revorad··on Ask HN: Sell, open-source, or abandon a $10k/year Mac app?
You could hire someone. I know you might find it hard to let go of your codebase and feel it's too complex, but there are plenty of good programmers out there.

You said you're concerned about how much it might cost. Surely you can afford to try someone out for a short amount of time, given the app makes $10K a year. If you shut it down or open source it, that income's gone anyway. So why not try to keep a good product alive?

One good place to look for a programmer might be the monthly HN threads by whoishiring - https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=whoishiring

Which bit of the requirements do you think is impossible?
revorad··on Ask HN: Feedback on SaaS marketing sites as a service
Thanks for reporting the typo. Fixed now.

This app is essentially a specialised version of Squarespace, designed only for SaaS products. I haven't seen any Squarespace templates for SaaS. Yes you could hack together one, but the whole point is to make it instant.

Once the basic site is there, I can add more SaaS-specific integrations like subscription billing, lifecycle marketing, metrics, etc.

Yes, I have another one here - http://gini.io/customerwall
revorad··on Ask HN: Feedback on SaaS marketing sites as a service
The service is for hosting your marketing site, say like Weebly or Shopify but specifically tailored for SaaS businesses. So we'll have high-quality themes with your typical SaaS pages, like a landing page, customer testimonials, pricing matrix, ToS, Privacy policy, etc.

You can easily edit in a WYSIWYG interface, no need for code or Wordpress knowledge.

Then you can focus more on things like A/B testing.

Does that make it clearer?

Nice. Have you considered making a version for the browser to show art in the new tab? I never see my desktop but do see new tabs all day long.

Thanks Malcolm. A few people have mentioned it now. I will update the design to make it look a bit more respectable :)

Ok, now I see what you mean. I have a clean new design which looks very professional. Just need to fix a few things and I'll put it up shortly.
revorad··on Ask HN: Feedback on my landing page? - http://gini.io
Thanks, will try to address those things.

Is there any specific element that makes it look spammy to you?

revorad··on Ask HN: Feedback on my landing page? - http://gini.io
Thanks. I'm sorry about the crappy landing page. I'm going to put up my proper design tonight. I was tired of procrastinating on it and just posted it on the spur of the moment.
revorad··on Ask HN: Feedback on my landing page? - http://gini.io
Yeah I should add a demo. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks Peter. I'm going to add screenshots and a video. Gini is mainly for SaaS businesses to have all information about every customer in one unified place, so that they don't have to look in 5 different places, when doing customer support or metrics analysis.

Write a piece of software that you already use. For example, Hacker News.

revorad··on Lecture 2: How to Start a Startup
The mistake is to paint the situation as black and white, which it's clearly not. There are plenty of failures and successes across the spectrum.
revorad··on Lecture 2: How to Start a Startup
That's overly cynical. There are different paths to building a business, and you can choose which one you want to take.
revorad··on Lecture 1 – How to Start a Startup [video]
But then why would you do a course on how to start a startup?
revorad··on Lecture 1 – How to Start a Startup [video]
It's easy to write grand vision statements in retrospect. At the time though, Page and Brin said looking at Sean Parker, "We'll never be as famous as him", as per a story Ron Conway once told at Startup school.
