rpaddock··on We need female mice in neuroscience research
"… Men and women's brains are connected in different ways which may explain why the sexes excel at certain tasks, say researchers. A US team at the University of Pennsylvania scanned the brains of nearly 1,000 men, women, boys and girls and found striking differences.

Male brains appeared to be wired front to back, with few connections bridging the two hemispheres. In females, the pathways criss-crossed between left and right. ... "

"...marketing fluff around a Rydberg spectrum analyzer..."

How about the price point?

The paper speaks of DC to 1 THz. Any good spectrum analyzer I know of for anything close to that range, is going to have a lot of zeros in the price tag that puts it out of the budget of just about everyone.

Even covering all of 5G or newer automotive RADAR at 77 GHz is out of most budgets.

The Tayloe et.al. look a lot like Dr Sutton's work for NASA on his Synchronous Demodulator.

"Improved Analog Synchronous Demodulator: Output ripple is suppressed without an output filter" GSC-13179, NASA Tech Briefs, March 1992. Uses dual op-amp and 4053 CMOS switches.

"Digital Synchronous Demodulator: The digital version offers greater speed, precision, and reliability." GSC-13273.

Here Dr Sutton corrects me for mixing two of his unrelated NASA projects:

"Hi Bob,

The synchronous detectors were used in temperature monitors and temperature controllers designed to control temperatures on spacecraft at 60 milliKelvin +/- a few ucroKelvin. The preamplifier had to have a gain of 10E5 after which the demodulated signal had to be converted by a 16 bit ADC, with +/- 1LSB allowable error.... so of course, you can see that we were working with extremely small signals buried in the noise, and we had to go all out in an effort to beat down the noise. That's why we had to use a new improved synchronous demodulator. This project was as close to being impossible as you can get! I still have trouble believing that we actually made it work.

The active ("Black Hole") antenna was developed in another project, where we didn't want to transport a two meter long antenna that weighed 200 pounds.....so we miniaturized the hardware while simultaneously expanding the antenna field cross section. We wanted to receive the entire ELF-VLF bands all at once, so we had to have an extremely broadband antenna....like four decades of bandwidth or more. You wouldn't believe the arguments I had with the reviewer at Physics Essays. He just couldn't believe that one could do what we did....and if it was indeed true, then why hadn't someone done it years ago?.., "and what makes you so smart", .so, of course, "this must be nonsense, etc....." Progress in physics is so bloody difficult because most physicists think that everything worthwhile has already been discovered....so they expect nothing new. This is negative feedback which, of course, makes the system stable, I suppose." - John Sutton, Ph.D.

This an odd case of dereferencing a NULL Pointer. Some Apps default to this valid physical location (It has become a tourist destination for the brave or foolish) leading to strange directions and distance calculations.

If need to have a default make sure it is not a valid location such as using +91 or -181 (out of range values).

rpaddock··on Ferroelectric Memories: The Middle Ground
Part-1 of the parent article mentions "The Dream Of Negative Capacitance".

Unless you want to consider an inductor a negative capacitor, we still don't have Negative Capacitors.

That Corp that makes studio grade audio processing ICs does have a "Non-Linear" capacitor that they use in several of their Design Notes:

https://thatcorp.com/design-notes/

Negative Resistance, Capacitance, and Inductance can be synthetized with OpAmp Gyrator circuits.

If you really want to go down into the weeds look up non-optical Parametric Amplifiers.

rpaddock··on Ferroelectric Memories: The Middle Ground
I designed in an Everspin MRAM when they were a New Thing. That was a mistake. Rapidly designed it out.

Our device used a magnet to activate a Hall Magnetic Switch. This magnet was about as strong as your typical Refrigerator Magnet.

I found that when it got close the the MRAM, which was possible in normal operation of the device, the MRAM was destroyed. To be clear it did not just change some bits. It became dead.

I sent these to Everspin and the report I got back was "The base plate was depolarized".

They did update some guidance to avoid magnetic fields after that.

At some point I saw a report that said they were having financial issues (Gee I wonder why, if your devices get erased by refrigerator magnets?). Today no browser will bring up their site:

"You can't visit www.everspin.com right now because its certificate has been revoked."

I've been told that Cyprus Semi, now part of Infineon, devices don't have this issue. I've not yet been willing to try them.

Something else most of this glowing reports, like the parent article, fail to report is that these devices take a lot of current during operation. So if you want to use them in a portable device, like ours, you have to be able to remove their power source and isolate their data pins.

Wikipedia's information about dental fillings is out of date. In late 2022 the ADA FINNALY, after 150+ years is getting away from Mercury 'Silver' fillings.

What ADA says today:

https://www.ada.org/about/governance/current-policies#dental...

What they said before:

http://web.archive.org/web/20220901072119/https:/www.ada.org...

More background from Minamata Convention on Mercury:

https://www.mercuryconvention.org/en/about

I personally suffered from Mercury Poisoning from dental fillings that went bad. I was cold ALL OF THE TIME. I once sat a sauna where the thermometer showed 200'F/93'C, and I was shivering.

Your Thyroid makes T4. Your cells use T3. The Mercury plugs up the conversion process. So you go to MANY doctors to find out why you feel like crap. They test your blood for Thyroid levels and declaire that your Thyroid is fine, because it is. They don't account for actual usage.

It took a competent Allergist to recognize the problem. Which took him less than ten minutes. Where the Medical Doctors were no help at all.

