You'll have the scorn of all the geeks on the internet, which could be interesting lol
For example: ^30 Like(30) | Dislike (30)
The point is that people react through visual familiarity. We are to condition to see the UP and DOWN arrows as positive and negative.
Jerry's heart was in the right place, trying to be a rebel and avoid a big bad company coming in, but he completely ignored the business side. The truth was Yahoo! just had bad management, and it started with him.
But having said that, I hope Elop made the right move by putting all his eggs in one basket because they will be thrown back at his face.
When a parent can understand at what level their child is at in their educational path, then they can make an impact. Meaning, if my child has problems just sitting down and absorbing information, they can go out and find answers.
One large part of why the educational system is so bad right now, is that parents are not taking responsibility for their child's education. They blame it on others.
The root cause in all of these issues is parenting. If the parents don't bother to care about their kid's education, it's already lost. The education and school system is part of the problem, but you can trace the child's inability to learn back to the parents.
1) Parents dont care about the child's learning
2) The child realizes the parents dont care and so they mess around in class
3) Teacher and school has no authority to really enforce learning. Meaning, you can assign homework, you can punish them for not doing them, but beyond that, you can't force them to sit down to read and learn.
4) Student fails.
5) Parent is up set at the school system so they complain to the principle, and the school district
6) School district pressures principle, principle pressures teacher to water down the curriculum
7) FAILURE of the entire system
Search for a book, if there is a kindle edition, it will be the one that shows up on the search NOT the paperback. You have to navigate around just to get to the paperback.
It's what you love that makes what you do great. It's the same with many things, but with sports it's more apparent.
- In Japan during the first few days of the new year, they traditionally cook meals called osechi-ryori to celebrate. But nowadays, people just buy premade meals on line and have them delivered.
-Groupon advertised with a company called Bird Cafe to have a special discount on the meals.
-Bird Cafe could not handle the amount of orders, and delivered late and with bad quality. When the meals arrived they were no where close to the advertised pictures. Pretty much it was like ordering a hot meal, and what was delivered was a microwaved frozen dinner.
Many customers were outraged and the blogs lit up in Japan about the mistake on Groupon's part.
The video is about apologizing for the mistake and talks about how to ensure such quality issues do not happen again. Mostly by making sure the companies they work with can handle the orders and uphold their product as advertised.
It various, I know people who do little html and consider it programming. And obviously there are those in charge of huge software developments.
Attacking this site is like attacking a flyer for being too gimped on information.
For the people that say this should be an IT policy issue let me explain to you how academic people work.
Professors and researchers are KINGS and QUEENS. You CANNOT tell them what to do, nor can you force ANYTHING on them.
The only exception are the engineering professors for obvious reasons they have their shit together. Other faculty are just plain morons and think they can do everything on their own.
Professors and researchers get to buy and chose their own laptops, and they can do whatever they want. Unless they fall under the administration side, IT cannot tell them what to put on or do with the laptop.
Just to get off my chess I'll tell you one of many stories. A faculty member brought in his school paid laptop, and he obviously used it for personal reasons. This is his main work laptop with all his data (again we can't force them to follow our policy since they are not administration), so he has no backups or any antivirus scans.
His laptop had over 5000 viruses when I ran a virus scan. This is no joke, I have the screen shot somewhere. I refuse to clean and told him I will rebuild it. Which I did and put all this files back. I explain to him exactly what I did in an email, what he would lose (software etc) and he was okay with it, remember I have this in email. Only when he agreed did I go ahead with the rebuild.
He comes back and writes an email to the department chair that I had broke his laptop and had to rebuild it. Then I lost his software which he paid for and wants the school to pay for it back.
I almost kicked him in he face even if it got me fired. Luckily my boss stepped in and took care of it.
I remember back in the old days when I would bring up anything tech I got called a nerd and/or geek and it was the kind stuff you dont talk to normal people about.
I got made fun of by people for talking about IRC channels and being on internet boards, back when they were command line.
The weirdest change for me as been the acceptance of knowing about technology. Today if you dont know what the interent or a computer is you are consider old and out of date. Back then if you knew that stuff you were an outcast.
1) Do not get into law right now. It is experiencing an outsourcing much like tech did in the early 2000s.
2) ONLY, and seriously ONLY, go if you truly love to study law. You will NOT find a job, and most likely you will have to do crap work for awhile.
What made me decide to hold off law school was the fact that I would accumulate too much debt and not be able to pay it off in a timely matter.
A LOT of law students that I spoke to had his grandiose dream and vision of a top job making hundreds of thousands.
One friend told me up front, he chose not to listen, he thought that everyone was just being pessimistic telling him not to get into law, he like most young students, didnt realize how bad it was, no matter how many warnings they got.
A lot of leaderships like coaches are usually on short lifespans. The executives knew that by forcing the company to think about losing two top execs it was serious and maybe reconsider. In this case it was a good gamble.
Their intentions is what makes the story great, though. Honestly I would have given a list of people to layoff, but that's why I am not a great leader or a leader of anything for that matter, of any sorts LOL
Maybe it's more or less the unit that you're with at Netflix?
Would have been better off just to say "The next big thing will be...."
People are smart to figure out it's not from the US once they go to the product page. Let your product speak for itself. You want your product to be globally accepted and liked, you dont need to throw in nationality.
I really dont go out much, because of location, there is not much to do. So me limiting my internet use amounts to working out and waching TV.......which kinda sounds like prison lol
I kinda justify things lately by learning online. For example I take classes online for various things like learning a foreign language, or playing the piano, or learning new technology etc
I honestly think whoever was in charge got pressured and acted with money and greed in mind instead of the actual users. Karma is a bitch.
