery Cell
So you need to regularly take your pipes apart?
sebazzz··on Tell HN: uBlock Origin on Chrome is finally gone
I really am curious if that will hold up once bigger refactorings make the necessary internal APIs for ManifestV2 unavailable. Then Brave needs to maintain those APIs themselves, and every time downporting changes from the open source base becomes harder and thus more expensive in time and money.
sebazzz··on '123456' password exposed chats for 64M McDonald's job applicants
ULID are not necessarily sortable, just UUIDs consensed in a shorter string by using more characters than 0-9A-F
sebazzz··on Belkin ending support for older Wemo products
Unfortunately “local push/access” is not a guarantee. When Awair decided to end support for their older devices they decided to also shutdown the local device API.
sebazzz··on US court strikes down 'click-to-cancel' rule designed to make unsubscribing easy
This works through X-List-Unsubscribe or similar headers. Companies making unsubscribing difficult will definitely not add or keep such header on their email messages now.
sebazzz··on HDMI 2.2 will support 16K video at 60Hz
It would probably also be a noisy connector.
sebazzz··on Build an iOS app on Linux or Windows
Mac OS Server has been dead for a very long time.
sebazzz··on HR is not your friend
I wonder how much is true for European employees, which enjoy much stronger worker protection.

sebazzz··on Court denies Apple appeal in Epic Games case, keeping App Store changes in place
> If only the EU would do the same and clamp down on Apple for their flagrant violation of the spirit of the DSA.

That is difficult if facing retaliation from the unstable US leadership.

sebazzz··on Microsoft's ICC blockade: digital dependence comes at a cost
If this isn't enough to cause a shock in European companies and governments, I don't know what would.
sebazzz··on Fedora Linux is now an official WSL distro
I bet some LLM scraper goes nuts right now.

> legacy software, so the need for something like K8S never really goes away

TIL software running in Docker containers is legacy.

What cloud kool-aid are you drinking?
