Yeah, Serenityos was build everything from scratch for fun. Ladybird is build where an alternative implementation is going to add value. No need to get sidetracked reinventing SSL or ffmpeg.
I think discord became popular in the first place because it was so much better than the alternatives, at least for the gaming/ hanging out with friends use case.
Discord was initially competing with a bunch of self hosted stuff, vent/ mumble etc with higher barrier to entry and less features and Skype which was terrible.
And assuming people want deeper integration is the browser even the right level of abstraction? Arguably it would be better to have something that was operating at the OS level, like siri/gemini assistant style.
Yeah the example they gave does feel like pretty isolated unit test territory, or at least an integration test on a subset of the system that could be ran in isolation.
It would be a waste of time to develop right now, if it isn't on starship it would be a dead end in terms of progress. So they are better off just waiting until starship can be sent.
Was it actually a cut or was it not renewing something that was expiring? A bill to fund the government seems like the wrong place to be debating new spending.
AI PR reviews do end up providing useful comments. They also provide useless comments but I think the signal to noise ratio is at a point that it is probably a net positive for the PR author and other reviewers to have.
New Glen was meant to fly something around 6 times this year. At this point the best they will do is one additional launch to go with their first launch in January. Hard to see them doing any better timeline wise than SpaceX.
Sure you could end up with occasional misinformation, but the speed at which you can get information more than makes up for it.
Niche topics that would otherwise take hours or days to pull together and summar ise obscure sources takes minutes with LLMs.
This is the Australian system as well. A lot cheaper for the government to collect with the tradeoff that small no name Chinese sellers can pretty much ignore it without penalty.
The problem is more our lack of ability to build them quickly and in a cost effective way. An investment in solar will much more reliably and quickly turn into a certain amount of power generation.
Hopefully this changes once every nuclear project isn't some complex bespoke thing that is likely to be late and over budget.
Nothing to loose if the process for the first one goes nowhere. Use a separate company/ address/ bank account. A past company I worked for had multiple accounts and eBay didn't seem to be on top of this anywhere near as much as Amazon tends to be.
It is interesting that they both licence content and say it is fair use. Seems like those who complain the loudest will get something for their content and everyone else will get nothing.
