proyb2··on Apps made for one OS shouldn't insist on aping the design elements of another
That's why we all have different furniture.
proyb2··on Japan adding mandatory programming education to all elementary schools
It would be idea to start in secondary/high school as in educations in Singapore does.
proyb2··on My time with Rails is up
I'm aware of that using Rails.
proyb2··on My time with Rails is up
Magento and Shopify backend are awfully slow, it's the language, not the programmers.
proyb2··on Ask HN: Has Meteor grown up?
Have you asked at Meteor discussion forum as there are active community?

Are you comfortable using either React or Angular?

You will probably more concern on running Meteor on mobile devices if you're talking about scaling, you might consider Swift and Android Studio, I didn't go further with Meteor due to mobile experience that Swift can provide native experience and running as a web framework like what Meteor does.

Other concern is the architecture, I couldn't explore the internal working in Meteor.js due to some difficulty in understanding the concept. That was a factor I moving to Swift as well.

10^3 req/s is 1000 req/s on 192 cores? What does it mean?

proyb2··on Play Store and Android Apps Coming to Chromebooks
If it's get too affordable with a low-end hardware, most users will still opt for LAN cafe which is popular in China and some countries and is cheapest option for gaming and surfing Internet.

The cheapest notebook is about US$200.

proyb2··on Swift: Things I really wanted that won’t make it
We will also need a dashboard like Akka for profiling concurrency will be a bonus.
proyb2··on Arrested by Undercover Officers After Trying to Sell His Laptop Online
OSSIC X headphone started one and some Kickstarter campaigns I have no backing on their products, a few amazing technology they can do. Rarely seen startup tech in Singapore.
proyb2··on Arrested by Undercover Officers After Trying to Sell His Laptop Online
Seriously, either Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore are safest countries than in USA. Need more startup in Singapore.
proyb2··on Am I really a developer or just a good Googler?
Possible for Encyclopedia, impossible for technology related to stay relevant in the next few years.
proyb2··on Electron 1.0 is here
I would use Electron which I have developed for music using WebMIDI for Windows, Linux and Mac. It's fast as a native app, low latency.
proyb2··on Electron 1.0 is here
Have you try Android Studio?
proyb2··on Electron 1.0 is here
Microsoft have too many mistep in technology over the years due to my perception that each products is a utilizes/tools rather than a products. Apple got the products right
proyb2··on Electron 1.0 is here
In a way, Electron is web enabled as a web browser and very stable across platform. Native application might not be 100% reliable.
proyb2··on Swift Programming Language Evolution
Too easy to get errors for array or objects loop outside the boundary that can be confusing for any teams dealing with large scale and when the requirements change frequently.
proyb2··on Swift Programming Language Evolution
Not so, every years students and millennials are graduated and users are relied heavily on mobile on the move and oversea. Get ready to watch WWDC 2016, the demand is still very much active.

Actionscript did open source, it create lot of unhappiness in the community and poor IDE performance but Swift is a different story, I'm looking forward to have Swift for server as long as the vendors contribution are growing, MS could be keen.

proyb2··on Swift Programming Language Evolution
Perhaps Swift likes Actionscript? That's where a lot of professional left Actionscript for Scala and some invested and adopted Swift. Who cares about sales drop when it's not your job, when the main goals to get Swift on cross-platforms and IoT. Contents drive sales, you seen Windows and BB, Jolla phones have failed.

It's safe to predict Swift will supported in Android and I still prefer iOS for entertainment whereas I have a bad experience on many Android phones for years including it took years for Samsung and LG to release new ROM.

proyb2··on Swift Programming Language Evolution
Yes, if Swift team could continue from Zewo and Venice, it will save lot of resources to build from ground up.
proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
I was hoping all Swift professional are motivated to contribute patches, features and tuning performance to Swift 3.0 in a swift pace instead of until 2017. Release Process is such a lengthy discussion that could have been shorten and spending more time on improving code.

Why not using JIRA?

proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
and Vapor web framework include Venice.
proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
Swift is more like Java ecosystem than Rust is ideal as the next gen C++. Otherwise, Obj-C would have been popular when it tried to compete with C/C++. There was an article mentioning.
proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
Haven't had experience in GCD, looks interesting, are there any tutorials I can read up other than Apple resources?
proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
That will rely on LLVM?
proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
Microsoft staff have recently did a preview ported at Codeplex https://swiftforwindows.codeplex.com

Disappointed, only for Windows 10.

proyb2··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
Today I have submitted a proposal for "memorization", "memo", "memorize" keyword for a function that allows to run only once through out the lifecycle in Swift 3. Repeatedly execute the function will only return the same result without having to rerun the function everytime. As far as, I don't see my submission is being visible for discussion.

  memo func hello(fname: String, lname: String) {
    return fname.lname
  }
proyb2··on Ask HN: Server-side web framework in Swift/ObjectiveC?
Zewo for Swift, as far as no other micro-frameworks seem to popular yet especially Nodejs with Expressjs has come a long way and Laravel an instant success due to PHP fatigue with many web frameworks.
proyb2··on Ask HN: Best home office chair?
I used to have a normal computer chair for 10 years and have torn beyond your imagination, I decide to switch to racing chair for comfortable feel like sofa and for programmers who sitting long hours and perfectly support my back unlike every office chairs I tried in Singapore I found the back support are either hard curve or unbalance. Get it from a local store is safer and cheaper than getting from Amazon.
