psnehanshu··on What If OpenDocument Used SQLite?
It should be Postgres not PostGres. The latter looks weird.
psnehanshu··on What Are Traces and Spans in OpenTelemetry?
The amount of additional code that it needs is horrible. We will now have to spend more brain juice on telemetry when working on a feature.
psnehanshu··on Sci-Hub has been blocked in India
If you have DNS-over-HTTPS enabled, then ISP won't be able to interfere with DNS. Right?
psnehanshu··on A technical look at Iran's internet shutdowns
There is, so that's why you need to use Starlink as the exit. A Starlink terminal connects directly to a stattelite bypassing all local infrastructure. Unless Iran confiscates those terminals or shoots down those satellites, they can't block it.
psnehanshu··on JavaScript Trademark Update
It's a great move for the brand Deno. They will be seen as the saviour of javascript.
psnehanshu··on How Compiler Explorer Works in 2025
what kind of shortcut is this? a file path in your code bases?
psnehanshu··on Xeneva Operating System
Hey brother, I found your project on Reddit, and thought it was cool, hence posted on HN. I am also from Assam btw.
psnehanshu··on How Compiler Explorer Works in 2025
The tool is called Compiler Explorer, but is hosted at godbolt.org. There's also compliler-explorer.com, which is the same thing. Why not retire the first domain? Just redirect to the namesake domain to prevent link rot.
psnehanshu··on How a 20 year old bug in GTA San Andreas surfaced in Windows 11 24H2
Why is that? Is that just bad coding habits?
psnehanshu··on Gumroad’s source is available
It's Rails!
psnehanshu··on Build a Container Image from Scratch
That, and they also added the "time" command in the config with the scratch base image.
psnehanshu··on Apple will soon support encrypted RCS messaging with Android users
Not on the Google Messages app itself, but inside the messages. Just like spam promotional emails.
psnehanshu··on Apple will soon support encrypted RCS messaging with Android users
When I enabled RCS on my Android, I started getting ads with rich media. So I disabled it. And moreover WhatsApp is the dominant messaging app in my country. So this doesn't matter.
psnehanshu··on Why Ruby on Rails still matters
I see you're serving a GTS certificate. Does GCP allow you to download TLS certificates? I honestly didn't know. I thought just like AWS, you get them only when using their services like load balancers, app runners etc.
psnehanshu··on Send: Open-source fork of Firefox Send
I use ToffeeShare. It also uses WebRTC for p2p transfer. But it fallbacks to a central server if p2p can't be established (just like a TURN server)
psnehanshu··on Show HN: HTML for People
I take photos on my phone, and they are automatically backed up. I can access them on all my devices, and I have them even when I change my primary phone, so I am happy. I only backup my camera photos, so I guess my needs are simple. So it suits my needs. I can disable it from backing up any other folders, so random photos don't end up in my library. I never needed to find out where a photo was backed up from, because I only care about my camera photos.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: Dead man's switch without reliance on your infra
If the infra goes down, you fix it while alive, otherwise the snooze timeout on the PagerDuty incident will expire and that will trigger the configured tasks. If PagerDuty goes out of business before that, then that's a different discussion.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: HTML for People
Come on! Google Photos is not confusing at all. It is very clear on what it does, but I may be biased.
psnehanshu··on Show HN: SQL Explorer – Open-source reporting tool that Just Works
Awesome project. But a somewhat irrelevant suggestion. OP could have shared the video via YouTube for better user experience (adaptive bitrate streaming) and also not had to worry about paying for S3.
psnehanshu··on What UI density means and how to design for it
> I wouldn't do it permanently, but I use the feature sometimes myself.

Exactly my thought. I too use it sometimes, but "always" is a bit too much.

psnehanshu··on What UI density means and how to design for it
Why on Earth?
psnehanshu··on GPT-4o
You have got a chatgpt wrapper start up right there.
psnehanshu··on Deletion of user account
Am I getting it correct? They are selling you the right to delete your account with them.
psnehanshu··on How to Use JSON Path
How's that related?
psnehanshu··on Start Your Own ISP
From India, and right now I have unlimited 5G data plan on my cellular that works pretty well. In someplaces it get's 4G also.
psnehanshu··on We are moving to General Availability
When did the positioning of Supabase changed from a "Firebase alternative" to a "Postgres hosting"?
psnehanshu··on There’s a 30-year old dead Rabbit in Seven Sisters tube station
It thought this was about a literal "dead rabbit".
psnehanshu··on Ask HN: What is the most useless project you have worked on?
Worked for a client via freelancing. Built 3 projects, all failed. He likes to follow the trends, first SaaS, then crypto/blockchain, and now AI. He apparently raises money, pays himself and builds bullshit projects. That's it. But while doing so, he does everything to look like a legit startup.

Ngl, he was my first major client with whom I gained a lot of experience, but it doesn't change the fact that he is a hype chaser.

psnehanshu··on The case of a leaky goroutine
Just wondering if threads in Rust can suffer such problems?

Background: I am coming from the JS/TS/Node world, and have decided to jump onto a compiled language. I narrowed down my choices to Go and Rust and eventually decided to go with Rust, because it didn't use GC for memory management.
