random_duck··on Two Weeks Until Tapeout
True, someone needs to build that computer after all.
random_duck··on Two Weeks Until Tapeout
Thanks for offering. Do you do analog design, and which market niche are you targeting: low cost per part or something else?
random_duck··on Two Weeks Until Tapeout
This project exists, here it is: https://opentitan.org/

More thank light bulbs. As you have correctly pointed it out, its a matter of economics: 180nm is CHEAP! So a lot more things become economically viable, think of all the weird specialized ASICs that used to be to expensive to build.
random_duck··on Challenges and Research Directions for Large Language Model Inference Hardware
No we can't, that would be a crime against royalty :)
random_duck··on Two Weeks Until Tapeout
You can do the entire project roadmap with entirely open source tools and all the tiny tapeout tools are open source.

> Because the official JTAG spec lives behind the impregnable IEEE paywall, a castle in which I am not permitted to set foot as a result of not having paid its lord my dues, the verification of the JTAG TAP was actually quite interesting.
random_duck··on TerabyteDeals – Compare storage prices by $/TB
This is great! Any plans of adding tape ?
random_duck··on The fashion industry that is tech
> The reason is straightforward: pretending software isn’t a medium, pretending that it doesn’t have more in common with the fashion industry’s tight interplay between disposable materials, faddish pop culture, and a hybrid both bespoke of mass manufacturing than it does with engineering, just doesn’t work.
random_duck··on The five orders of ignorance (2000)
Funny how something written in 2000 can sound so modern.
random_duck··on LaTeX Coffee Stains (2021) [pdf]
(This is a joke, please transfer LaTex's consciousness into a computer so it can live forever = w = )
random_duck··on LaTeX Coffee Stains (2021) [pdf]
LaTex is complete it can die happy.

I love the cute diagrams in the `Scan Rate Optimization` section.
random_duck··on Project Patchouli: Open-source electromagnetic drawing tablet hardware
This is such a great project! I want one!
random_duck··on Creators of Tailwind laid off 75% of their engineering team
Agreed. Also I could not imagine being in his shoes, it must be heartbreaking seeing all his work burn like this.
random_duck··on Show HN: Circuit Artist – Circuit simulator with propagation animation, rewind
Also, I will strategically wait until the sale is over because this deserves full price.
random_duck··on Show HN: Circuit Artist – Circuit simulator with propagation animation, rewind
Oh wow, this is such a great project! I love how we can elegantly simulate propagation <3 Congratulations, I will defiantly purchase it from stream just to help it's development.
random_duck··on BLAKE2s Hashing Accelerator: A Solo Tapeout Journey
Nice, thanks :)
random_duck··on Solo ASIC tapeout on a budget: detailed write up
Good suggestion, fell free to post it since you have more karma.
random_duck··on Clavier: An FPGA-based mechanical keyboard with USB hub and comms interfaces
Very cool project.
random_duck··on Alibaba cloud FPGA: the $200 Kintex UltraScale+
The SFP connector pinnouts are in the pinnout section.
random_duck··on Alibaba cloud FPGA: the $200 Kintex UltraScale+
Funny you say that, if you look at the git repo for the blog there are a bunch of asic screenshots currently being committed.
random_duck··on Alibaba cloud FPGA: the $200 Kintex UltraScale+
Lol, nice one.
random_duck··on Alibaba cloud FPGA: the $200 Kintex UltraScale+
Agreed, it would be so nice. But I can also understand they might want to keep dmesg as learn as possible.
random_duck··on I built and launched the first AirPods-Controlled Game
What a cool project! I wish I was the one too have thought of this. :)
random_duck··on Overkill JSON parser optimization: C/Assembly
Found this cool write up on a totally overkill optimization of a json parser, found it fun, though I would share. ( I am just a rando on the internet, not the author ).
