I'm not advocating dropping algebra, but your statement is a bit sensationalist.

As the article says, they can move to where a house costs $120,000. But they insist on wanting to live in NYC.
It's facts, not superiority.
He works 8 hours a day and sometimes complains that a customer cursed at him.
I work 12 hour days (and I'm on call the other 12 when I'm not sleeping) 6 days a week. I go to sleep and wake up thinking about my work. Am I a workaholic? Yes. Do I love my job? Yes.
My takeaway was that most people don't realize that a typical 9-5 low level job is no longer gonna cut it if you want to live a certain lifestyle.
I don't consider myself superior to my friends; I just made better choices than them.
The customer service rep, for example, had every opportunity to go to college. His reasoning for not going was (and I quote), "I don't need to go to college to learn some nerdy shiz. Let's talk in 10 years when I'm managing a customer service floor, and you're talking geek to a computer."
We're closing in on 10 years now. I'm not gonna remind him.
I tried gently broaching the topic with my friends once. One friend who is a low level customer service rep that never attended college responded "I have a job, you have a job. We work the same amount [we don't]. Why are you able to afford to buy a house, and I can't?"
We have a circle of friends all about the same age as us, all coming from the same SES origin as us (low-to-mid middle class), who complain non-stop about how they can't afford a house in our neighborhood.
My wife and I both started college at 18, and graduated in 2-3 years (CS for me, BSN for her). We worked the whole time we were in college, and ever since graduating. She's currently getting her NP, and I'm still paying off loans from graduate school.
Of our friends, only one has a professional job (RN). Only one other graduated college (financial analysis), but chooses to work as a nanny a few hours a day so that she can have time to herself. The rest are employed in low level jobs, and have no college degree (no intention to get one, or still trying to "figure out what degree they want").
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't really do web dev anymore, but if I was I think I'd be happy about using it.
Maybe a content creator feels differently but I don't have any experience with that.
What native HashTable is used? Shouldn't the JVM be using an optimized one?
I'm writing an Android app using Kotlin (where everything is final by default).
I use mocking extensively when I test, and I had to choose between making an interface for [almost] everything, or explicitly opening everything. I went for the former.
I know mockito has tools now to deal with final classes, but the last time I tried it, it wasn't working so well (at all) for Android.
And if a government would ban circumcision, I'd be willing to bet that all Orthodox Jews would leave. And if the government prevented that (which has certainly happened before), then it is well documented that many Jews are ready to give up their lives in order to circumcise their sons.
Update: only my first comment was theological; the rest were socio-physical
1. There is a subjective morality that says a parent must not make decisions for a child that will affect it in a manner that could possibly be perceived as negative
2. There is a subjective morality that says to follow your religion, and one aspect of the religion is circumcising your son at 8 days old
The people ascribing to the first believe it to be an objective morality. The people ascribing to the second believe it to be an objective morality.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As an orthodox Jew, I can tell you that failure to circumcize your son at 8 days old (outside of extenuating circumstances, e.g. medical issues) is one of the worst sins you could commit.
Furthermore, you would be ostracized from the community, and your child will suffer socially, and emotionally.
Once the child turns 13 he is responsible to ensure that he it's circumcised, and considering that he most likely will not have abandoned his religion by 13 he will go through with it. So now there's physical pain as well.
Does that mean second course, or second class? Because second class would be pretty intense. Although second course is pretty intense too.
If my first course was in JavaScript I probably would've WAT, and gone into psychology.
It's funny reading the comments regarding some of Java's "bad" features like type safety, which I consider to be a strong selling point of a language.
In 101 my professor educated us as to how many holy wars there are in computer science, and that most of them boil down to treating opinion as gold. Then he told us to never get involved in them, and just do the damn job in whatever language, framework, etc... we were currently using.
I'll admit there are issues with Android, but reducing them to the same tired arguments against Java is just lazy (and lack of config files?).

I'm assuming Amazon uses fingerprinting to store only one copy of a file across their system, and just link to it if you upload the same file. If the files are encrypted they can't do this.
