raghus··on Apple now rejecting iPhone Apps for "limited utility."
Are the 'inline' comments on the YT video new to YT - or some Omnisio integration?
raghus··on Comcast makes caps official at 250GB/month
But maybe Comcast's intent is to get people used to the idea of a cap. Today it is 250G - what's to say it might not be 150G in 2 years and 50G base in 5 years time and you pay for anything over and above. At that time there won't be such an outcry since the 'unlimited' concept would have become history.
raghus··on FriendFeed readying RSS accelerator
I think the difference here is that there's one feed for all users rather than a ping-per-user/blog
raghus··on FriendFeed readying RSS accelerator
Paul - one potential issue is the size of the parent SUP feed itself. For sites like Facebook/Flickr/Netflix which have millions of active users, the size of the SUP feed itself might be huge. What are your thoughts on getting around that? Overall, it sounds like a super idea.
raghus··on Ask YC: What do you think of a .net domain?
photo.net seems to be doing pretty well
raghus··on Reddit offers custom domain names and styles
Exactly what I was wondering. And I was beginning to like slinkset too. Maybe I'll just keep using slinkset because it is the smaller of the two and for now, does everything I want.

raghus··on Ask YC: What's your day job?
very... and modestly...? :-)
raghus··on [dead]
Google "ycombinator demo day" and this is hit #3. Sure, someone that wasn't invited/referred isn't going to be allowed to attend Demo Day, but I thought the list of what the companies are doing this round was interesting. So while the event itself might not be for the public, this info at this link doens't seem to be secret.
raghus··on The true meaning of Twitter
Not 300 million - that's Y/G territory.

Twitter had almost three million monthly users as of June,

raghus··on YouOS (winter 07) shutting down?
it centers around not finding a use for it ourselves - how did you guys get the inspiration/motivation to work on pojectwedding.com? Either/both of you got married and found such a service lacking?
raghus··on How SmugMug uses Amazon EC2
Hasn't this been repeated word-for-word from MacAskill's blog post at http://blogs.smugmug.com/don/2008/06/03/skynet-lives-aka-ec2... ?
raghus··on Ask HN: how do i move 5 GB of photos?
If you're ok with not being able to see each others' original out-of-the-camera-full-res files, you can 1) first use Irfanview to batch resize them down to 600x400 or something. Irfanview is so much more lightweight than Adobe CS and does batch resizing beautifully. 2) upload the small sizes to your free Flickr a/c (100MB max/month) 3) still get all the goodies of favoriting, commenting, discussions etc.
raghus··on Ask HN: how do i move 5 GB of photos?
Hey, you forgot to say that Disqus is also a YC startup ;-)
raghus··on Persai launches, now called Pressflip
True - I did not realize that the flip icon was a kill. Plus there's no easy way to undo the flip.
raghus··on Ask HN: how do i move 5 GB of photos?
Flickr etc won't work since.. - actually, Flickr is a great solution. Just get an Pro account for $25/yr which comes with unlimited uploads and unlimited sets. You can even set up Flickr uploading to upload lower res files right from your DSLR biggies and get the whole upload done much much faster. You can tag each others photos and pick the best by favoriting etc. add comments, ask questions etc. There's much you can do with Flickr - I'd definitely look into that option.
raghus··on Rails - Simple Asynchronous Processing
Is anyone else using BackgroundRb? (http://backgroundrb.rubyforge.org/).
raghus··on Peer reviewed startups
Unless you are doing something truly unusual or something that requires a lot of investment in time and capital, you should just tell as many people as you know about it and see what happens and reiterate based on feedback.

Consider some YC companies that are still fine-tuning their product. They've been reviewed by the likes of pg and co and had the benefit of their advice for 3 months as well as the benefit of experience from the large pool of YC alumni. But even they need to fine tune based on what the larger market thinks.

raghus··on Amazon Kindle is a Hit
...but you're also misleading... - no, I am not.

In fact I took care to say that Amazon stocks several million titles - they might not sell a copy of every one of those every month.

raghus··on Amazon Kindle is a Hit
“On a title-by-title basis, of the 130,000 titles available on Kindle and in physical form, Kindle sales now make up over 12% of sales for those titles…".

So, it is 12% of those 130K titles, not 12% of all book sales on AMZN. I am not sure how many titles Amazon sells overall but it's probably much greater than 130K which means that the Kindle's share is lower.

Just wanted to point out that the post's title might not be entirely accurate.

(Update: it looks like Amazon stocks several million book titles)

raghus··on Ask YC: Does anyone have the full-text to "Anatomy of a Lisp Machine"?

raghus··on How I built a web app in six days for only Rs. 350 ($8.75)
jugaad is slang for 'work' or 'effort'. So while myjugaad.in might not be the best name for a slide show website it's a pretty nice name - esp for a site that showcases a person's projects/websites.
raghus··on Denmark is now world's happiest nation
I read this in Reader's Digest: "No matter what people say about the United States, immigration is still the sincerest form of flattery".
raghus··on Ask YC: CSS Frameworks
Maybe you're right.

The reason I use YUI is that I suck at CSS, and, rather than spending a disproportionate amount of time figuring out floats and breaks and browser incompatibilities and whatnot, I can get going quickly.

raghus··on Ask YC: CSS Frameworks
I've used YUI more than once. It's pretty elaborate but for my purposes, I've just used their wizard (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/grids/builder/) to set up the grid the way I wanted it and it's never given me any trouble. Plus, it works across pretty much across all browsers.

GupShup is slang in Hindi for chit-chat or gossip

raghus··on It Doesn't Have To Be All Or Nothing With A Startup
Would you say that most of what PG says also can be discounted by your logic? If you're capable of writing one of the first successful web/e-commerce sites and creating a new Lisp dialect and starting a new type of venture firm and writing popular essays, chances are....
