wow....that is pretty interesting. how do you write your own fuzzer, seems like that's where the edge comes from? How much more of an effort is it to write an exploit? Is it necessary to build a Proof of Concept or is simply disclosing the vulnerability enough?

If I buy ADA what software/API can I start tinkering with?

What you described seems like so much fun but scared of the writing exploit part. Now that seems really hard especially considering it needs to be fully undetectable for a long time until the buyer gets their return on investment.

Is there a course or resource I can use to begin this path?

I love love poking around with things to see how they work....basically the chase or the process is what I enjoy most and curious to know more.

How did you get into all of this?

pwaai··on Zero-Day Vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Leaked on Twitter
wow...you piqued my interest now...

what API or software should I start with? Also, @SandboxEscaper mentions logic based exploits vs memory based ones which are disappearing (?), what is she referring to?

also any good resources on starting this journey. I'm very serious about this because it potentially could be a dream job for me.

perhaps...I do notice Japanese roads are way clearer. No fading road paint...everything is crisp clear...

best of all, no fast n furious wanna be-actually Japan has a thriving car culture and the police never seems to be able to catch those guys.

> Edit: I've also noticed on HN that sometimes I will get downvoted really hard for no clear reason and then two weeks later HN will magically transform my downvotes into upvotes. Not really sure why that happens, maybe a wave of bot banning?

Yup, I've seen this more recently but now the cycle is faster. My comments regularly get downvotes but then later in the evening they turned into upvotes.

Also back in Dec 2017, there was a huge wave of people shilling on reddit for ICOs and subreddits would regularly post what "HN users think" and "how to correct them".

It absolutely is relevant. Imagine being born into a body of your opposite sex and having to deal with a society that isn't advanced enough to realize the binary genders arose out of industrial revolution for productivity efficiency to benefit the few. It still is this way but we don't have factory with prison like buildings to work in but we are all still feudal subjects.

I'd like to also point out that there is a very real cabal of HN nicks that is actively doing drive by downvotes on specific topics centring around LGBTQ+, immigration and ICOs.

I started seeing this back in 2014 and it correlated with the rise of r/the_donald. There are even amino groups that specifically coordinates such attacks. For instance, the Damore threads were really interesting. Within the first few hours of posting there were a lot of comments seemed off for HN userbase, defending trump and Damore's manifesto. Counter comments were flagged and downvoted.

We know reddit is under the influence of shills and HN is not exempt.

I'm always curious about the individuals discovering these zero day vulnerabilities.

What framework do they use to find it? Is it just educated trial and error until you hit something?

pwaai··on Magic Leap One now available for $2295
Well if you are privileged to invest in Magic Leap One, they probably aren't hurting...no sympathy from me when their plans to buy a yacht is ruined :/

It is backed by Google so there is probably plans to improve the hardware which as it stands is not impressive OR knowing Google they could pull the plug just as easily.

In fact, Magic Leap One, is looking to be a major major flop, shortly after somebody released a review on the limited focal view and some annoying hardware designs I knew it was fucked.

This is an interesting perspective but knowing Japanese culture, it's more to do with risk aversion and losing face by announcing something and then having it blow up in public. Very different environment.

In the US you can commit white collar crimes and still have people invest and give you the benefit of the doubt. There's no sense of shame rather glee and glorification, the i-get-money-fuck-you attitude.

In Japan, people will commit suicide for way less or even perceived wrong because there is a great deal of shame imposed on the individual for fucking up. Tough to innovate when failure is so taboo, people are willing to remove themselves from earth.

I doubt it. It seems like a top down strategy outside of Waymo. Operate in silence training on vast amounts of data while your competitors are splashing in VC money thinking if they throw money at it they can solve it.

This. Google's economic moat is their data. Proprietary data they've accumulated for the past two decades for various products and strategies. We should see a serious google competitor but we don't. Bing tried it and failed because they just cannot match Google's superior data.

So whoever is trying to emulate Tesla is in for a nasty surprise, Tesla is automation 2.89. The last miles is the hardest and requires an ever increasing amount of data. while safer than humans driving Tesla's autopilot failures have done far more damage to the brand than accounted in the stock price.

Google/Alphabet/Waymo figured out their end game was to build the data that their competitors will not be able to emulate easily or costly.

So far Uber is spinning its wheels and Tesla has lost focus of the killer feature of their car, coming dead last in terms of automation ranking when compared to other major luxury brand manufacturers. But this is HN, and they love Don Papi Musk

I gave up trying to land the front page on HN. It just doesn't have the same quality of traffic or discussions from 5~6 years ago when HN was at it's peak.

What's more there are a lot of false positives in the comment sections from a demographic that isn't 100% representative of your target market.

I always wondered why there are no serial killer type of games or with realistic gore simulation. It's bad PR for giants like EA yet they've repeatedly opted for pay to play models which resulted in huge backlash.

pwaai··on SEC Charges Rothenberg Ventures in Fraudulent Scheme
It's a full spectrum of monopolies that collectively represent a colonial apparatus...I'm not talking naval and nuclear projection or occupying a foreign country...

Putin has clearly mastered a new type of war that specifically weakens America's monopoly on violence both domestically and internationally.

You can already see the symptoms of an institution slowly coming to gripes to a major espionage campaign that did not stop after the USSR fell but evolved into a criminal state, one that explicitly seeks to include criminal elements to distance the Kremlin.

Americans rely on a network of multi-national corporations to do their bidding, Russians rely on the mob.

pwaai··on SEC Charges Rothenberg Ventures in Fraudulent Scheme
yeah I've pretty much given up on the justice system.

if you have money regardless of how you obtained it, the law always favor those with capital for the most part. Unless you try to fight back against government's monopoly on violence....drug traffiking being a major competition, it makes sense why harsh sentences are handed out for drug dealers while white collar criminals that inflict damage to millions of people all over the world gets a slap on the wrist.

pwaai··on Video-to-Video Synthesis [video]
Does this mean that in the future we could literally be able to play FMV games?

Basically, an AI that has been trained on every digital film there is which in turn also generates unique permutations to further increase the training data....

Will be able to conjure up things like Breaking Bad Season 8: 'Lil Heisenberg and pretty much even helmet cam videos from war zones in Donetsk that you could control in real time....

Singularity indeed.

that's it...im moving to GCP

sorry but Rekognition rekt it for any type of computer vision on AWS.

Great infrastructure...after all I do have an AWS Solution Architect Associate certification....which means jack shit

Great move by GCP, I'm also very pleased with Firebase and it's integration with cloud functions....

BUT my biggest reservation still in 2018 when it comes to serverless is the cold start up time...

I built a token based API on AWS Lambda and registering, signing up took forever when the app was not at peak. that was 2014 tho.
