rangerelf··on Young Americans Are Dying at Alarming Rates, Reversing Years of Progress
And who are you to label other people as "hopeless dregs"?

That "hopeless dreg" over there might be the father of a young boy who was murdered during a school shooting; that other "hopeless dreg" might be the highschool student who was abducted and trafficked across state lines; that other "hopeless dreg" over yonder might be homeless because of healthcare expenses for a terminally ill family member.

I find your "net positive" comment absurdly offensive.

Or, "if you work really really hard, you might be able to buy lunch".

Visit the moon, don't make me laugh.

I don't know if you're being intentionally naive or disingenuous.

rangerelf··on The simplicity of single-file Golang deployments
Simpler but small updates, like say openssl, become massive distro updates. There's a reason why everyone went with shared libs when they became stable.
rangerelf··on Reordering Columns in PostgreSQL
The order of the columns in your table creation statements is irrelevant to the order of how the columns return to you in your queries.

Your select statement specified the order of your result columns in your result set. Your visualization tools should have the option to reorder the displayed columns to your liking or need.

rangerelf··on Equifax surveilled 1k remote workers, fired 24 found juggling two jobs
Why? Why do you say "it drove you up the wall"?

A contractor owes you exactly what's on the contract, usually a certain amount of work delivered; what she/he did outside of that is (or should be) of absolutely zero interest to you, unless it's some kind of corporate spying or other illegal or unethical behavior.

A full-time employee is usually working based on a certain number of hours, so they owe the company exactly those hours, no more no less; if during those hours they perform satisfactorily, again, anything they do outside those hours should hold zero interest to you.

Your coworkers are right: if they can successfully deliver results while juggling multiple jobs, why does that drive you up the wall?

rangerelf··on Kaspersky is declared a US national security threat and is banned by the FCC
They don't need to nationalize anything, they can just threaten his family with imminent and painful retribution and he'll open it up to anything they want. Period.

All these people whining about "they're both the same", they are not. "Bay of Pigs" argument does not apply, last time I checked Cuba was still standing where on the other hand Ukraine is burning and getting demolished.

It seems that those complaining really really do not understand the horror of living under an "official" or "unofficial" (i.e. government sanctioned vs. government tolerated) mafia rule: either you do what they tell you, or you cease to be, along with your spouse, children, parents, siblings, etc. There is absolutely no negotiation.

rangerelf··on Zim – A Desktop Wiki
It seems to be for Windows only.
rangerelf··on I was deceived about Covid vaccine safety
I read it. I want my time back.

This is the worst kind of misinformation, the one that reads "reasonable" instead of foaming at the mouth, and as such can create doubt in peer-validated articles and reports that quote from them.

"I was deceived" indeed.

rangerelf··on Big oil coined ‘carbon footprints’ to blame us for their greed
> > > People act like oil companies are the ones burning oil. They’re just responding to demand.

> > No, they’re not.

> That would be more convincing if you gave a reason why you say "no, they're not". Even better would be evidence.

He did give his reasoning, you just chose not to quote it:

> > Like tobacco companies, oil companies have actively lied and lobbied to maintain demand and obstruct coordinated effort of exactly the kind you describe as necessary. They are not passive actors simply responding to demand as they find it.

And his reasoning was based on propaganda, if oil companies are just passive actors responding to demand, what's the need for such vicious amounts of lobbying and propaganda? My guess is that they're creating the need, and making sure that information and products that go against that propaganda don't become widespread.

rangerelf··on Samsung remotely disables TVs looted from South African warehouse
Never again will I buy anything Samsung.

They have steadfastly refused to fix my fridge's ice maker even though they have admitted it's a design fault, and retailers will not take it back as faulty because the ice maker is not considered vital to the functioning of the refrigerator in general.

rangerelf··on Canada: Hundreds of unmarked graves found at residential school
"...full stop."

What insane arrogance. Do you have evidence or is this some gut feeling you're having?

Or "common sense"?

Or because you said so?

Edit: accidentally a word.

rangerelf··on Use Alacritty instead of Termite
Keep saying that dude, maybe one of these decades it might even be true.
rangerelf··on The absolute worst scenario happened
> ...I manage a small company...

And you identify with this band of miscreants? That's embarrassing.
