rblackwater··on 17 Year Old Builds a Better Search Engine
I quit watching after the first couple of questions. Anyone know where his research paper is?
rblackwater··on Full-Body Scan Technology Deployed In Street-Roving Vans
"You can't see any details."

An insurance company could buy scans of cars linked to license plates to see if you are gaining weight over time, or how often you smoke. That's what I came up with after a couple of minutes of thinking. I think this technology should be criminalized.

rblackwater··on Shall We Use Clojure?
No, Javascript is imperative with first-class functions.
rblackwater··on Google launches Compute Engine
Correct. Microsoft's OEMs were the real customers and Google's corporate partners are the real customers. Users are the products.
rblackwater··on Google launches Compute Engine
This is great for you, but I think you are one of the outliers.
rblackwater··on Start-Up Chile is OK. Nothing more.
If you are a developer and you have not encrypted your IP on a laptop you are going to leave by itself, well, your shareholders would probably be pretty disappointed.
rblackwater··on [dead]
I appreciate that there is no humor... I think it's hard to allow humor without allowing puerile puns or rage comics. It's nice that if there's a good article on the net, there's usually better commentary on HN than there is below the article. If I want something funny I know where to find it, but it's much harder to find relevant, intelligent discussion.
rblackwater··on How I Designed Code Year in 1 Hour
No it should be "How I Re-designed Promo Material for Code Year in 1 Hour"
rblackwater··on Show HN: AI tool reads privacy policies, tells you which sites sell your info.
This is very cool. Maybe you could make a scriptlet bookmark that pops something on the page you are viewing. Here's one that will redirect you to the privacy parrot page : javascript:location.href="http://www.privacyparrot.com/privacy-policy-for-+location.ho...;
rblackwater··on Something Disintegrates at a Burger King
I think he should be publicly crucified because the irony is delicious.
rblackwater··on Designers as Pawns and Useful Idiots
It mentions that "the top %1 pay more than %40 of taxes," but I am pretty sure I've read that they make far more than %40 of all profits. [citation needed] of course.
rblackwater··on China Frets: Innovators Stymied Here
Who were you speaking to? I just recently managed to convince my (Chinese) wife that trying and failing her own online business would be better than working as someone's slave in an industry she doesn't even like. And our friends here are too busy trying to live on the small monthly salaries they get to even consider taking a risk with a startup.

...let alone the fact if you have a successful internet startup, someone with more resources will make a carbon copy of it and there's not much you can do to shut it down.

rblackwater··on The Richest 1% own 75% of USA's Wealth. Join the Protest.
We already have people complaining that they "only" make $400,000. It's not like a protest is going to clue them in to the fact that they have far too much money while others have nothing; they already know and do not care.
rblackwater··on How to make $250 a day (and get banned from the Android Market)
Fantastic results like these are why scientific studies all use "someone's mom" as a sample size.
rblackwater··on How to make $250 a day (and get banned from the Android Market)
I was on your side until you started pretending that "completing offers" is even remotely close to "quality app".
rblackwater··on The Patent Pledge
I usually enjoy your articles, but I don't agree with your view here at all. These kinds of pledges are not going to prevent NPE's from creating lawsuits and there will always be unscrupulous people willing to participate in the shakedowns.
