saran945··on Show HN: I made a tool to receive alerts when answers change
Typically users prefer to have their Queries private, may be I should add public/private flag, and make all public alerts as searchable/free to follow. Thank you for suggestion.

To clarify, my app is the equivalent of SearchGPT + web alerts, using in-app notifications rather than email alerts.

saran945··on AutoDev: Automated AI-driven development by Microsoft
If LLM/Agents contribute to software development, how does the role of software engineers evolve? SE should focus on : - System design - Integrations - Project management etc

or the job will disappear in 10 years ?

saran945··on Ask HN: Suggest good books on bootstrapping a startup
Thanks for sharing the book link, I went through table of content. I am looking for bootstrapping a startup with few (5 to 10) customers. which hacks typically work to acquire initial customers, how to find them for an idea that I have, or The problem I found is faced by many other people ? if so how to find and engage them to provide solution. what type of users usually come forward to give feedbacks. how to attract them ? where are they ? how they are searching a solution to their problem ? I need books that gives me a framework and list of hacks to solves this problem.

Thank you. great resources.

Talking with customers is great start - partly an art and science. Unfortunately I did it wrong. In 2012, I had an idea and found two initial customers after calling 40+. talked with these two continuously till the product matures. They are super supportive, they gave all problem they face, exited to use the product as well. gave us good feedbacks and improvements, After 3 months of development, we showed a demo to other customers, very few shown interest. During our post analysis, we came to known that, these two customers have built a project for them. They've completely taken us away from a product to project. customization for few customers is also a bad thing to do. (they have paid me, what I need, but still I missed the great niche product, failed to scale to few thousand userbase with only common features). I should have talked and engaged with more customers and built only core features.

That's a good idea. what I've learnt was startup failures has lot in common, similarly success is not an anomaly, it should has its own pattern. Most mistakes are already someone else mistake, I believe that reading some books will help to avoid 80% of the mistakes. the acquired knowledge will store a mental model within me. otherwise I need a lot of luck.

Thank you.

Yesterday I bought this book :)

Its totally waste of time to build and learn the hard way.

I am going to buy and read as many books as possible for next few months.

saran945··on Ask HN: What life means to you?
Life means searching :)
saran945··on Ask HN: Will GPT-3 bring a worthy competitor to Google search?
GPT can be used to build auto suggestion to search engine. scalable and intelligent crawling, indexing, serving, re-ranking parts are still needs to be developed. IMO, success of search engine business is not merely a technical advancements.
saran945··on Ask HN: What are modern web-search engines missing?
1) API (to build search agents, complete tasks etc) 2) domain specific search 3) string match (I don't like semantic matching) 4) structured result with Facets
saran945··on Ask HN: No option to delete my account at HN?
not really, still it exists.
saran945··on Ask HN: No option to delete my account at HN?
should be attributed as a "deleted user".
saran945··on Google – My Activity
search history is useful. google should provide me "query suggestion" based on my social circle.

without collecting user data, google,/FB etc can't exist, they can't improve their services. As a user, I don't care much on the data they collect, as long as they follow law system in the country they operate. if these huge companies went beyond the control of the governments, then only the real problem starts.

saran945··on [dead]
its happening because of no fear - the law system, law is good, but the people who in charge from judges, advocates, police, politicians all are corrupted. the way it has been implemented, practices is highly questionable. many rapes are not even recorded. you may also note the scale in which the country operates - 1.3 billion people, everything should be done for such a scale. once it has become a developed nation, you may expect some betterment.
saran945··on Ask HN: How to Bootstrap a Startup Effectively?
bootstrap a startup is an art. no decision is final, many of your decisions would become invalid in days.

if the product is for general public then 1) can be started as a side project 2) Friends and family may use first 3) Experiment the idea with 1000 lines or less code. 4) Don't prefect the idea, let it evolve 5) Don't go for startup events, mentors, investment etc 6) No co-founders until you get n number of users 7) Where can you get early users ? 8) do you use the product yourself ? 9) simplicity of the product is the key 10) no one is waiting, no one is caring your idea until it gets some traction. the list goes on..

many ideas i stopped in the middle, because myself not interested to continue. because ideas seems to good in one time, later it is boring to do.

Time kills everything, your stress and pressure. think what way you can kill few weeks of your time. you may try things like - give visibility to your employees, spend your time with them and be with positive people or loved ones. hope this helps.
