psnehanshu··on Show HN: Ezno, a type checker for JavaScript and optimiser for React
Wow, I was assuming it to be Enzo until I saw this comment.

psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Why is Microsoft Teams still so bad?
I wonder how there's so much difference. Don't programmers working at VS Code and Teams interact with each other?
psnehanshu··on Figma vs. Adobe XD
In my understanding, businesses, in theory should never use unlicensed proprietary software. If they want to cut costs, they should use free software. There are almost always free alternatives, which may or may not lack features available in their paid alternatives. If they badly want those software, they should try to increase their revenue using free software and then switch to paid.
psnehanshu··on Whalemap – Enhance your trading with blockchain data
This should go to Show HN
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: What games are you having fun with?
I am addicted to Clash Royale for the time being.
psnehanshu··on Worldwide Rail Network Map
Interesting how apart from US, Europe, India, China (east), and Japan, the rest of the world is mostly devoid of railways.
psnehanshu··on The Oldest Restaurant in Kabul (2017)
Wow, this was amazing. I like how the main topic was the restaurant, but yet the article told the story of Afganistan in past few decades.
psnehanshu··on Vendor by Default (2021)
I didn't read through all the article, but I am not convinced. Vendoring isn't scalable for the long term. Everytime you want to use a dependency, you will have the overhead of first understanding the code and then copy-paste. The dividends might be there, but not worth it.
psnehanshu··on MVP.css – Minimalist stylesheet for HTML elements
Looks interesting!
psnehanshu··on .ai
Turns out HN doesn't consider the final dot to be a part of the URL.
psnehanshu··on .ai
A dot is required at the end. http://ai.
psnehanshu··on Most books don't sell only a dozen copies
But the point is that most people will take the literal definition of "book". They wouldn't differentiate between hardcover, paperback, ebooks, audiobooks. If an "expert" said "90% of books sell less than 99 copies", without any context, most people will assume that the book sold less than 99 copies across all its manifestations and in a lifetime. The article puts light on the fact that there's more to that statement than what it means in a first glance.
psnehanshu··on Infinite Scrolling: When to Use It, When to Avoid It
On mobile devices the scroll bar is barely visible. So this is a non-issue for mobile.
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: What all programming languages does your company use?
Typescript, Kotlin, C# etc.
psnehanshu··on My take on how DuckDuckGo can outperform Google
I don't know about others, but Google provides me relevant and useful results each and every time. I have no plans to switch to DDG or Bing or anything else anytime soon.
psnehanshu··on Hacker News “Who is Hiring?” top-level comments over time
Google is infamous for breaking backward compatibility, and sunsetting things, so I will not advice anyone to use this to build any products. However it is fine for one-off tasks, like fetching data for this blog post.
psnehanshu··on Neon – Serverless Postgres

Pardon my tiny brain, your joke is one league above mine.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: I made a personal Movies page, tracking everything I've watched
Yes, but again, for most people, movie data is far less valuable than say contacts.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: I made a personal Movies page, tracking everything I've watched
Movie data isn't that valuable information to protect for an individual. Instead you can try making a contacts syncing software, or email storage, or even WhatsApp media backup system.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Tree-view visualization of threaded Twitter conversations
Instead of someone mentioning the bot in a thread, why not allow people to paste the tweet url, and view it in threaded format? This can be a alternative Twitter reader.
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Why are all the big tech companies reaching out all at once?
Wow, lucky you!

> link to it

Not possible in text-only Shinobi websites.

> Maybe you'd want it inline though

Yes absolutely.

> so I guess we could wrap it in some text that tells the browser to show it.

You must use HTML to "tell the browser to show it". Shinobis are text-only. So you're out of luck.

psnehanshu··on Gov.uk drops jQuery from their front end
Whilst *.GOV.IN (India) is the worst.
psnehanshu··on Gov.uk drops jQuery from their front end
jQuery is still around because it's hard to get rid of. Think of all those WordPress websites that use themes, which have jQuery in it. Who is brave enough to remove jQuery?
psnehanshu··on Gov.uk drops jQuery from their front end
Fetch API is fine, but Axios[0] gives you a lot more flexibility. The best thing I like is the request/response interceptor. You can do cool stuff like injecting tokens into outgoing requests, retry failed requests, centralized error handling. Because of adapters, it works both in browser environment as well as Node.js environment. Heck, you can even mock requests in your unit tests using a mock adapter[1] to avoid making actual HTTP requests. Sure there is a cost for adding dependency when you can just use native APIs, but in this case, I think it's worth it.

There are tools like babel (even typescript) which can help you support older browsers.
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: Why is Google Premium not a thing?
It it works for YouTube, why wouldn't it work for Google? Both use the same ad network anyway, so their advertisers are the same people.

Yeah, and there's no way to insert a picture except for ASCII art. Sounds like a really bad idea.
