r32a_··on NIST's answer to “Do you need a blockchain?”
Definition of blockchain is fluid because a blockchain is a combination of many technologies.
r32a_··on Don’t work “remotely”

r32a_··on Insomnia: To Pursue Sleep So Hard You Become Invigorated by the Chase
This is how some people overcome a creative block, they get frustrated when they don't get good ideas and that stops them from getting good ideas.
r32a_··on Nix Language Primer
I don't care about those features, I just wanted to download the packages and it's dependencies and in the end it never did that.

Nix is probably good for many things, but it's not simple and to me it's trying to do too many things.

r32a_··on Nix Language Primer
Exactly, let's make the package manager do 100000 things.
r32a_··on Nix Language Primer
Cardano the cryptocurrency is written in Haskell and uses nix as it's package manager
r32a_··on Nix Language Primer
I've had the displeasure of being forced to use nix and to me it seems like an overengineered piece of garbage. I don't see why anyone should use this vs competitors
r32a_··on How to Handle Monetary Values in JavaScript
Many cryptocurrency libs like Web3 opt to use bignumber js for all money manipulation
r32a_··on The path to $100B [video]
People can choose to work together if they wish that's the whole point of fully remote.
r32a_··on The path to $100B [video]
Easier said than done when everyone follows this strategy you're going to have lots of competition.
r32a_··on The path to $100B [video]
One small caveat is if someone is very wealthy, they can spend $0.9Billion buying lottery tickets which increases their odds vs someone that just buys 1
r32a_··on The path to $100B [video]
I'm interested to see who can build the first $100B, fully remote company.
r32a_··on Open-source crypto is no better than closed-source crypto
But they have been called out many times
r32a_··on Rifts Break Open at Facebook Over Kavanaugh Hearing
Can't remember the last time I heard a positive news from Facebook
r32a_··on Coinbase Wants to Be Too Big to Fail
You cannot compare Bitcoin transaction to a visa/mastercard transaction.

A Bitcoin transaction is closer to me giving you a gold bar than doing a credit card transaction.

The payments layer is being developed and it's called the Lightning network. Which is faster than Visa/Mastercard and cheaper and can scale much greater and have a better resilience than Visa.

r32a_··on Coinbase Wants to Be Too Big to Fail
This is FUD. Blockstream does not own Bitcoin Core and does not even sponsor a majority of the developers. Their "influence" has actually dropped since the departure of Maxwell as CTO
r32a_··on Coinbase Wants to Be Too Big to Fail
That "feature" can be built on top of Bitcoin with a Visa powered by Bitcoin.

When people do a Bitcoin transaction, its akin to me send give you a $5 note on the internet not a credit card transaction.

r32a_··on XML, blockchains, and the strange shapes of progress
> Blockchain is being touted as a panacea, a solution to every problem, not just every data integration problem

Pretty sure that happens with every new tech.

> XML never had any association with large scale fraudulent activities.

I'm sure many criminal organizations have used XML

r32a_··on Decentralisation: the next big step for the world wide web
Imho it comes to incentives and different factions keeping each other in check, the same way it's done in Bitcoin and in some ways in Democracy. Although it's important to note that Decentralised systems are different to Distributed systems. In decentralized systems, there exist parties with more influence than others but none of those has enough influence to overpower all of the other ones.

You could see this play out every time any party has tried to take full control of Bitcoin. So far everyone has failed

r32a_··on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are useless
I'm happy its been added to the list: https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoinobituaries/
r32a_··on Full Ethereum blockchain now available as a BigQuery public dataset
compare the size of the bitcoin blockchain and the ethereum blockchain.

Now see when Bitcoin was launched and see when Ethereum was launched.

Facts speak for themselves.

r32a_··on Full Ethereum blockchain now available as a BigQuery public dataset
This is why Bitcoin blockchain is more concerned about keeping the block sizes small and efficient as possible than adding fancy smart contract features that just add bloat to the blockchain.
r32a_··on LiteTree: SQLite with Branches
I think it could be pretty cool for concurrency.

Branch off, do some queries, inserts/updates and then merge back in

r32a_··on Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are awful and terrifying, mine eventually turned into panic disorder, but after over a year of working on it and taking it step by step I was able to beat it and without any medication!

In my experience, the following helped me.

* Meditation

* Deep breathing exercises

* Exercising especially cardio.

* Cold water showers

* Learning about panic attacks

* CBT

r32a_··on Bitcoin, Ether Sink as ‘Sense of Panic’ Grips Crypto Investors
Another day another Bitcoin obituary.

Surely these articles are click baits at this point.

r32a_··on React Native at Airbnb
I've experienced this console.log bug too
r32a_··on Square obtains NY State cryptocurrency license
Bitcoin has the lightning network which is already in production and in use today with a few little applications running on top of it.

r32a_··on Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak hopes Bitcoin will become global currency
He may have done his research and came to that conclusion, he isn't claiming to be an economist, civil servant or researcher.

Also, no one is forcing you to use Bitcoin, Your government, however, forces you to use the state-controlled money.

r32a_··on Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak hopes Bitcoin will become global currency
If he is a brilliant engineer then he probably has done his research on that matter and has come to this conclusion. If he had no idea or at least wasn't informed enough he probably wouldn't comment on it.
r32a_··on Facebook moving away from React Native?
@Vjeux has denied this....

Also Facebook Marketplace is built with RN
