According to my sister (as well as all the data I've seen and the literature I've read on the subject) the usage of Snapchat and Instagram are BOTH increasing in popularity. The kids aren't as into Facebook though.

Could be argued that, when a company like Facebook acquires something like Instagram (which is itself a pretty straightforward service that wouldn't be difficult for a team of competent developers to build), they aren't really buying the app. They're buying the user base.

Anyone can build a Snapchat, but not anyone can have millions of active users.

Sorry, just had to point out my opinion that that argument isn't too relevant to the discussion.

Heads up - the formatting on the page is kind of screwy. The bottom 2 buttons are partially obscured by the white bar on the bottom of the screen, and I'm not able to scroll down and reveal them. I'm on Chrome v 31 on Xubuntu.

Just an FYI :)
