runewell··on The problem is with the product
Usefulness is certainly a large factor but when you are being constantly told to take it off when you walk into certain businesses then the "look" of the device certainly matters. If it just looked like a pair of glasses there would be no problems.
runewell··on Apple Acquires Rapid-Fire Camera App Developer SnappyLabs
Will this tech improve live video streams?
runewell··on Apple Acquires Rapid-Fire Camera App Developer SnappyLabs
Cool, hopefully they open source this code sooner rather than later. Obviously they are probably going to keep it as a competitive advantage for the next batch of iOS devices but I hope they open it up shortly after that.

People like TED. TED is sooooo OVER. - Hipster Professor

runewell··on Amazon WorkSpaces
This is nice, finally a company large enough to push out a heavy adoption of thin clients.
runewell··on Silicon Valley Has an Arrogance Problem
Yes, it's SV that is arrogant. Hopefully we can one day match the humbleness and deep community-oriented spirit known as Wall Street. What a joke.
runewell··on There are Ladies Present
Quiet Amy Poehler, no dongle jokes, there are ladies present! http://youtu.be/KgmhhVCLgM8

I'm sorry but I disagree with your opinion. Women are welcome in the tech industry but many parents (not all) simply don't encourage their daughters to be programmers because in truth it can be a very unsocial introverted career path. Who really wants their kid to sit in a chair for 14 hours a day staring at a dull light. At first everyone loves the idea of little genius engineers until their kid is on the machine for a whole week and turns into a techno-zombie. If my kid has a passion for it then fine, if not then I am secretly relieved.

Sales, finance, construction, military, agriculture and religion (if you consider that an industry) could learn more from this lecture than the tech industry. I grew up working in construction and farming, interned for sales reps, and created tools for the finance industry. The tech industry is a woman's best friend compared to those work environments. At least in tech you can commit code and be solely judged by the quality of your work and not your sex, age, race, or physical abilities.

runewell··on A Difficult Situation
It's not reasonable to assume negative outcomes for people you publicly display as "ass-hat" sexists to 9000+ of their peers?
runewell··on The PyCon Incident
I just switched my Sendgrid API to Amazon SES. It won't matter to Sendgrid but at least it's $500 less a month in their pocket. In this economy I can't support a company that gets developers (with a family to support) fired over immature dongle jokes. I've heard much more offensive remarks come from presenters at conferences, this whole ordeal is ridiculous.
runewell··on Not for sale
I understand your point of view. I am trying to sell Gnome.co and Dungeons.co for just a few thousand bucks to no avail yet everyday I see many web-based fantasy games launch on horribly difficult domain names.

Sometimes it's just best to keep the domains you like and wait until you have the time to start a project.

Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation:

This tech is being discussed for use in VR because it stimulates nerves to make your body feel like it's moving. Imagine that roller coaster feeling while playing a flight simulator.
