sangeeth96··on A public letter to CloudFlare to fix their snoopy vendor
Oh but they are. They chose Airtel in their locations. I'm using BSNL as my ISP but my request goes to one of these locations that seems to be using Airtel and I get the same DoT block message.
sangeeth96··on Skillsoft Buys Codecademy for $525M
Thanks a lot and congrats to you and the team for this big milestone! I accelerated my webdev journey via Codecademy, even learned Python I believe. It's a wonderful platform that I still recommend to folks who come to me for advise.

StackOverflow is also down for me.

sangeeth96··on Xiaomi Releases Quadruped CyberDog
Here's a clip from the demo event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5o0TevLfxY

Looks and works pretty much like a Boston Dynamics Spot.

sangeeth96··on In JS functions, the ‘last’ return wins
OP didn't redefine `err`, just assigned a new value to the `err` variable that was available as `catch`'s parameter. Only the catch's error variable is scoped to the catch block. Any variable that's defined inside `catch` block using `var` is hoisted in the scope of the nearest function.

So, the `return e` in your example works since `e` was hoisted when you defined it using `var e = err`. If you tried `return err` instead, it'd result in a `ReferenceError`.

sangeeth96··on The Mandelbrot Monk (1999)
I was about to share this with my peers and end the day with a happy discovery but you had to ruin it, didn't ya?
sangeeth96··on EU accuses Apple of App Store antitrust violations after Spotify complaint
Besides the fact that they'd lose some money from the publishers, I will never understand any single argument from Apple about Spotify/Netflix and the rest being prevented from adding their own billing services, even if it means just letting the devs add a link to take them to a web page.

This, especially when Apple is trying to compete in the same field and has an unfair advantage on their own turf.

And yes, every other Store should do the same although from my personal experience and from that of the company I work for, we've only had issues dealing with Apple so far.

sangeeth96··on NSFW Server Designation
I know you said "can't" but just to confirm, is there no iOS API to get parental control info to block stuff like this? If not, I wonder why Apple doesn't provide that option.

o/w, "Safari supports parental controls" argument is BS.

sangeeth96··on Can’t use iCloud with “true” as the last name
Just wondering, is there a source listing good practices when it comes to implementing how one should sanitize real-world, subjective fields like human names, gender, race etc.? And other gotchas while implementing similar things?
sangeeth96··on We read the paper that forced Timnit Gebru out of Google
ICYDK, Nadella wrote a book on this and more: "Hit Refresh: The Quest to Rediscover Microsoft's Soul and Imagine a Better Future for Everyone". Really good read.
sangeeth96··on Daniel Stenberg's (badger) Twitter account seems to have been compromised
I doubt it. If it is enabled, I don't see how the hacker could've circumvented it. I wonder if @bagder uses 1Password or something similar for 2FAs. Would love to know once this gets resolved.
sangeeth96··on Daniel Stenberg's (badger) Twitter account seems to have been compromised
I've seen (and reported) a lot of such verified accounts that pose as Elon Musk. I don't get one thing—why can't Twitter set up a system that alerts to such changes to verified accounts? Can't they do a match on the name/profile image that could alert them of a possible hack? I'm stumped as to why they don't have such a system in place already considering not everyone has a verified account.
sangeeth96··on CERN Ends Trial of Facebook Workplace
What was your company using before Workplace?
sangeeth96··on CERN Ends Trial of Facebook Workplace
I'm unsure why any company would prefer Workplace over Slack/Teams etc. They have far more features and basically not scathed in privacy troubles as FB is in right now.
