But I don't want others to be easily able to either.
In your scenario, yes, you are guilty as well. But so is the one that actually did the deed, i.e. Grok in this case.
You're arguing my point for me. Just because you do something for someone else doesn't mean you're absolved of responsibility.
You can't build a tool with a "create child porn" button and then expect not to get into trouble for helping people make child porn.
The crime is creating a system that lets schoolboys create fake nudes of other minors.
You don't just get to build a CSAM-generator and then be like "well I never intended for it to be used...".
The humans running a company are liable for the product that their company builds, easy as that.
rms is the Marx of the 20th Century. GPL is freedom from corporate oppression.
By cutting out the memorization of Hanzi, I am able to accelerate my actual goal of having conversations with people.
In Silicon Valley speak, I think the term would be "ruthless prioritization" .
I don't bother with the Hanzi past being able to recognize them. I want to be able to talk to people and, if I have to, use a pinyin keyboard to write basic sentences.
So only 1 & 4 are really relevant, 2 is what Anki is designed to do.
Is this satirizing the bootlicking often found in Silicon Valley or is it the bootlicking often found in Silicon Valley?
Had the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe succeeded, I would agree with your point.
Since it hasn't, it's all just a bunch of treaties between countries. Yes, there is European politican entities. But they all just exist by the power of the member states instituting them. They are not (yet?) established as powers in their own right.
The sovereignty of the EU is the sum of the sovereignty of its member states.
That's precisely what the border carbon tax is about. They have to now, or their products will be noncompetitive in the worlds largest market.
Renewables are the future and the EU is amongst the leaders. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jan/22/wind-and...
Make of that what you will. Power isn't always tanks and soldiers. Sometimes its bureaucracy and contracts.
Nah, that's the "I was raised in Austria and all my history classes where about driving that point home" take.
How did the Nazis ever come to power, one asks? Why didn't anybody stop them? It's because everybody stayed silent until it was too late.
Screw polite meekness. You're either against what's happening or you're a collaborator. It takes people actively speaking out to show others they aren't alone and that not everyone is okay with what is happening.
My only hope is that one day everyone who participated or collaborated will come to regret their heinous acts.
To be silent in the face of oppression isn't neutrality. It's implicitly siding with the oppressor.
