rajington··on Mastering the Ionic Framework: Build and Deploy Native-Speed Angular Apps
Surprised no one has mentioned http://www.appgyver.com/supersonic/ It's basically Ionic with at least SOME of the native speed gripes other comments are complaining about.

I agree that it's not going to meet native but in most cases it's _good enough_ and you are getting both platforms for free. If you can build for both platforms and don't mind learning native stuff then more power to you, but Ionic definitely has it's place. Until I see React Canvas reaching the maturity of Ionic, it'll have its place. I also hope Ionic works on mobile browsers as long as possible, because not many other mobile web frameworks match it.

rajington··on Reapp – hybrid apps, fast
Although everyone is going to jump on the React Native bandwagon, there's good reasons not to. It's not like every write-once framework is going to go away. How far do you think you are from a components library that can compete in breadth and maturity with Ionic and do you think you'll go down the path of what Supersonic is doing with Ionic, but with React (the semi-native components/transitions/views aspect)? The answer probably lies in whether you're starting with an incubator like Drifty did or going to rely on community support. I think there's enough people out there that don't like Angular, but aren't ready for the commitment of a React Native project.

Also, it seems to be looking for a "http://kitchen.reapp.io/assets/sunrise.jpg" in the drawers demo, which isn't there.

rajington··on Accelerat.io – Yelp for accelerators
Really great site. The call to actions in-line is kind of distracting though, may be necessary to get enough volume but it's annoying until then. You could have the footer information be at the top and then remove the call to actions mixing with the data.
rajington··on Ask HN: How Should I Market This Thing?
It sounds scummy but honestly increase the price, then say it's free for the next week in honor of <insert holiday>. After that leave it free. There's a bunch of sites that advertise apps that are "temporarily free" and then a bunch of people who subscribe to those apps who want to get paid apps for free.

Also just wondering, what technologies did you use for this?

rajington··on Introducing React Native [video]
Will the talk dealing with Relay and GraphQL also be uploaded?
rajington··on Use ReactJS to Build Native Apps
I understand Facebook Groups for iOS uses it, but how mature is the current component library (compared to Ionic for example)?

If it's still small do you plan on the majority of future components to be first-party or third-party (community)?

Extremely exciting either way, wish there was a livestream of tomorrow.

rajington··on Just wrote my first ebook about using Ionic for cross-platform app development
Just purchased it, looking forward to going through it. Why did you choose an e-book over screencasts or other methods of teaching? Also, what are your thoughts on supersonic?
rajington··on FontAwesome now has pied piper icons
this is just way too pornographic. pied-piper-alt looks like a guy sucking a dick, and he’s got another dick tucked behind his ear for later...like a snack dick.

Seems like a less mature, but hopes to be more serious approach than CouchApps http://couchapp.org/page/what-is-couchapp
rajington··on Hostnames
we use periodic table elements for releases, we even have "isotopes". version numbers perfectly match to atomic numbers, and they all have abbreviations. it's a great way to learn the periodic table as well.
rajington··on Genderize.io determines the gender of a first name
It seems like he deleted my comment from his site's disqus (it's his right) but I rewrote the exact same API in a couple of lines using sexmachine and ruby (I had been meaning to try Sinatra anyway). The source is here: https://github.com/rajington/genderizer

Hosted on heroku's free tier here are some more interesting examples:

Basic: http://genderizer.herokuapp.com/?name=peter

  {"peter":"male"}
"Mostly" Response: http://genderizer.herokuapp.com/?name=Jamie

  {"Jamie":"mostly_female"}
Country (helps with guesses, default USA): http://genderizer.herokuapp.com/?name=Jamie&country=great_br...

  {"Jamie":"mostly_male"}

Finished POST, changed the domain to genderizer.herokuapp.com:

http://genderizer.herokuapp.com/?name=jessie

http://genderizer.herokuapp.com/?name[0]=peter&name[1]=lois&...

and Done

http://murmuring-depths-3923.herokuapp.com/?name=jessie

http://murmuring-depths-3923.herokuapp.com/?name[0]=peter&na...

Compared to:

http://api.genderize.io/?name=jessie

http://api.genderize.io/?name[0]=peter&name[1]=lois&name[2]=...

I just wanted to learn basic Sinatra, but I might try to do the POST operations too.

rajington··on Genderize.io determines the gender of a first name

  http://api.genderize.io/?name=jessie
  {"jessie":"male"}

  irb(main):005:0> d.get_gender("Jessie")
  => :female
Not only is it better, it handles cases like androgynous and "mostly male"

BRB while I turn this into a web api

rajington··on What is A/B Testing?
Beyond the comments over the presentation style, the metaphor, and browser compatibility I want to see more about your specific app. I like how you did the VWO interface on top of his website, you could easily change the line graph section to show the "Intuitive Reports" feature. Line graphs are easy enough to understand so by including more of your value add features it will still stay simple enough.

I know it isn't specifically A/B testing related, but throwing another shoutout to your app at the end like "heatmaps too!" might be nice. It seems people that would look at this slideshow might not be familiar with any web analytics services, and it seems you guys offer many services.