It took nearly four years to get all that Mercury out of my system, with the help of a qualified dentists. Sometimes, not always, refereed to as a Biological Dentist. Mine did not use that title. If you take the Mercury out to fast and get it into the rest of your system, you do yourself more harm than good.

rpaddock··on Big meat can’t quit antibiotics
Thank you.

No one really knows what causes these issues.

Any other antibiotic is safer. These should have been removed from the market a long time ago. Just read the other comments in this tread for examples.

rpaddock··on Big meat can’t quit antibiotics
The interview is where it is, which I have no control over. I would have posted Dr. B's interview where ever it was as it is related to the Big Pharma book release. He is considered one of the worlds experts on drug adverse advents.

That there are adverse advents with multiple (All?) Big Pharma products is also something I have no control over.

I supplied a link to my late wife's page where all the FDA warnings are linked to directly. The other links can be ignored if that is your desire.

rpaddock··on Big meat can’t quit antibiotics
Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics such as Cipro are often given to animals because they are cheap. They are in no way at all safe for people or animals. Sadly as the parent article shows, the FDA doesn't care.

The book: "Taking On Big Pharma: Dr. Charles Bennett's Battle" was released this week.

I was asked to go with Dr Bennett to speak to members of Congress about the dangers of Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics. As these were a significant contributor to my late wife's suicide. Alas that was right as the world changed at the start of the pandemic and derailed those plans.

I have the many FDA warning for Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics here:

https://www.kpaddock.com/fq

People just don't expect side effects like permanent psychoses to come from their antibiotics, as one of the most recent FDA warnings documents.

rpaddock··on “Entire Body Is Shaking”: Why Americans With Chronic Pain Are Dying
Sadly that is behind a Pay Wall.

Our documentary Pain Warriors is not.

It is free to watch on Amazon Prime and TubiTV. It is also found on iTunes, Google Play and Vemo for international viewers (Those are not free).

Pain Warriors is five stories, one being of my late wife who killed herself because of Chronic Pain. There is one other suicide in the documentary.

One of the stories is of a doctor that lost everything for helping people like my late wife.

This is the other side of the opioid epidemic. Where people that need pain medication can no longer get it.

There is no evidence at all that properly prescribed and taken pain medicine is in any way contributing to the 'Opioid Epidemic'. Yes, there are bad actors out there than do need dealt with for running Pill Mills and such. That has nothing to do with people in Chronic Pain.

As the pain medication has been taken away, deaths continue to mount proving that people in pain have had nothing to do with this problem. It all stems from Fentanyl.

The CDC has recently revised their 2016 guidelines to be more favorable to pain patients. Sadly it is to little to late. The CDC has stated that pain medication should not be taken away from people in pain. Alas the damage has already been done.

I receive no remuneration from the documentary. We are just trying to raise awareness.

rpaddock··on How to Carbon Tax Yourself in 10 Minutes
While that is not a real Tax, this is if you live in one of these states:

"The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, Inc. (RGGI, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation created to support development and implementation of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). RGGI is a cooperative effort among eleven states – Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia – to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

https://www.rggi.org

"PJM is a regional transmission organization (RTO) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia."

https://www.pjm.com

Colleagues of mine have had their electric bills increase by $300 due to these fees appearing on them. I've seen the bills. Opting-Out is not an option.

PJM manages the grid in this region. They provide a service.

On the other RGGI never describes how the money they are taking are actually reducing CO2 anyplace on their website, the last I looked. It is all about trading credits.

"GLOBAL TEMPERATURE REPORT EARTH SYSTEM SCIENCE CENTER THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA IN HUNTSVILLE"

https://www.nsstc.uah.edu/climate/

Actual data, such as the above, have yet to match the scary warnings coming from the Media. The scary warnings is why RGGI claims to exist.

The Data Is Out There...

rpaddock··on The Holtek HT68F001: 16 Byes of RAM, 32kHz microcontroller at ~10-cents
I'm not seeing them for 10 cents anyplace? Holtek 'Buy Online' shows $1.50 @ 500+. So I'm guessing the ten cent price comes in at orders of a million or more?

Holtek makes a lot of esoteric parts, such as the IC for musical greeting cards.

Resource wise these are around 8048 or 1802 style programming. The kind of stuff I love to do.

Some projects just can't afford heavy resource parts. The Toy Industry for one.

EM Microelectronics also makes LOW end parts. 4-Bit parts are still a thing.

My late wife has a PayPal account. When she died I wanted to put my name on the account. They requested a Death Certificate, which I provided. They acknowledged the Death Certificate then demanded prof that she was dead, before they would transfer the account to my control.

I even talked to a Lawyer about this, who also got really pissed off at PayPal's attitude. Alas there is no money in the account so he said there really wasn't anything to do.

The only person that can close the account seems to be my dead wife, and she appears to have no current interests in PayPal's shenanigans'.

rpaddock··on How to deal with extreme physical pain (2020)
Please watch the documentary "Pain Warriors" to see what is happening to people with Chronic Pain and the other side of the "Opioid Epidemic".

"Pain Warriors" is NOT a warm and fuzzy movie to watch. It is five stories, two being suicides one of which was my late wife Karen.

It is also a good example of how today's Medical Establishment fails people. In Karen's case each doctor did what they thought was in her best interests, and I have no issue with any of them. Yet the system as a whole killed her.

"Pain Warriors" can be watched for free on Amazon Prime, and TubiTV. It is also on iTunes, Google Play and Veimo for international viewers.

I receive no remuneration from the documentary. I'm simply trying to raise awareness of obscure conditions like Intracranial Hypotension due to Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Leaks. As well as raise awareness of how broken the Medical Establishment can be if you have an obscure condition or Rare Disase.
