if you inject native advertising into the responses? nothing is technically limiting the chat responses from being exclusively the output of the LLM. mix LLM model output with native advertising copy and it's nearly undetectable if you're not looking out for it. and good luck catching those integrated ads in your adblock.
ragingroosevelt··on Ask HN: What “special” app you are using?
Is it still possible to get Youtube Vanced? Last I'd read it got taken down.
ragingroosevelt··on Hijacking infrared to make a dumb device smart
I'd been thinking of trying something similar (but with much less experience) for my Dikon heatpump rather than paying the $300 / indoor unit cost for the official iot solution. I wonder if someone has already done this for the Daikon, too.
ragingroosevelt··on Lastpass Security Incident
I tried migrating from LP to BW and got import errors. Bitwarden's error message was very vague (along the lines of "sorry, something went wrong") and I haven't been able to track down what entries were causing the issue. I've tried 3 or 4 times including trying to reproduce with subsets of the full collection but it's too much of a pain with hundreds of accounts and I so far haven't been motivated enough to manually transfer them or to write a selenium script to do it automatically.

Where's the news-worthy-ness in that, though? I get the sense that a large point of this isn't functional but rather to cause people to talk and think about it.
ragingroosevelt··on Show HN: FFmpeg Command Visualizer and Editor
As a hobbyist who doesn't _need_ this, the 6-node free plan feels very reasonable for tinkering around and sanity-checking something.

As someone with a project at work that involves setting up an ffmpeg project in the future, I'm now expecting to talk to my boss about expensing this and I think it's at the perfect price point where it won't take too much effort to get them to budge.

ragingroosevelt··on Intel and the $1.5T chip industry meltdown
This matches what I've heard about Intel from friends who have worked there. I had a firmware programmer friend who's job was literally to copy data from excel files to .h files and when he offered to automate the process was told that the manual transfer was the process he should follow. He described his role as dead weight.
