it looks like someone already pointed it out, but you should def talk to the archive team on irc http://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=IRC_Channel

They helped me out with an idea I had a while back on shortened urls. The same thing needs to happen with shortened urls cause once that shortened url service goes down, all the links are lost...

that all depends on your budget

ya doesnt seem like the best idea to keep it up...

how bout using proxies?

sorry if i am repeating, but

I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but I think the "Chipper now on Mobile" and "Chipper now on Gtalk" is a great feature but I only realized what it did after I clicked on it. You should make the user understand that now "you can submit expenses to your mychipper account with Gtalk and Mobile SMS". Maybe look at how ping.fm organizes and makes the user understand this type of functionality.

I like the idea of creating a social aspect to it. Dont throw it their face, but give them an option to "share" their data and allow them to compare it to other mychipper users.

But I think you've got a dead simple app and good market to go after.

Yes, what would be your suggestion for finding startups to work for in LA?

I like your idea, but whats the point of knowing James reads HN and is close to me if I cant contact him? Are you integrating a messenger or something? What do you see a loyal user doing on the site?

are you talking about ones through meetup.com or events like the ones hosted through mixergy.com?

ya and there arent a lot of hands on people here...especially where I live...britney spears just moved in, and we got the kardashians and denise richards reality shows...

Thanks for the suggestions. "a failed startup is the best way to build your network." Love it

I was thinking like a trade school. But thanks for the suggestions

thanks everyone for the points, hopefully it will help it get noticed

all the good free usenet access was gone a long time ago.

easynews is what I have used for a great connection (I think because their servers are only 500 miles from me)
