sebastianconcpt··on Writing fingerprint analysis of responses reveals Kimi's similarity to Claude
Honest take: different surface, same category.
sebastianconcpt··on If You Build It, They Will Come
Reminds me of 2013 when I organized a TEDx, gosh so much work for absolute zero return. Also risk, what was I thinking?
sebastianconcpt··on First atmosphere found on Earth-like planet in habitable zone of distant star
Claude: give me all the schematics and operations manual of a production grade starship that can travel faster than light. Make no mistekaes.
sebastianconcpt··on Are we offloading too much of our thinking to AI?
Is a good thing depending on which ones. And our taste on what to specialize our judgment into varies a lot. One thing I do use as criteria to detect it can be a problem is in lack of understanding and lack of control of the layers that are part of verifications and diagnosing power.
sebastianconcpt··on European "age verification" "app" forcing everyone to use Android or iOS
The issue is not the issue, the issue is what their "solution" enables for expanding the surface that governments have for controlling details of how you live your life in the future once accepted.
sebastianconcpt··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
You're right, I meant the Commissioners which are the ones essentially designing how to legislate, which is the traditional name for "engineer society behavior"
sebastianconcpt··on AI-generated videos to maximally drive a target brain region
I share your concern but the generalization is improper (that as solution would be infinitely far worst than the problem)
sebastianconcpt··on Show HN: Getting GLM 5.2 running on my slow computer
This is the way.
sebastianconcpt··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
Adding the reminder that these votes and majority rejecting are of unelected bureaucrats, so the way that it was framed was approved from above while making practically impossible to reject but still theoretically possible so people are forced to swallow it.

Soviet Union 2.0

sebastianconcpt··on Automating AI Away
Yeah, I realized this around may 2024 and started to rail models in deterministic workflows and tooling. LLMs are the new CPU.
sebastianconcpt··on Yes, AI Will Take Your Job
The article is a piece of revolutionary rant.

> Capitalism is unnatural, and selects for unnatural things.

Wrong. Even plants have a conspicuous signaling economy to get their way to selection.

sebastianconcpt··on 98% Isn't Much
That framing is setting the question so you immediately are forced to compare pears to apples.

Of course 98% of sterilization is not enough for surgery or for precision in calculating your account balance but the category of landing page conversion a 98% would be astronomically high.

sebastianconcpt··on Small Penis Rule
Another day in Everything is About Mate Suppression
sebastianconcpt··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
You are mixing legalism with reality. All babies (and more) are accountable to physics.
sebastianconcpt··on Half-Baked Product
I was waiting for the plot twist and it didn't come, so its genre is: horror.
sebastianconcpt··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
I find your suggestion to equate a baby to AI brutally uncanny
sebastianconcpt··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
The problem is that you have creations that aren't really obvious. Have you seen that rocket engine with a crazy laborious design made with an AI?
sebastianconcpt··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
Isn't patenting an action to protect a benefit (whichever patent or benefit would be)?
sebastianconcpt··on AI can't be listed as inventor on patent applications, Japan's top court rules
Sanity! No AI has accountability so also should not own any benefits (not only patent but anything beneficial). Violate that and you created a blackhole of value creation.

sebastianconcpt··on European digital ID wallets are a gift to Google and Apple
And we're heading to giving better quality feedback loops to AI models than people. Put this together with ignorance being the mother of evil and...

How good this can become?

sebastianconcpt··on Professor denounces mass AI fraud on an exam at Brown
Not sure if I'm alone in the feeling that we are going to desire AI more than like it.
sebastianconcpt··on The cost YAGNI was never about
Seeing running software as an asset is the right approach.

But the costs of executing and even re-doing things went significantly down.

The costs that didn't went down are the ones of breaking the chain of trust to a predictable outcome. A specific version of some running software accumulated trust. If you rewrite it from scratch that capital is reset on release.

sebastianconcpt··on Prefer duplication over the wrong abstraction (2016)
Oh the self-contradiction here...

Generalizing this in the abstract is a wrong abstraction.

sebastianconcpt··on Rio de Janeiro's "homegrown" LLM appears to be a merge of an existing model
Politicians don't come from outer space, they emerge locally and were raised swimming in an imaginary that has normalized the morals that eventually end up expressed at the top.
sebastianconcpt··on AI coding at home without going broke
Pretty happy with oMLX running Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-8bit
sebastianconcpt··on Kimi K2.7-Code: open-source coding model with better token efficiency
Better than Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-8bit ?

When I tried glm found it way way slower (omlx as runtime)

sebastianconcpt··on Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?
I've made a harness to discipline it and get consistent output regardless of model. Using it daily. Is the opposite of vibe coding, it delivers great planed code with my engineering taste. I had it open sourced for a while then I've closed it. Just a month or two after closing it, I read an article about this "clean room" thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean-room_design

sebastianconcpt··on I spent 50 hours drawing a line graph
My dad had that lettering kit! Even look like exactly that model and typography.
