s-phi-nl··on Ask PG: Could you please reduce multi-downvoting by same person?
The more direct response to the OP would be to limit downvoting based on whether a user has already downvoted another post of the same user already. But even that gets silly.
s-phi-nl··on Should You Hold "Office Hours"?
You mentioned in your essay on this that you wrote a sign-up program for it. Just out of curiosity, did you use Arc? If not, why not? If it was written in Arc, I'd guess that it was much simpler than HN in terms of complexity.

s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: How do you consume Hacker News?
You can do that using the best list at http://news.ycombinator.com/best. This is the best recent stories, for some value of recent (I believe 10 days).
s-phi-nl··on Linus Torvalds for Nobel Peace Prize?
The prize committee did declare that there was "no suitable living candidate" the year after Gandhi died.
s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: If C++ is so bad, what should game developers use?
I am under the impression that Lua is widely used for video games.
s-phi-nl··on A Theory on Hacker News
I do just the opposite of this: I click links from the bottom up on the front page, and often only look at the comments.

s-phi-nl··on Steve Yegge: Lisp is not an acceptable Lisp. (2006)
Might you be thinking of Ruby x Agile? http://www.infoq.com/news/2007/06/ruby-x-agile
s-phi-nl··on 10 Downing Street: Treatment of Alan Turing was "appalling"
How is this any more appropriate for Hacker News than President Obama's speech to schoolchildren (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=810399)? It seems to me that both are a national leader saying basically common things.
s-phi-nl··on A design pattern is an artifact of a missing feature in your chosen language
Defining abstractions is a form of optimization: it is the optimization of code readability. "Never optimize without profiling." "Premature optimization is the root of all evil."
s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: Steal my Ideas (or help me)
This reminds me of rush tickets http://www.kimmelcenter.org/planning/tickets.php
s-phi-nl··on Hacker News full of Erlang articles
Not again...
s-phi-nl··on Stanford, Duke, Rice, … and Gates?
That's who decides in home-schooling, and it's not limited to "tracks".
s-phi-nl··on Visualizing Sorting Algorithms Statically
The second of those links was where I first heard of the OP.

Unfortunately, I think I was unable to find the first of those links, so I re-submitted the website.

Thanks for the comment.

s-phi-nl··on Python Library for Google Sets
I am not a lawyer, nor have I ever published code under any license, but I believe that, to let anyone do whatever they like with your code, you say that it is in the public domain.
s-phi-nl··on R.I.P. Les Paul
If men lived forever, earth would be hell.
s-phi-nl··on Someday, A Tiny Subway Will Deliver Your Groceries
This one of the funniest things I've read all week!
s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: Are you a founder?
http://hnstartups.com/ was started to list the startups of HN users. However, it does not check that a submitter really is a HN user, so it's mostly spam now.
s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: Where do you live?
Just across the Delaware from.
s-phi-nl··on The Miracle of Smalltalk's become:
I was wondering what the lisp version (if any) of become: would be. Thanks for saying it.
s-phi-nl··on It's hard to like Android.
The confusion between problems with hardware and problems with software is one reason why Apple only sells packages of the two.
s-phi-nl··on Dear YC: Please stop downvoting thoughtful comments you disagree with.
I upvote comments that are factually wrong, but where the phenomenon of someone on HN saying it interests me.
s-phi-nl··on Gmail auto-unsubscribe simplifies your life
I personally think this could be worked out by comparing the sender of the email with the unsubscribe link with the recipient of the unsubscribe request and if they aren't related at a certain level, the unsubscribe request wouldn't go through.

Off course, there are probably problems with this, too.

s-phi-nl··on Introducing the Google Chrome OS
I wonder if this has been part of the rise of Linux on the desktop for the last year or two.
s-phi-nl··on Introducing the Google Chrome OS
It is interesting that this, the top rated reply, is not about "With what will this compete?" but "How will this kill competition?"
s-phi-nl··on Poll: How many generations removed from immigration are you?
I voted twice in the poll, for different sides of my family. Is this okay? The original post asks only for shortest generational distance to an immigrant, but does not specifically ask for no double voting.
s-phi-nl··on Interactive NYC Homicide Map
I was impressed with their interactive graphic of the Buffalo plane crash[1]. I'm pleased to hear that such graphics are common.

s-phi-nl··on New Arc Out
I wonder whether Arc will end up in effect maintaining mutable-cons mzscheme. If this happens, I hope that Arc's focus won't shift to the implementation details.
s-phi-nl··on Problems are solved by sleeping
Both falling asleep and using the bathroom are similarly unusual because they don't really involve anything except staying still. So I'm not surprised that you think well in the bathroom.
s-phi-nl··on Ask HN: What do you use to organize your thoughts for a new website or project?
A common theme here (which I agree with) is to use paper (whiteboard, sketch book). Paper allows two-dimensional organization of text, whereas computers force text to be one-dimensional. This linearity, which allows only two branches on a single idea, is too constraining for my creative thinking, during which two ideas branching out from a single original idea. You can of course use lines to implement two dimensions in plaintext, but I find this clumsy.
