rohith2506··on Show HN: I trained an AI model on 120M+ songs from iTunes
Tried few recommendations and can definitely use an alternative for Spotify radio.

Seems like you are dodging the question of data access and I am not sure why. Even running an intelligent scraper to download 120M song previews sounds too complex and might take days to months as you have to rotate IPs and not bombard the server all the time. If you manage to do that, kudos. That itself is a great achievement. If not, can you let us know how did you get the data access? You might help other devs who want to try something similar

rohith2506··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (January 2023)
Quite interesting as I have been working on something similar for the last two years. Already sent you an email. Happy to chat

Hey Jarred, great work with Bun. I have reached out to you over over email regarding Runtime Engineer. Wondering about the status of that application

I guess you are completely oblivious to how HFT's work and their actual position in the markets. I am a bit biased considering that I work in the industry but actually working in the industry gave me the inner workings of it and how actually they help to close / tighten the bid - ask spread for various securities.

I would highly recommend you to read this book ( https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691211381/tr... ) or if it's too long form, read this article ( https://www.thediff.co/p/jane-street )

I am not saying HFT's are in charitable business but they do serve an important role in the financial markets.

rohith2506··on Ask HN: Digital nomad without leaving the US, why does it feel overlooked?
Sounds like a great environment. I am looking for something similar in Asia for few months. Can you let us know coworking space details?
rohith2506··on Linux Kernel vs. DPDK: HTTP Performance Showdown
This is particularly interesting in HFT where network latency plays a major role in win ratio
rohith2506··on My journey through the American immigration system as a computer engineer
One of the sane decisions I have made five years ago. Go to US for masters and stuck in the long immigration process with no uncertainty or move to Europe with a well paying job. I choose the latter and I couldn’t have been happier. In the last five years, I dealt with immigration twice and that too just renew my resident permit. Last year, I went through civic integration procedure and gonna get an European passport along with OCI card which makes me visa free travel to almost all parts of the world. It’s just a breeze and it’s not just me. Most of my friends have similar stories and we barely hear people complaining about immigration issues. So, anyone who’s looking for an alternative, Europe, especially Netherlands.

The salary barrier is also reducing a lot now a days. When I moved, I used to make high five figures which was quite good for European salaries but now, almost low to mid six figures.

I have reached out on Linkedin but unresponsive. Can you check that please?
rohith2506··on Ask HN: How to stop spreading misinformation on private messaging apps
You completely misread the context. Again, please read the post. If it's not for privacy, there's no need to ask for suggestions. We can just implement 1984. But that's not the society I wanna live in. Nor you want to.

The mere fact that you and me are having this discussion on this platform has a premise that we are educated to a certain level who can tell whats bullshit or not but almost 50% of the population in this world cannot. Again, I am not saying we should play the smart guy role for them but looking for ways to mitigate the amount of misinformation that's being spread.

This is what I call cherry picking just to prove your point. That's a thread where people are giving suggestions on how to mitigate RSI and I gave the solution what worked for me. Didn't say anything that this is the best solution. And also you forgot about strength training and climbing which I mentioned there.

I am always up for constructive criticism but this is not cool

rohith2506··on Hands-Free Coding: How I develop software using dictation and eye-tracking
I see where you are coming from and I strongly suggest to try the conventional route to eliminate any serious physical problems before ending up here. My point is that RSI problems are not just physical but tightly coupled up with your mind. I wish someone can do a better job of explaining neuromuscular connection such that this won’t be pseudoscience anymore.
rohith2506··on Hands-Free Coding: How I develop software using dictation and eye-tracking
I have suffered with thoracic outlet syndrome for almost 2 years. Countless physical therapy and deep tissue massages helped alleviate the pain but nothing seems to solve the root cause. I am 26 and the thought of not being able to use my hands to do something I have frightened the hell out of me.

That's when I stumbled upon John Sarno and his book "The mindbody prescription". I thought it's pseudoscience and I read it with very low expectations. And It's been almost four months since I have trouble using my computer.

In a nutshell, most of RSI injuries are not just physical problems and they are tightly coupled with your mind. The most important step is to acknowledge that subconscious thoughts related to pain and work along with it. Whenever I feel a tingling sensation, I yell at myself ( In my head ) that it's all in my mind and I have started to feel normal. Of course, this might not work for everyone but definitely worth a try.

And I also do lot of strength training and climbing which really helped strengthening my hands

rohith2506··on Ask HN: Great fiction books that have had a positive impact on your life?
Three body problem. I couldn’t recommend this trilogy enough.
