scrame··on The cult of vibe coding is dogfooding run amok
This is the guy that created bittorrent, btw. I know that was a long time ago, but he's not just some random blogger.
scrame··on GPT‑5.3 Instant
What's the point in learning to work with these models when a new one comes out every 2 weeks?
scrame··on Coding agents have replaced every framework I used
quite a bit of software you would need to understand the assembly. not everything is web-services.
scrame··on Dell admits consumers don't care about AI PCs
Assuming you can buy GPU's at a reasonable price.
scrame··on The Jeff Dean Facts
My further comment will be buried, but its a rip on Chuck Norris facts, and was pretty ... whatever ... "geek culture". That was only proved by Chuck Norris' endorsement of Mike Huckabee back in 2007: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--EGyU57efY
scrame··on The Jeff Dean Facts
I get jeff dean is a great engineer and probably had nothing to do with this, but I always thought this "googly" memeing of chuck norris was so lame.

I mean, chuck norris even did it to endorse mike huckabee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--EGyU57efY

scrame··on The creator of Claude Code's Claude setup
so... what's he actually doing with 10 terminals of claude code?
scrame··on Replacing JavaScript with Just HTML
yes, because most everyone dreads working with javascript, which is why there is so much tech built around not dealing with it.
scrame··on Replacing JavaScript with Just HTML
this article is quite good. Thanks!
scrame··on Replacing JavaScript with Just HTML
thanks. I was honestly asking, because I'm trying to catch up on CSS progress and am kind of surprised at stuff it can do now.
scrame··on IPv6 just turned 30 and still hasn't taken over the world
and it never will, because IPv4 has become a defacto reputation system for the exact same reason that IPv6 was created: a limited supply. It wouldn't surprise me to see the continued balkanization of the internet that there is a particular underclass of exclusively IPv6 traffic, but its not going to take over everything because once decentralized systems are now in the hands of a few decisionmakers in the case of, say, email.
scrame··on Replacing JavaScript with Just HTML
like what?

Ringing endorsement.

scrame··on Show HN: Witr – Explain why a process is running on your Linux system
I left a different comment, but I think this is good. You're example is 3306 and has a useful breakdown. Not everyone has that port memorized by trauma, and not every mysql instance uses that port.

New tools are always welcome, and having a purpose to explain a purpose seems like a good pitch.

scrame··on Show HN: Witr – Explain why a process is running on your Linux system
This is great. One of those things that just formats and does all the little niggling things you have to do sometimes. I like that it is simple, and doesn't (thank god) need npm or some other package manager.

to quote the top comment: just show a screenshot of its results, if its useful its fine, being fast is just gravy.

scrame··on Maybe the default settings are too high
Seriously, we're just posting self-help grifters now?
scrame··on Carrier Landing in Top Gun for the NES
if you rented it or borrowed from a friend it was very very unlikely you had the manual. I don't remember how I eventually figured it out, but it's the landing instructions that I think are misleading.
scrame··on Apple Maps claims it's 29,905 miles away
Look up "fractal dimensions".
scrame··on Java Hello World, LLVM Edition
people still use make for things. how many stand-alone utilities require npm?

i don't know graalvm, but I've used too much ant, buldr, gradle and maven. I'm not really convinced Graal VM would make anything better just because you are more familiar with it.

The author even says to just use what you like because that part doesn't matter.

scrame··on Java Hello World, LLVM Edition
agreed. i get if you're great at cli usage or have your own scripts, but if you're publishing for general use, it should be long form. that includes even utility scripts for a small team.

also, putting it out long-form you might catch some things you do out of habit, rather than what's necessary for the job.

scrame··on Honda: 2 years of ml vs 1 month of prompting - heres what we learned
> an overwhelming faction of AI projects fail.

An overwhelming amount of software projects fail, AI just helps them get there faster.

scrame··on Show HN: Venturu – Zillow for the market of local businesses
I'm getting nothing for seattle or king county except asking me for my email address and a captcha. i turned off ad blocking, it flashed something for like 2million and then went back to the "nothing available".
scrame··on JVM exceptions are weird: a decompiler perspective
this broke my head. I think I haven't touched Java in a while and kept thinking continue should be in a case/switch so ittook a minute to back out of that alleyway before I even got what was wrong with this.
scrame··on Svelte’s characteristics that likely contribute most to improved performance
want the whole point of Javascript to use client side manipulation? Is it's come back to SSR, then do we need all the JS baggage?
scrame··on Go ahead, write the “stupid” code
vonnegut said:

"Don't put one foot in your job and the other in your dream, Ed. Go ahead and quit, or resign yourself to this life. It's just too much of a temptation for fate to split you right up the middle before you've made up your mind which way to go".

scrame··on Vibe coding has turned senior devs into 'AI babysitters'
were they before?
scrame··on The key to getting MVC correct is understanding what models are
yeah, they say in the introduction even that it is to give a language to common patterns that emerge in C++ style OOP. It gives examples of what it might look like, but isn't an instruction manual on what to do. Its to give a common language "this is a gateway" as opposed to "this is where stuff goes in", or "front-door" or whatever tribal names / descriptions people come up with.
scrame··on Don't just check errors, handle them gracefully (2016)
this completely happened to me, but with a comment:

// this never happens

... guess what happened?

/happenings

scrame··on More people are getting tattoos removed
That's what happened with Rampart: young gang members didn't get tattoos so they could join their neighborhood police and take out other gangs.
scrame··on Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch
yeah and the DS had a GBA cartridge slot.
