rkda··on DragonBox: Secretly teach algebra to your children
Just curious, what's with the rule? Also, do they know how to code already?
rkda··on DragonBox: Secretly teach algebra to your children
That would be awesome. I like CodeCombat but it's still direct coding. It'd be nice to learn variables, control flow structures etc but visually. The same way that DragonBox doesn't make it explicit that you're actually learning algebra.

Do they still play it or have they outgrown it now?
rkda··on SoftwareX: An open acess journal about research software
Awesome. Wonder how it would fare against journals with more specific fields though.

Apparently it became so popular in Norway that it actually beat Angry Birds there. Granted, that was in 2012

There's an Android version in case you have old smartphones lying around. They're more powerful than the OpenWRT routers and they do have their own power. You need to root your phone first though.

rkda··on Nature makes all articles free to view
Those are physically objects that cost a lot to replicate. The cost of making digital copies of research documents on the other hand...
rkda··on Ask HN: Are there any JavaScript libraries for generating maps?
Can you post an example of what you want?

If you just want to produce choropleths, you can try Leaflet. Other options include d3.js and kartograph.

Wonder why you're downvoted. I think your point is valid.
rkda··on Introducing Mapbox Studio
I hope they'll open source the other components or others will. Vector tiles are too cool to be bound to Mapbox.
rkda··on PirateBox 1.0
I'm a bit concerned that some unsavory elements will be inspired by this and create a malware box.
