psyc··on Show HN: Pornpen.ai – AI-Generated Porn
Add reefer into the mix, and you've got a recipe for madness.
psyc··on Show HN: Pornpen.ai – AI-Generated Porn
I've had an inexplicable fetish for naked women since I was about 11. My therapist and I have been unable to discover the roots of it. No accounting for kinks, I guess. I never tell anyone IRL, lest women become self conscious about being naked in front of me in everyday casual situations. Plus the shame. My girlfriends usually figure it out, if they're perceptive.

Now for serious. I have always found it unintentionally hilarious how many people appear to believe that porniness resides in the object, rather than in the viewer. Carrying on with categorizing this thing as sexual, and that thing as non-sexual. That only works for legal and regulatory purposes, sillies, and then only barely!

You know how progress goes in this industry. The first nude I ever downloaded was 320x200x16, dithered. All I had to do was stand back 5 feet, squint a li'l...

Thank you for your hard work.
psyc··on Why Machines Will Never Rule the World – Artificial Intelligence Without Fear
Oh jesus not this shit again. Will someone please make a bingo card or a flowchart of this discussion already? I'm too lazy.

I'm talking about mass killings. It wouldn't sound jarring to me in the contexts you're talking about.
psyc··on Ex-Twitter exec blows the whistle, alleging reckless cybersecurity policies
It looks like you're reading several things into GP's comment that he did not write. At least I read it completely differently. I.e. that perhaps Mudge's alleged failure was "not playing ball" regardless of what the particular game might have been in that corporate environment, at that particular time, under/beside those particular execs.

> Rarely does anyone even bother scratching at the fiction of our real life linguistic tricks

My mind is sort of constantly doing this in the background, because even in mid life it never stops being jarring to me and knocking me out of the flow of language-interpreting.

My favorite example has always been "senseless act of violence that took the lives of 20 innocent people."

1. Come on. The guy had a reason that would be comprehensible to most people, even if nobody considers it a justification.

2. What does it mean to call a group of people innocent? What were they innocent of? Telling lies? Emotionally abusing others on occasion? That's doubtful. Innocent of anything that would merit being executed by a concerned citizen? Since when do we endorse vigilantism at all? Was there some doubt as to whether all 20 people in the west wing of the elementary school were all chomos maybe? WHY DO THE VICTIMS ALWAYS HAVE TO BE EXONERATED OF NOTHING IN PARTICULAR

Promiscuous middle managers and C-Levels? I'm thinking they carry a heavy load, shed a lot, really get around, and frequently attend superspreader events.
psyc··on How to Convince Me That 2 + 2 = 3
From the same author:

(In case anyone feels like shitting all over this essay, 47 other extremely learn-ed HNers beat you to it all the way back when Steve Jobs was still alive.)

psyc··on Gmail will call the cops on you based on the content of your emails
I can testify that while most of those were originally legit, at least a few of those in circulation originated as original content on paid porn sites. Fetish category: lactation. Off the top of my head, Katarina Hartlova, Nadine Jansen, and 'FTV Erika' were all on there with bullshit 'educational' subtitles.

psyc··on Workplace surveillance is coming for you
Ah yes, the Risk Clause of the Just World Hypothesis.
psyc··on U.N. expert says minorities suffer slavery in Xinjiang
Five different people jumping down your throat over that joke is surely the most ironic thing I’ll see today. And it’s only 8am.
psyc··on Nobody wants to teach anymore
This is like saying learning how to make bombs is literally the product of being self taught, since school teachers wouldn’t have taught you that.
psyc··on The Google Pixel 6a highlights the problem with the U.S. phone market
It's kind of amazing that you're clever enough to generate a complete decision tree for all the problems and solutions, and yet still have a blind spot for what the problem is, despite six people trying to explain it.
psyc··on Halo system link still holds up more than 20 years later
Do you feel any aversion to locking people in your house, feeding them only on your schedule, and deciding when they can go to the bathroom?
psyc··on A dad took photos of his toddler for a doctor – Google flagged him as a criminal
A different article recently prompted me to wonder (I'm American): We know exactly at what age someone becomes 'legal' wrt images - do we know on which day of their life a person first becomes 'illegal'?
psyc··on Midlife: A Philosophical Guide
The problem that amount of money solves is having to trade your waking hours and obedience to bosses or clients in exchange for room and board.
psyc··on The Power of Hugs in Anime, from ‘Sailor Moon’ to ‘Spirited Away'
Late 40s and I also don't know what gp means. I don't think "in the US" is the appropriate level of granularity for such a statement.
psyc··on Ask HN: Who is using C++ as the main language for new project?
Me, because Unreal Engine.
psyc··on “Autistic people can’t acknowledge when they’re wrong”
I’ve acknowledged I was wrong countless times - often readily. I don’t find it inherently difficult or uncomfortable. There have also been many times I’ve refused to concede even a little, because that would have been a white lie (in my mind) even though I knew full well it would smooth things over immediately. Those people probably perceived me as incapable of admitting fault. That’s what they usually yell at me, after all. And I get told I’m arrogant about once a week. I never reply to that, but I’m always thinking in my head, “I never tell anybody that they’re anything (negative). Why is it so easy for other people to tell me I am this that and the other……”. Am autistic.
psyc··on The “bicameral mind” 30 years on (2007)
Uhuh. Because traditionally, the Web existed
psyc··on “It’s time for Apple to fix texting”
This comment says almost exactly the same thing without the first sentence. This trend of everyone calling everyone else a something-ist can’t die fast enough.
psyc··on The “bicameral mind” 30 years on (2007)
This made me smile a little. As a hermit-by-choice, this has long been one of my theories about the rest of you talking monkeys when I'm feeling uncharitable.
psyc··on Ask HN: Where should I move to meet interesting tech people?
The commenter implied that they might be a crypto folk. Downvote? They'd try 'em for high crimes against humanity and hang them the same afternoon if they could.

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.
psyc··on Sensitivity Readers Are the New Literary Gatekeepers
This is a good point. Sometimes I wish I lived in a part of the world where the Overton Window respects the speed limit. One thing that irks me is that our new progressives are constantly trying to pull the "We've always been at war with East Asia" scam. It goes like this: "We've always blank, this is no different. We already blank, this is no different. You already approve of blank, this is no different." And I'm like, "Huh. That means you'll be able to scale back your activism significantly. Everything has been so close to how you want it to be this whole time."

I don't mean that everyone thinks that way. I mean everywhere I go there are people who think that way, and they are invariably lecturing everyone else. Givin' free lectures. And playing Evil Or Not with everyone.

psyc··on Cramming 'Papers, Please' onto Phones

I see there are already multiple people busy Motte N Baileying you. Don't you like goodness and light, gatvol? Why don't you like progress, gatvol? Why? All we're asking for is good. What's wrong with good?
