I'm sincerely interested to hear the context I'm missing.
The tone is hardly New Testament - turn the other cheek fare:
Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks."
Qur'an (9:73) - "O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination."
This is just the type of "friction" we don't need in an anemic economic recovery.
Is subsidized child care, really cheaper - if you are paying higher taxes to receive the subsidies? Kind of an odd logic.
On what legal principle do you ban the use of a single website for employment screening, yet essentially allow everything else.
So yes - the Obama administration "PUT IN PLACE" this policy. It's not a long article. Read it.
From the article you cited:
"Career employees were ordered to provide Secretary Janet Napolitano's political staff with information about the people who asked for records — such as where they lived, whether they were private citizens or reporters — and about the organizations where they worked. If a member of Congress sought such documents, employees were told to specify Democrat or Republican."
That's a dangerous politicization of DHS and the FOIA process and certainly goes against the spirit of "transparency" the Obama administration was voted in on.
If it's about reducing carbon emissions, simply follow France's lead and move 80% of the world's electricity generation to nuclear and get a 95-97% emission reduction over coal fired plants.
Of course they are not, they are simply re-published snippets of the websites along and Google surrounds the results with ads.
While it's a symbiotic relationship that most websites want - sharing their content for placement in Google's webpages - it's not necessarily universal and ROBOTS.TXT is hardly a "contract" covering your data's usage.
Unlike many in the political class, this man actually PAYS his taxes and the payroll taxes of his 80+ employees in pursuit of private enterprise.
Considering he has risked his own private capital to create jobs, he has earned some right to "whine" about the current trend of taxation.
"We have delayed the release of some 15,000 reports from the total archive as part of a harm minimization process demanded by our source. After further review, these reports will be released, with occasional redactions, and eventually, in full, as the security situation in Afghanistan permits."
This is nothing more than a Federal jobs program at the expense of the private sector.
Spending per pupil has risen every year over the last 20 in Milwaukee and performance & outcomes have dropped dramatically. Logic dictates that there are many other forces in play.
There are plenty of Milwaukee area private options that exceed the outcomes of the public school system for well under $14K.
I'm thinking this isn't a strong "attractor" to our country's best and brightest and results in the impending demographic bomb of the teaching profession.
Newspapers = day old news printed on paper.
I literally thought I was on the wrong site.
There is one spot-on word in that phrase: INSANE-ly.
A program that grants free software licenses for startups. Fairly easy to join.
I try to follow +just enough+ people that infuriate me from time to time - just to challenge my own well established biases.
Then, they hyped the 17min version and edited out all that radio traffic I chronicled (w/timestamps) - not for brevity sake - but because it didn't fit the narrative.
