Where's the evidence for this statement? If anything, all the evidence in the article seems to point to the contrary.
Better yet, what should Fred be doing?
Considering this can potentially ruin Brown's reputation, shouldn't they wait to get solid confirmation before slapping him with the 'insider trading' label?
I'm sure your engagement will be magnitudes of order higher with that announcement :)
How are you taking payments?
Amen
There are merchants who do a small # of transactions a day w/ each transaction being significantly higher than $5.45. For these merchants, dropping the per fee transaction results in negligible savings. A lower % is what matters to them.
Basically, Square is great. It'd be even better if they offered another option.
For eg. I sell a service (in the offline world) at $50 and avg about 9-10 sales per day. With the removal of the transaction fee, I would save about $1.50 per day. With a lower % of the total transaction, say 1.75%, I'd save about $7 a day.
What about an option for business owners to pay a transaction fee but get charged a lower % of the total transaction?
This seems to be a textbook "AOL Way" article that Paul Miller was talking about.
Beatles? Popular.
iPad? Popular (Bonus points for featuring FOUR of them).
Lady Gaga? Popular.
Turnaround time? Few minutes.
Actual substance? None whatsoever.
Steve Gilmor's unrelenting jackassery is getting out of hand. Now that TC is under new management, can someone rein this guy in?
P.S. Justin Rosenstein? Co-founder of Asana?
Can you elaborate a bit on the numbers? Specifically revenues, margins etc
Rather than giving all that money away needlessly, spend a fraction of it on room and board and spend the majority of your time teaching yourself. You'll be done way ahead of 4 yrs.
And then jump into the startup world.
I remember the hours I used to spend optimising my adwords. But not any more. I spend less than 5% of that time on adwords now. By xmas of this year, it should be down to 0.
Wouldn't the user experience be better served by allowing ppl to enter a restaurant name into donteat.at from anywhere (like from their desktop after reading about it on yelp) and getting the health code violations? Wouldn't this save a lot of time and hassle?
Whats the point of getting notified after getting to the restaurant?
Seriously, requiring sign up via accounts on sites like facebook, linkedin etc is a really stupid idea. Startups (I'm looking at you quora!) need to stop this bullshit.
Edit: Looks like quora now allows email sign ups. Good.
