Awesome story. Where did you find this head of sales, and how'd you convince them to work at your company? I know you said the tech was special but was that really all that it took to convince them? Was there more at play (eg. Attractive company culture, industry, etc)?

This is awesome, I use Semantic UI a lot and it's annoying how there's no date and/or time picker component. I'll probably use this for dates but as others have mentioned please please consider building a time picker as well :):)

I used to organize a lot of small events (under 50 people; $10 tickets). We used a bunch of different tools to help enhance the event like Sarahah for live Q&A, Google Forms to collect feedback, Eventbrite to sell tickets, FB event page to relay information.

It worked okay but the problem with having a bunch of different tools was trying to convince our attendees to hop on all these platforms to participate. Waiting for people to load up Sarahah, enter the code,and start to ask questions added friction to our event.

The solution is to have a centralized platform with all the tools built in so there's no problem with onboarding. Currently that exists in the form of event apps but event apps are really expensive (thousands of dollars) so we couldn't afford them for our small events.

That's why I'm creating Chapsule - a self-serve platform to create your own event app. The goal is to eventually get it to a state where the platform is robust & customizable enough to service ALL types of events (conference, meetups, parties)

I haven't heard of them - looks like they're a wallet that automatically conducts pre-authorized transactions. Pretty cool. Biggest limitation I see is that they only support splitting transactions from select vendors.

I think it would be cool if they allowed you to split anything - but I guess the problem is coming up with a viable business model. If you use something like Stripe to facilitate transactions, the added fee can be pretty deterring to potential users. I'm not sure what would be the best business model for an idea like this, apart from maybe a subscription more & betting on users not actively using the product?

Yeah you're right that in my personal example using this app was overkill.

The use case I actually had in mind while developing this was continuously using this to track expenses while on the trip - that way you don't need to pull together all the receipts & verify expenses at the end of the trip

Currently it only supports splitting the expenses equally among all members of the group.

I recently went on a trip to New York with some friends and we all made miscellaneous group expenses. When we came back we used this app to figure out how much we owed each other.

I was curious to see how users interacted with my site so I implemented Segment analytics. I wasn't able to find a free data visualizer for my analytics, so I'm creating my own. The goal is to simply enter your AWS credentials, and let the software do the rest. This is part one of the project: turning the raw logs into useful JS objects.

Part two will be creating a front-end dashboard to visualize the data. So far I'm looking at adding a log of actions by unique users, total # of visits to each page, total # of unique tracked actions, and a graph that shows traffic over time. Is there anything else you think might be interesting to visualize?
