queenkjuul··on GitHub is having trouble counting things
I don't know if you know this but 2006 was a lot more recent than 1906, and some of the same people are still there
queenkjuul··on GitHub is having trouble counting things
I always figured this was intentional because i had been deliberately trying not to use the chat feature but they were pushing it really hard in marketing and, well, they got me to click... And also to stop using the site entirely

The "page two is inaccessible" thing is, imo, severe. I've seen it myself at work, and there are lots of parts of the UI where I'm regularly looking for something on page 2. I didn't even think to try the JavaScript console hack but like, i (my employer) is paying for access to that data, and it's simply not there...
queenkjuul··on Data collected by cars and sold to third parties
Just looked up my 2016 Toyota. My car has no telemetry module, and for cars that do there are companies that sell harnesses that plug into the module, terminating the antennas and/or cutting power without affecting anything else
queenkjuul··on Cpak – OCI application package format for Linux desktops, servers and devices
I want that for the core system packages but sometimes you need the latest version of some random utility to use for a one off task, and in those cases these package formats are handy: download an AppImage and make no changes to your system, install a Snap/Flatpak without cluttering the system libraries, run something once in an ephemeral docker container.

I don't know how this happens to me but i always have trouble with Bottles. And not just the slightly bad UI, but like today, i have an installer that i can run directly with Steam that i cannot get to run in Bottles. When i last used it a couple years ago i did get what i needed working successfully but i remember it being a struggle.

Nobody said autocomplete lacks utility...
queenkjuul··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
We can report it however we want regardless of how it may or may not be prosecuted
queenkjuul··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
Yeah cybersecurity as a field is a joke. Who cares what happens to existing 1s and 0s? People get worked up over the silliest things, as though numbers on a server could affect real people.

99℅ of people do not believe in murdering others for their religious beliefs
queenkjuul··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
It is amazing but i wouldn't call it sad.

He definitely wrote with admiration about US treatment of native and black people

Too generous. CEO Of $CORP caused millions of innocent people's lives to be damaged
queenkjuul··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
I can't say it enough how angry it makes me that a kid i knew in high school who anonymously reported a vulnerability on his college network was hunted down and given federal charges, yet not one single person at OAI or else will see even the threat of consequences for deliberate infiltration of random networks.

Copyright immunity was one thing, annoying yes but naturally a civil matter, this shit is a different level

They are an extremely sophisticated and impressive autocomplete. Nobody said they're not sophisticated or impressive.
queenkjuul··on Measuring the sloppiness of code
The job market sucks for absolutely everyone right now, it's not a SWE thing. Fwiw I've had five recruiters reach out to me in the last four months and I'm not even applying places.

It's a far cry from 2021-2022 but I'm not convinced it's worse for SWEs today than it is for everyone else

queenkjuul··on Measuring the sloppiness of code
Oh man, the "unit tests" that test whether the framework/browser/language is doing what it's supposed to drive me insane. Those have their own tests already! Test the unit under test, that's why it's called that!

AI documentation is practically worthless ime. I forbid it in my projects. It's almost always more useful to not have any documentation and read the code than to rely on AI docs.

Testing though I'll mostly give you

queenkjuul··on Shopify acquires Tailwind
I worked at an enterprise in 2022 that still relied on IE11 in certain places
queenkjuul··on Shopify acquires Tailwind
You wouldn't need tailwind for svelte, but I've been using tailwind with svelte at work for years now and really like it
queenkjuul··on Keep Our Servers Running
They have torrent downloads for a lot of content, I've downloaded almost a terabyte from them via torrent, they're just not bundled, as in you would need to retrieve each torrent file for each item individually, which might still get you a 429 if you automated it idk.

I've never actually got a 429 using a browser though personally, they do throttle aggressively though

queenkjuul··on How accurate have Ed Zitron's AI skeptic predictions been?
Ah that's why they're losing billions of dollars a month...
