I think that simple URL bookmarking is just wrong. It simply will not work for big bookmarking data sets. The key is using tags, and rating system, and automatic update which checks if URLs are even valid any more.
I also thought that we miss a killer RSS app.
That is why I created my own self-hosted app.
- it can store bookmarks
- it gather news through RSS
- it provides tags (I can search bookmarks by tags)
- it provides user ratings (I can filter using it too)
- I can filter, or order by link, date of publish, date of creation, etc. etc.
- It checks if links are rotten (and marks them)
- I can mark link to read it for later
- I can see how many times I have visited a link
- I can check 'related links' to jump to things I have jump before from this link
On the other hand, I am quite certain that I use it, because it is 'tailored for me'. I am not that interested in the looks. I know how it works

- platforms are going to be forced to collect more data about you
- The amount of places without you showing IDs will decrease
- There will be more "moderation". You will not be able to provide nsfw contents, then you will not be able to host controversial topics. I suspect games will be more "kid friendly". No more real doom, gta, or Mortal Kombat for you. I remember how they provided more clothes on women for mortal Kombat
- The rules will always be vague, and used sporadically. Just like YouTube rules, where companies often abuse DMCA just to shut you off, or ban you, if you are not playing nice. Like Schlep.
- Corporations will create pressures on validated users, or ban you for life, but often they will just use "fear" to police people by themselves. Just like people will use "unalive" words, because they know they can get into trouble for saying a different word
- Google will be able to police extensions by banning people
- It is all a boiling frog scenario, where it creeps one law after another until everything is moderated, controlled by corporations
- The safety increases, but freedom decreases
- Free software people will often be mixed in article texts with terrorists, bad actors, predators, pedophiles
- It can happen because people do not understand these mechanisms, and they want "safer" world, in which nobody can get hurt, but it is also a place without you being free
I have my apps as web pages, so I access them from phone web browser. I do not care about phone apps that much.
I use fdroid for calendar, gallery, and music though.

I use chatgpt, Google, and my own indexes, like
The more disruption there is in society, the more people seem willing to accept increased control by authorities. I'm not necessarily saying this is part of some grand plan, but it does seem convenient for politicians when circumstances justify stronger control measures.
I use a plain text app on phone for TODOs. I hate notifications, do not use full text search.
I have been using it for 5 years now and I hate the notes apps with their clunky buttons, limiting software, where you cannot write or do what you want to.
I see apps often as regressions toward freedom of note apps.
My project allows to define rules for various sites, so eventually everything is scraped correctly. For YouTube yet dlp is also used to augment results.
I can crawl using requests, selenium, Httpx and others. Response is via json so it easy to process.
The downside is that it may not be the fastest solution, and I have not tested it against proxies.
Screw you guys! I'm creating my own search with open source.
... but seriously it just augments my search.
The next question is if that will work at all. Those that want to find it - they will. If that is true, then why is this verification in place at all?
If not for kids, then why they introduce data-gathering solutions? I wonder why...
- download docker
- download docker manager (portainer? yacht?)
- configure and download images (some images require some environment variable
It's still like linux cake meme.
- For non-docker images it could require a lot more tinkering
- I am self-hosting, and I know that after setup, initial time they pay-off is so spectacular so that I will never go back
Suggestion to other providers is also... something. I have been using other providers. Proton does not allow me to use IMAP on free. Other servers have much spam, which I have been able to clear with some cronjob, but also that is a poor job. Besides... how do you know that other companies are better on serving you? How can I know if they sell my data to China?
And self hosting is tough, even though it is easier than has ever been.
If prodigy created track based on samples from other songs they cannot use word "create"?
If I create a "collage" art, am I not creating something?
I think that some people are fixated on creation part. "You didn't create this picture, because you used Adobe filter on you digital art", "You didn't create this picture because you are digital artist, and was not using real brushes", "You didn't create Hellblade Senua game, because you just used Unreal Engine, and it did the heavy lifting for your, so you didn't really create the game".
Though I must correct you in places. Uploading a video to youtube takes me 1 minute, if not less. I really think that learning instruments takes a lot more time. I don't upload into youtube in multiple formats. I only use one format (as is from suno).
I can play a little bit on guitar and ukulele. I know that this is definitely not a route for me. I use my small pockets of time to lead my hobby projects at github. In life you have to choose about how you invest your time. I have chosen. It is still fun to "create" music through suno. So please do not suggest I should be playing 15 minute a day, since this is my time and I will invest it the way I like.
I understand that "creating" music through AI might be a lesser form of creating music, but for somebody who does not have that time for music this might be a fun thing. I hope you can understand that.
I think that I am creating music, since parts of lyrics are written by me, the rest I accept as they are. I remember xbcd cartoon about how programmers argue about how "real" programming is done.
I also remember that Jean Michelle Jarre had troubles with being recognized because he created "electronic" music, which was treated as something of a lesser form. I remember Andy Serkis not being recognized for his work in motion capture.
I think that you can "do" music any way you like, and play with different tools and things. Sure some musicians will laugh at you because play from tabs, not from notes, but hell I despise elitism.
Most of the lyrics are generated using chatgpt, but I often force it to have some parts of chorus, and there are many 'themes' I want the song to have.
So I play with lyrics, play with tools, and sometimes I am surprised by the final effect.

I created also a concept album. Folk metal about technology and fantasy. That is how "PC goblin", or "Trolls in the motherboard" were created. Some parts of songs are better than other, but in reality I see not so many other songs exploring that niche tech-fantasy area.
The other time I created power metal fantasy album, about AI and end of times. It was really a fun time for me.
I upload these videos to youtube, expecting no views. Unexpectedly shorts get views. I am not sure why. Probably youtube forces any shorts it can find to users.
I personally don't care, as big tech CEO already said in dawn of AI that they don't care about robots.txt
Additionally I have a project that is able to read RSS links and provides it in JSON response
- https://github.com/rumca-js/Internet-Places-Database - Database of Internet domains, links
- https://github.com/rumca-js/Django-link-archive - RSS client, web crawler
- https://github.com/rumca-js/crawler-buddy - web scraper, web crawler, with JSON interface
A project is like a pet. You cannot just "stop" caring about it. If it lives, then you have to look after it
RSS is not that simple and all common properties are read into a simple JSON data. Maybe somebody will find it useful.
I created my own Internet index. That is how I control my discoveries.
Maybe it was my fault to advertise my own solution in comments.
Such behavior however triggered bot detection. I might have behaved like a NPC. So currently a human can be identified as a bot, and banned on that premise. Crazy times.
Currently I feel I must act like a human.
To introduce WEI, to remove possibility of running Linux, or open os. Everything needs to be signed so you could easily be controlled and tracked.
