psnehanshu··on This site is now a “shinobi website”
Bad idea, I will like to be able to click on links, and see pictures. ASCII art is fun, but cannot be a staple.
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Why is the PDF format so inaccessible?
I am amazed how most of the answers suggest reading the specs. Why overcomplicate things when you just need to generate pdf? They simplest way is to generate HTML files, then use a headless browser to conver them to PDF. Simple!
psnehanshu··on Keycloak: Open-Source Identity and Access Management
Sorry, my misunderstanding.
psnehanshu··on Keycloak: Open-Source Identity and Access Management
Why customize the FE when you can use the keycloak-js[1] NPM library to integrate with any JS framework?

psnehanshu··on The strange business of hole-in-one insurance
Is this only me or someone else also experiencing? The page keeps reloading and never stops.
psnehanshu··on I accidentally loaned all my money to the US government
The email clearly states that only the excess amount will be refunded. Yes the author decided to invest another $9,975. It is clearly his mistake.
psnehanshu··on Warren Buffett gives his most expansive explanation for not believing in Bitcoin
The value of Bitcoin is in the fact that it is limited, verifiable, anonymous, and unblockable.

It is limited because there can be maximum of 21 million of Bitcoins, and no more. This produces scarcity.

It is verifiable because it's based on the blockchain technology. Anyone can verify that you actually own the money you claim to own. In the fiat system, you have to rely on the banks for that, and banks can be painful at times.

It's anonymous because you don't have to attach your personal information with the wallets. Creating a wallet is as simple as generating a random number. You need no permission from any higher authority (banks).

Because of the above reasons, Bitcoin is unblockable. No government can block it, directly. They have to adopt indirect methods like heavy penalty on being caught, blocking internet services, banning exchanges (which aren't fundamental to Bitcoin). And since it is anonymous, no person can be banned from using it.

So yeah, the value of Bitcoin is that, it is a medium of exchange for value, but which awesome features. Saying it is valueless, because it doesn't produce anything tangible is just being naive.

psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Beyond AWS/Azure/GCP, what cloud providers should I know more about?
I am currently playing with Fly.io, and it is very simple to use. If you can dockerize your application, you can run it on Fly. Obviously, it is not comparable to AWS etc., but it is totally fine for single apps. You can run multiple apps too, and they can communicate using Fly'a private network and private DNS, but I haven't tried it yet.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Alternative Google Analytics Dashboard
The software we are building at my current job is totally dependent on Google's APIs. Is this something I should tell my manager?
psnehanshu··on I've used all the notebooks
You are way too disciplined, which I can never be. More power to you.
psnehanshu··on I've used all the notebooks
I rarely take notes, be it on paper or on computer. It's just not my thing.
psnehanshu··on How to Corrupt an SQLite Database File
What do you mean by "nuked", did OneDrive delete it? It shouldn't delete unless it was deleted in the cloud by someone (or you).
psnehanshu··on How to Corrupt an SQLite Database File
Exactly, and you use fopen() to read files.
psnehanshu··on How to Corrupt an SQLite Database File
> SQLite is great, but I would not use it in a multi-machine, multi-processing environment.

Yeah great, you shouldn't. SQLite is meant to be replacement of custom files to store data by apps (mobile apps, desktop apps, server apps). This isn't meant to scale to millions of users, but just store data in a structured manner.

psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Why can't web browsers block pop-ups?
It's hard to always tell when you should or shouldn't block a pop-up. Many browsers tried to solve this by blocking new windows being automatically opened if a click didn't happen just a little before it.

Necessary use cases of pop-up windows, one is oauth login (sign in with Google/Facebook/Twitter)

psnehanshu··on Software development: should we stop? Maybe we should
Nothing is ever enough. The article is bullshit.
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: How do you privately share pictures and video with family and friends?
same here
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: How do you privately share pictures and video with family and friends?
say WhatsApp too
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: How do you privately share pictures and video with family and friends?
that's a lot of redundant unnecessary job you have done, could have sticked to something simpler, no?
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: What is the most Pythonic spoken language?
German grammar has lot of unnecessary things, could have been simpler.
psnehanshu··on Thoughts on Zero Trust
I don't know what zero trust you are talking about, but the way I see it is, that you don't need to trust anyone, other than maths and algorithm to take decisions.

For example, take end-to-end encryption. If some chat app implements this truly, then I don't need to trust the people working on the app to keep my data safe, instead I can rely on the algorithm.

Or a more concrete example would be bitcoin, where everything happens in such a way that no once can cheat you. It's all based on maths and algorithm.

psnehanshu··on Ask HN: What life means to you?
Life is something to be lived.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Rentify – Create an online rental store
didn't know, sorry
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Rentify – Create an online rental store
Your landing page is built with Vue.js as a static SPA without any pre-rendered content in it. This is bad as Google will not index your page. I suggest using Nuxt.js for the landing page.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Meet a co-founder every Saturday
I tried using it from two different mobile browsers, it did pair up, but the video didn't work.
